I would like to have a public discussion with the mods after this post. I will not attack, nor defend anyone in this discussion. I just want a clean, civilized discussion with the whole community and the mods.
I would like to first set some rules
- This discussion should be upvote/downvote free, we have no need for them. (Mods could you please change this to contest mode?)
- Please back up any claims.
- Keep it clean please.
- Respect any opinions.
Now then, there has been some questioning about the four mods of this fantastic sub, /r/Aquariums: /u/Plattinum, /u/Fishtails, /u/likemaugal, and /u/Krishnath_Dragon. They all have contributed to this sub, keeping spam out, and keeping the sub clean. But as I stated there are some questions aboutthe mods. These are mostly about how active some mods are, the miscommunication to mod mail, and attitude of mods.
I have a few questions myself but would encourage the community, especially /u/JosVermeulen to ask the mods as well.
- Mods inactive for more than 2 months should be relieved of their position, Source while yes this is more of an interpretation of the rules, I feel it is a good guide line to keep mods that are active.
- There have been accusations of the mods not responding to mod mail. While this cannot be proven by me, this is something that would be important to address as this is our only means of communication to the mods.
- Some mods may be negatively responding to critique about them. Once again not something I can prove, but this is a rather bad attitude for a mod, who should be able to stay calm in heated arguments or discussions.
Thank you for reading and discussing, I just want to end the small mod drama going on, and also would like some more transparency from the mods. This would be key to a great subreddit.
