This is hilarious.. The guy from the SUV is wearing a The Punisher T-shirt.

a The Punisher

I don't know why that made me laugh so much.

I mean, grammatically speaking, he's not wrong. It is trademarked as "The Punisher". We don't want to sell any brands short.

That's probably part of the reason I laughed, because technically he's not wrong but if you say it out loud it just sounds wrong.

I didn't even notice the a until I saw the quotes...

There is a band called The Chariot, and they have stickers that read "my other car is a The Chariot." It's pretty good.

Expected a gun.

Me too. The motorcycle rider looked like he was hiding something behind his back when he approached the car.

If you read the description of the video it looks like he was trying to be intimidating by pretending he had a weapon, and that the driver actually did have a weapon. I expected the driver's weapon to be a gun.

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_NOSE_HAIR 69ポイント70ポイント  (29子コメント)

Not that I would stop and wait for a road rager to come up and have a chat, but if he came walking up with one hand hidden like that he'd be at gunpoint before he reached the car. I know, I know, "internet toughguy" but as you said - bluffing like that isn't a smart idea like this guy found out. In this case he got lucky and it was a baseball bat and not a gun.

[–]too_lazy_2_punctuate 45ポイント46ポイント  (7子コメント)

He was definately trying to front. When dude saw he didn't have a gun he reacted pretty appropriately.

I'm actually quite happy it wasn't a gun.

Getting shot for being a douche is IMO too harsh so I wouldn't get a justice boner.

Getting hit with a bat a few times without any life threatening injuries? Yeah, that'll do pig. That'll do.

I didn't say I wanted it to be a gun. I said I expected it to be a gun.

I think you're misinterpreting my reply. Let me try again.

"I agree, I also expected it to be a gun, but I was quite happy it wasn't.

Getting shot for being a douche is IMO too harsh so I wouldn't get a justice boner.

Getting hit with a bat a few times without any life threatening injuries? Yeah, that'll do pig. That'll do."

I didn't mean to make you think I'm saying contradictory to you when in fact I also did expect it to be a gun and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a baseball bat. :)

For those not familiar, this is Fitchburg, MA. It's a fairly shitty town in the middle of nowhere. I say fairly because cities like Lawrence, Brockton, and Springfield exist.

Wooooo my college is in Springfield! ...I'm from out of state, I had no idea until arriving what the area around campus was like

Fitchburg's like an hour away from Springfield, although they do share a lot of similarities.

So Fitchburg is kinda like Shelbyville maybe?

To me, yeah, because i live in Leominster right next to Fitchburg. So it's like my Shelbyville. Idk what Springfield MA's would be.

Isn't Springfield known for having a really high ratio of opiaye addicts?

You enrolled in a college without visiting it first?

[–]immaculate_deception 4ポイント5ポイント  (1子コメント)

You really think that's uncommon? Some people apply all over the country and obviously can't afford the time and money to visit each place or even one before making a decision.

Visiting can be expensive or the college easily offered the best aid package

Wow, I thought to myself that this looks very much like Massachusetts.

The inspection sticker in the window gave it away

(NH Native) I was thinking the same thing: "That kinda looks like new england...nah couldn't be. Everywhere looks like NE right?" My brother went to St Bernards though lol

SUV Guy has NH tags.

Lowell checking in, never seen so many pissed off Cambodians in my life.

Where are, in your opinion, the sluttiest girls of the places you mentioned?

Hey, Brockton isn't...that...

Fuck it, yes it is that bad. Treat Warren Ave, East Ashland St, most of Belmont St, and Main St like downtown Baghdad if you ever go there.

The town flag of Fitchburg should be a picture of a teenage girl wearing a winter coat and sweatpants, while smoking a cigarette and pushing a baby stroller.

Oh come on dude, Springfield's not that bad....within the context of Chicopee and Holyoke.

I drove on this road today, and boy I never mess around while driving in Fitchburg let alone riding!

I'm from Brockton! City gets a worse rap than it deserves in my opinion. It's surrounded by too many nice towns, which amplify its shittyness.

I can confirm both the shittiness of Fitchburg and the location this happened. I live in the burg and often travel through the area this happened.

That area's really not that shitty compared to a lot of places in Fitchburg.

Yeah I agree, I was just confirming the general shittiness of Fitchburg, haha.

Don't forget about Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury ......

Those are just neighborhoods in Boston. Shitty for the most part, but different than Fitchburg, Lowell, or Brockton.

Oh god Brockton is a shit hole. I stayed there for the men's lax Final Four at Gillette and heard gun shots when we were checking in to our hotel. 2 years later in my business law book there's a photo of a dead body at a crime scene in Brockton.

Good job raising that girl.

i'm stealing the top comment from liveleak for this but its just too good not to post here:

never bring a waistband to a bat fight.

I think we should give a little praise to the guy on the bike too. He took his beating- albeit reluctantly, and upon completion, went back to his business without any follow up drama.

Only because he had a helmet and his injuries were not on his brain/skull.

Helmets are great. I'm sure everyone saw the video where the driver of the white truck tests a helmet's strength against his head.

He throws that truck into reverse like the intro of super troopers.

So classic. I love that.

Justice boner every time. Where does he even come from? It's perfect.

The guys on the bikes were ripping it up and down the redneck truck guy's street and he has tried to get them to slow down/avoid the neighborhood where his children play.

Redneck truck guy fucking ran them off the road by crossing into their lane when he noticed them ripping along his street again. (Idiotic and Dangerous)

Thug bikers circle back. Recording rider has a discussion with the guy. Recording biker's buddy comes from behind and cheap-shots the Redneck Truck driver with a helmeted headbutt like the piece of shit he truly is.

Idiots all around. Hardly justice porn but the circlejerk was strong.

LOL I even got some hate mail from some fruit scooter trying to defend their position.

Not trying to defend the bikers but a street is a street. I can only imagine how fast they were ripping up and down the street but that's for the traffic law enforcement to come in.

The driver of the truck is, in my opinion, the worst offender. Doing that could've killed not only the bikers but himself or possibly his passenger(s). It was intentional he was breaking the law with the motive to harm. The bikers are breaking the law but their intentions aren't to hurt anyone. One was using his vehicle as a weapon, the others were using their vehicles as toys. Idiots all around is right but that truck driver got what he deserved in my opinion.

EDIT: to everyone replying and saying that I'm wrong with my opinion, I definitely see your side and absolutely agree. I have no arguments. What was once a short random video of what seems like some good justice porn has now been turned into a documentation of a bunch of shitbags thanks to the context provided. I no longer feel any satisfaction watching this video, so thank you.

The bikers actually had videos of them speeding up and down the road on their channel before they started getting attention. They were cruising up and down the road at triple digit speeds. The videos providing context were removed when they started getting called out as douchebags.

All around a bunch of douchebags, riders and driver.

Huh? Driving up and down a road going triple digits could possible kill someone. No matter what their intentions are.

The bikers are breaking the law but their intentions aren't to hurt anyone.

It doesn't matter what there intentions were. They were going triple digit speeds in a residential neighborhood. Where children play in streets and people walk freely with little concern or awareness about getting hit by vehicles. The motorcyclists could have hit and killed a pedestrian, too. Both parties are equally guilty in potentially seriously hurting someone. At least the redneck only did it with the hope that it would stop the motorcyclists from endangering everyone in the neighborhood. Not that I'm defending what the redneck did. I'm just saying...he had a reason. A misguided attempt to protect people. And he got beat up because of it...

[–]Noble_Flatulence 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

The bikers are breaking the law but their intentions aren't to hurt anyone.

Clear intention to hurt someone when you headbutt him while wearing a protective helmet so you can headbutt him as hard as you can while not feeling anything.
And no, the truck driver did not get what he deserved. Even though he was in the wrong for trying to police the roads his own self instead of calling the proper authorities, that doesn't give people the right to commit criminal violence. The headbutter wasn't protecting or defending, he was retaliating. That's not justice. You're in the wrong, accept it.

Guy tries to kill them with a truck. Yeah, obviously he deserves a stern talking to and maybe a sincere apology instead of a knock to the head. That'll do him a lot of good in the future. Maybe he'll only try to kill people who really piss him off in the future.

i love how they both turned around so they could say something to each other

Probably a good idea to buy a new helmet now. A blow from a bat is probably not good for the crash integrity.

You were thinking the same thing I was. Then again I am a biker but I don't drive like a douche and pass randomly on both sides of the road. I the guy you see on a big cruiser rolling down the highway in the right lane enjoying my day.

He really was satisfactorily chastened. I also appreciated that the batter realized he'd done his job and went back to his vehicle, rather than say, trying to crack that helmet a few more times.

I thought he was going for the bike.

I wonder what biker guy had to say that diffused the situation? Probably involved a lot of "dude. Dude! Ok!"

A lot of these road rage videos are like that though. The realization that one might die over some stupid shit where there wasn't even a collision in the first place seems to calm people down.

"Alright, so I was the asshole there. Moving on."

Can we take a moment to really appreciate this girl (most likely teenager) videography, horizontal camera, zoomed in, pretty damn steady, no screaming. 8/10.

I was more impressed with the quality. No adrenaline shakes, stupid audio and how clear it was. Too bad it wasn't a ufo, but a fat guy on a bike.

Lawyer folk: Can the guy in the SUV get arrested for this, or can he step out of his vehicle and use a weapon if it means preventing further intrusion?

Non Massachutes lawyer here.

After a quick search, it appears that Ma. is a "duty to retreat" state in instances not occurring where a person is defending himself in his own home.

So even if Babe Ruth reasonably believed he or his property was in danger he would still be obligated to attempt to retreat from the danger. Clearly, he made no attempt here. Battery.

This is in stark contrast to Florida's infamous "stand your ground" defense laws.

"Duty to retreat" is the biggest crock of shit known to mankind. Yes, by all means, let's place the burden on the victim of these incidents.

I much prefer the stand your ground approach.

Yeah, at what point does it stop becoming self-defense?

The point where the motorcyclist is walking back to his bike and the driver has a perfectly good opportunity to just drive away. That is, the start.

< Not a lawyer, but knowing a little about the law, the motorcycle driver was walking away when the driver of the car came after him and that puts them both in hot water.

If it was left to where the driver of the car had called Police, the biker would have 100% been the only person going to jail. Since the SUV driver essentially came after the biker while said biker was walking away from the altercation, I would think he (SUV) would also be charged with some form of assault. It would more become retaliation than self defense.

Depends on the lawyer. If he could convince the jury that the driver thought the biker was returning to the bike to get a gun, or was simply backing away to get a clear shot, he would be cleared.

It's still iffy, it looks like the motorcyclist had turned away briefly to take off his helmet.

It's no longer cut and dry, but I think the SUV driver would still escape all charges.

If you're wearing a helmet, you're not going to take it off to get back on your bike. There's no way that guy was getting back on his bike and going to carry his helmet.

The only other argument that could be made was he was going to take it off and use it like a club if the SUV driver had gotten out. Of course he wasn't fast enough to get the helmet off. I ride regularly with my b/f, helmets are very sturdy and can easily be used to beat the piss out of someone.

It's worth noting that the biker started the fight by punching the guy through his open window. The driver could have claimed he thought the biker was going to get a weapon or something.

Any jury who saw this video wouldn't convict the guy.

He would totally get convicted. He's in a car. He thinks the guy is going for a weapon? Drive away.

I know a little about bird law

In California (which this is not), use of the bat as a weapon makes it a "billy club", putting it in the same category as if he had used a gun. Meaning unless he had a concealed carry permit, he was illegally "concealing" a deadly weapon within reach while driving a car, and then assaulted someone who no longer posed a threat with a deadly weapon.

This is retaliation, not self defense.

IANAL, however I believe that because the motorcycle rider was going back to his bike there was no longer an present danger so the argument for self defense is negated. But wtf do I know

The Fitchburg police announced that they would not be pursuing either person in the video because neither on reported it, therefore there was no crime. There was a public outcry about the police not doing anything about two road ragers, now the police have announced that they will be pursuing the two drivers.

I wish that's how it was more often. If only two parties are affected and they both mutually agree not to take criminal action, then none should be taken. Now if a third by is involved, say a bystanders car was hit, then yes that person should have to option to report them.

I was in a fight in high school. Teenage bullshit drama. We shook hands afterwards and that was that. Two days later I find out I'm getting suspended because this chick thought it was her civil duty to report the incident to the principal.

You should both just insist that the fight never took place. If you don't confess, most principals would just let it drop.

I should carry a bat ...

Be careful with that. Or at least bring a glove and a ball so if the cops catch you with it you can argue it's for sport. My buddy got on trouble with a bat in his car.

  • mobile spelling error - 'bat', not 'bar'

When the man started chasing him with the bat I can imagine the Benny Hill theme song being played in the background.

From an updated article:

"I want to apologize to the little girl that saw what happened. That was very rude of me and stupid behavior and overreacting the way I did," he said.

Ramos explained his "overreaction" resulted from being shot five times several years ago.

"If you've been shot before and somebody tells you they're going to hurt you, you're going to try to take care of yourself," he said.

At least in my state, the guy on the bike was the aggressor.

How ever, the guy with the bat was also in the wrong as he assaulted a person walking away.

The Punisher has really relaxed his killing policies these days!

This has very little context as to why this situation even happened

The description says the bike was weaving through traffic, obviously illegal here because double yellow. But it looks much more like he was trying to chase down that driver. Something happened before the video. You don't end up behind cars from passing them.

That was great. He should have taken a few swings at that bike.

Nah, what he did was in my opinion the proper amount of justice. He ended the confrontation on the moral highground (mostly) and got some good hits in. Ultimately he showed restraint, and I think that's what I would want to strive for, were I in a similar situation.

You know I was thinking like the first guy but I think you're spot on. Also, I feel like I just read a summary of a play from a sports announcer.

I was hoping he'd "accidentally" back into the bike and knock it over.

[–]Lets_Punch_Babies 6ポイント7ポイント  (12子コメント)

Dude that's what I was expecting. Punch me thru my window?! Well let me just back this motherfucker up real quick

But then you're liable for damages. I'm not sure about you, but I don't want to have to pay to fix an asshole's bike. Fuck that noise.

Nope. You were afraid for your safety so you disabled his bike and left in order to end the confrontation.

Attacking a guy with a bat carries a harsher penalty than hitting his bike

Damages when you're in flight mode because a guy just assaulted you? Nah, it was totally just an accident because of all the adrenaline.

Or maybe it wasn't, maybe you wanted to make sure this crazy guy couldn't chase you.

As good as it would've felt, he's just opening himself up to a damages claim.

Why do people get so upset when motorcycles pass them? such a huge difference when I came to Germany and its the norm for motorcycles to lane split and go to the front of the line at lights, if you try that in the states the cars get so pissed and try to block you whenever possible.

I don't think that's what happened in this case. I think the motorcyclist was swerving in and around both sides of traffic on a one-lane road.

Yeah, but the motorcycle is the one who pulled up to the SUV. The description says the bike was weaving through traffic, obviously illegal here because double yellow. But it looks much more like he was trying to chase down that driver. Something happened before the video. You don't end up behind cars from passing them.

Because it is super dangerous. You are basically driving where no vehicle is expected to be and you are in everyone's blind spot. It is annoying behavior.

You are both right. Studies recently conducted in Sydney Australia show motorcycle filtering to be a low risk activity, not super dangerous http://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/motorcyclists/lanefiltering/faqs.html#faq5

But lane splitting has a higher risk due to the higher speeds involved.

Lane filtering is fine. Lane splitting is what I am taking about. People always want to talk about looking out for motorcycle riders, but it is counter intuitive when motorcycle riders lane split in moving traffic. Driving in a moving vehicles blind spot is not smart.

You're not technically in the blind spot when lane splitting. You're more likely to be in the blind spot when sitting in the other lane.

Also, when splitting, you don't sit next to cars. You pass them at a brisk but reasonable pace, ideally when they are zippering outwards instead of inwards.

Americans aren't used to it and have personal bubbles that extend 2-3 meters in every direction around their car.

Thank you. My first thought was "What's the argument about in the first place?" I forgot that America doesn't like filtering.

So my second question is "How did this happen?" If I filter in front of someone, they're very unlikely to find themselves in front of me again in normal traffic. So they can get pissed off as much as they like, but they can't do anything about it. That's kinda the point of filtering.

Southern Californian here. It's legal in our state and I've never seen it as an issue. Most riders, like 98%, know when and how to safely lane split. Just like other drivers, there are those that fuck it up for everyone else.

hand behind his back? dangerous mistake...pulling over to confront someone (both of them) also a mistake

Exactly why I keep a bat in my truck!

[–]Tirkaz 1

Thank god for baseball bats.

When you get back in your truck, you back the fuck up into the bike to wreck it properly, then you leave gloriously.

I so would've turned back and faked like I was about to swing at him again. Just to see him stumble back like a buffoon.

I imagined the motorcycle guys face afterwards looked like the "Okay :(" meme when he walks back lol

Shit looks so staged.

Damn, I was hoping he would just casually kick the bike over on the way out.

Or even better, reverse over it then just roll on forward

That was a pretty satisfying video!

How could someone be so pissed off they'll follow you to fight you. That's a good way to get shot.

should of tipped his bike over.

I wouldn't call this justiceporn. Its just a road rage incident escalating into assault.
