I'm just a regular old white guy from Canada, but even I know that Sikhs are not the same as Muslims.

But they frequently get misidentified as such, which is the joke basically.

"Spread your cheeks and lift your sack"

When ever I am telling a joke, I take my pants off and lift my balls. I thought they were the same thing.

Wooohooo! Go Minnesota!

Minnesotans are the most welcoming, tolerant, loving people....unless you're not from Minnesota

Nah, only Wisconsin.

Or Iowa.

I'm really not sure why, but its 100% mutual hatred between Minnesota and Iowa.

I'm Iowan, and I love Minnesota. In fact, I can't think of anyone I know that hates Minnesota.

nah, we hate Wisconsonites more.

Weirdly enough go Kansas!

At first I thought he must not of traveled there, but then... he's been to Montana. Unless he is a dental floss tycoon there is no reason to go to Montana.

I have a small, self-sustaining dental floss farm. You don't have to be a tycoon to get into the floss game.

I've been thinking about moving out of the big city and starting a small dental floss farm myself. Would you recommend it?

Much like Anthony Kiedis, he never made it up there.

I was surprised because the Minneapolis airport is, from what I understand, one of the nicer ones in the country.

I've only experienced a handful of airports in my life--MSP, Pheonix, LAX, Miami Intl, and Newark (shudder)--MSP is by far the nicest. Easiest to navigate, cleanest, least crowded, and easy to access bars of course

The fact that "Following airports" comes after the map really bothers me.

It should be "preceding airports"

"airports which are marked on the picture which is enframed with this inscription"

The airports are listed on the back.

The location of some of these airports bothers me more. Middle nowhere in South Dakota? Nothing there but missile silos. Maybe this guy does need searching...

The map is a graphic representation of the list. The list is following the statement, but is not actually included. Now all is well with the world again. Sorry it took me an hour to get here, buddy.

My little sister is a short, blond, stereotypical ditsy looking white girl. She gets randomly selected at every airport as well. Last time she brought it up I told her that she is just so white she has to be picked to justify all the other "random" searches they pull.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that your sister probably has a cup size larger than an A.

Yea I was gonna say if she's attractive they might " randomly choose" her for that.

Well the person the pats you down has to be of the same gender IIRC, or at least that's what they told us at the airport in Europe when we were patted down. But who can understand those crazy euro-commies. The TSA knows whats best for us! (/s)

Kinda hilarious that the tsa hasn't addressed the fact that there's plenty of gay tsa employees who can still sexually harass all they want.

[–]Ask_Me_If_Im_A_Horse 3ポイント4ポイント  (5子コメント)

If I'm not mistaken, it has to be a person of the same sex doing the strip search, correct? I thought I read somewhere that LEOs (TSA agents are not LEOs, I know that) have to have an officer of the same sex perform a strip search, so would it not apply here?

Edit: According to this pdf of the rights we have against the TSA, we can request an officer of the same sex and they have to be provided.

Kind of like how my mom always got "randomly" stopped after the self checkout at the grocery store for looking the exact opposite of the type of person who would steal shit from the Stop and Shop in her own town.

I am a classic white girl and I get "randomly" searched every damn time. Finally, after being searched for the second time that day, I asked why I keep getting 'randomly' chosen, the guy joked, "We always search the pretty girls".

This was a couple years ago now but in hindsight, I'm right pissed.

Does she use a driver's license for ID, or a passport?

I used to get screened 100% as well, until a TSA agent told me it was because I used my (US) passport when flying (domestic).

Pink turban and doctor sleeves, this sikh has got the swaaaaag

Dude. Even I can tell when I'm looking at a Sikh and I'm not even an anthropologist or whatever.

The least TSA could do is learn what category to place different looking faces into... Jesus.

If you skin is remotely brown, then the TSA will placing fingers into your "brown".

If it's brown, drink it down...

Wait...

"If they're brown, pat them down".

If they're black send them back?

Edit: Typo

If they're black, plant some crack.

If they're white, they're all riiiight....

I believe that's the motto of the American Border Patrol.

"Filthy foreigner" will do. I haven't been to the US for a while, but I was "randomly" searched on five out of six flights on my last trip and I'm about as boringly WASP as they come.

Maybe you look like a communist? Did you wear a shirt that said healthcare should be free or something?

Jesus

Ironically, he would probably be searched, too.

Remember that the TSA stopped Medal of Honor recipient, WWII top US Marine fight pilot ace, former US governor and head of the American Football League and the National Rifle Association Joe Foss, while he was enroute to West Point to speak to the cadets there, because his Medal of Honor had pointy edges that he might have used to hijack the plane.

The TSA had never seen a Medal of Honor before. And some of their people about got to experience the awe and mystery of a public lynching.

[–]TheSystem_IsDown 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

This started out like one of those "and then the Navy Seal stood up with a bald eagle on his shoulder and told the stooping Jewish professor that this is America, and we believe in the Bible" jokes.

lol you assume TSA agents are able to remove their own heads from their asses long enough to learn something. If they were capable of learning anything they'd have a better job

TSA agents, like detentional/correctional/security officers, are bitter because they're too stupid to become actual cops. Bunch of idiotic losers on a power trip, all of them.

I've never run into ONE pleasant TSA agent, they're all complete dicks for absolutely no reason other than they can be. They can all go fuck themselves.

edit: I realize there are some nice TSA agents out there, but they're not the ones I've ever had to deal with. Quick story: on the last flight I took there was a sign that said something like "All electronics in the bucket" so I put my phone and tablet in the fucking bucket because they're electronics, then this dickhead TSA agent comes up to me and starts talking very loudly/slowly and yelling to the entire line of people behind me in a very negative tone like we're all 3-year-olds "ONLY LARGE ELECTRONICS IN THE BUCKETS, PEOPLE. LAPTOPS ONLY! IT'S BEEN OVER TENNNNNN YEEEEAARRRRRS AND I HAVE TO SAY THIS TO YOU EVVVVVERRRYYYY DAYYYYYYY, YOU SHOULD KNOW BY NOW, IT'S BEEN OVER TENNNNNN YEAARRRRSS"

Some asshole moron yelling at me like that makes me want to rip his goddamn head off and stick the sign that says "All electronics in the bucket" that is 3 feet away down his throat.

It's very dehumanizing to take a flight, the TSA makes people feel like they're retarded cattle. I don't want to be treated like a 3-year-old just because I need to take a fucking flight. I'd be so happy if the TSA was abolished and I could just go board a plane without being hassled.

the one that patted me down cuz i was wearing sweats was very nice. I've met quite a few of them that are just trying to do their job, not go on a power trip.

Lumping people together like that is dangerous and never accurate.

Had a few climbing lessons with a TSA agent (also a redditor). He was a cool guy, had a degree in microbiology, things were just hard so he took that job. I agree the TSA is dumb and a lot of the agents are idiots with their heads up their asses, but not all of them. Most are pretty alright*

*I am white

Unless you're travelling on military orders, then it's "Thank you for serving, please step into our express lane, would your family like a gate pass?" I've been in the military for 5 minutes! I'm travelling from Chicago to South Carolina! (But yes, a gate pass would be great, thank you)

That and they change the rules every week. Few months ago I got yelled at for taking my laptop out. A few weeks later I got yelled at for not taking my shoes off because the 3 people in front of me didn't. Apparently if you're over 70, you can't be a terrorist (that's not a joke, that's how the idiot explained it to me).

I hate the TSA with a fiery passion.

I have. Last time I flew there was a very pleasant older black lady working the terminal. So there is at least one.

On the other hand, imagine what would happen if TSA taught their people how to identify Sikhs and adopted a policy not to profile them, and the knowledge of that policy was leaked. Any Islamist terrorists who want to hijack a plane would just dress less Sikhs. The solution is not to get better at guessing passengers' ethnicity, the solution is to get better at identifying the factors other than ethnicity that make a terrorist identifiable.

Sikh militants bombed Air India Flight 182 in 1985, killing 329 people. It's the largest mass murder in Canadian history (the plane was flying between Montreal and London and 268 Canadians were on board).

It was also the deadliest plane related terror attack until 9/11.

So Sikhs have also been responsible for plane terror in the past

And the Irish put bombs on trains in England, you don't see Irish people being searched when trying to go on a train.

I used to work as a TSA Agent. We were all required to get training on Sikhism and what it is.

You just leaked it! We're doomed!

But seriously, did you have an Arab-Muslim-dressed-as-Shik plan in place?

Well, what plan? We've got protocol for screening headwear, religious or not. If someone's got something they're gonna take down a plane with, it's gonna be found.

What is the plan for me having swallowed one part of a binary explosive and injected the other part into my gallbladder where it will sit for a few hours before being squirted into my digestive tract to the immense discomfort of all?

bearded brown guy here (not sikh). I laugh when they say random. Bitch if it was random why is it 100% of the time ME? At least own up to it,

"we don't trust you because some douchebags that look kinda like you do some shameful shit that we can't have happen so we're going to harass you, everyone you're travelling with and everyone that looks like you just to be safe"

cool. thanks. keep us safe, I have nothing to hide. I don't like fucking liars though

Black haired, brown eyed guy here. I'm all Caucasian with a splash of Native American. I got searched a lot right after 9/11. Since I went gray, they let up.

I'm a very light brown guy of Indian descent and the funny thing is I dress well(button down and jeans) and am always clean shaven and the TSA have never given me trouble at all whatsoever.

Blonde haired blue eyed white dude here. You are 100% correct. The color of your skin has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on your ability to threaten the safety of my flight. There's a hell of a lot more videos of psycho white kids trying to take guns through checkpoints than there are brown dudes trying to do that.

No group of blonde-haired blue-eyed people ever tried to take over the world, makes sense they would not worry about you.

That's what my dad says. He's fine with the searches, he gets it, but at least don't lie about it.

Lol, they have to lie. They'd never avoid the lawsuits, otherwise.

Why would he fly out of Baton Rouge instead of New Orleans? Does anybody fly out to Baton Rouge?

So bad that he was even searched at a small regional airport in Alabama!

Detroit Metro seems to give no fucks.

Sikh guy who flys into Detroit a ton here: No fucks given. They just wand over my turban to make sure I don't have anything they can't see and I'm on my way.

With such a large middle eastern population their racism is spread pretty thin.

Yep but it looks like Lansing is doing a better job.

And what the heck is that second one? Grand Rapids? Kalamazoo? A cornfield?

Not at the worlds busiest airport..huh. Hartsfield Jackson/Atlanta

[–]PM_ME_UR_TARANTULA 26ポイント27ポイント  (6子コメント)

I haven't got any tarantulas. I can't help you sorry.

[–]PM_ME_UR_TARANTULA 4ポイント5ポイント  (1子コメント)

That's okay. If you get one, make sure to send me a picture though!

He didn't say he didn't enjoy it.

I get randomly selected all the time just for the cavity search! It's more difficult to get than a hooker, but a helluva lot cheaper too.

If your religion requires you to carry a ceremonial dagger at all times, you're gonna have a bad time at the airport.

You are aware that the Kirpan is largely non-functional and is akin to a Christian wearing a cross around their neck, right?

I am, but the TSA isn't...

So true. I can't even bring my double edge razor on a carry on because some retard at the TSA thinks that's all I need to hijack an airplane. Nevermind the blue-haired grandma next to me with a 12 inch knitting needle, she's cool.

I wonder... If a Sikh were forced to remove the dagger even though it's integral religious wear, would that be violating their freedom of religion?

[–]turkey_sandwiches 3ポイント4ポイント  (1子コメント)

I understand it is common to wear a pendant or something similar that is shaped like a dagger.

Sikh here: 99.999999% of Sikhs don't carry a kirpan when outside of the Indian State of Punjab (homeland of the Sikhs). I've only ever seen one outside of a Sikh's home in non-ceremonial use. I think any person can be (and I hate to use this word) dumb enough not to carry around a kirpan to an airport.

Oh okay. Thanks. I don't know much about Sikhs other than that the few Ive net have been wonderfully polite and pleasant people.

Thats like saying a waterbottle usually contains water so no reason to check them. The logic is to check for the small chance its not what it usually is.

largely non-functional ...right...so that means...partially functional? I've never heard on any one physically maiming any one with a cross worn around their neck

By that, I think he means that you could kill someone with anything if you tried. This iPhone could be weapon of murder if I smash it into your temple enough times. I think that's what he or she meant up there.

Wait, why are they not checking at JFK!?

As a Kansas City resident, I was unaware there is an airport right in the middle of Missouri.

You can tell by the style of the turban that he's a Sikh.

his demographic just likes being searched.

Sikhs are bros. They actually assimilate into western society.

Just because this guy is wearing this teeshirt does not mean it happened.

What the hell was he doing in Bismarck North Dakota?

Edit: this has nothing to do with his nationality. I always question why someone would go there.

The star for Albuquerque, New Mexico is in the wrong place. Just sayin...

Michael Scott: What about you?

I.T. Guy: Well if you're going to reduce my identity to my religion, then I'm Sikh. But I also like hiphop and NPR. And I'm restoring 1967 Corvette in my spare time.

Michael Scott: Okay. So, one Sikh, and...

Yay tri-state airport!

Not CLT or ATL. Nice.

That Missouri star shows the airport in Boonville. Everybody gets searched at Boonville International.

i can't believe no ones mentioned this: What does he do for a living that allows him to travel so much, or how the hell does he afford to travel so much?

They will search a 90 year old white grandma before they search anyone Muslim looking.

The security checks should be taught to recognize the difference between Sikhs and Muslims. Muslims are the threat, not the Sikhs.

No searching in Alaska? Well noted.

"We randomly search passengers for your safety" vs. "recently, brown people have been dropping planes and suicide bombing busy places. Common sense tells us to search them"

Which one do you find "less offensive"? And I know a Sikh isn't a Muslim. If it were white people bombing planes I doubt you'd check for foreskin or what type of cross they're wearing.

In all seriousness, if you wear a turban expect to be selected so they can search it. You can fit almost anything in one.

Actually not. I'm a Sikh who wears a pagh (Sikh Turban). The pagh is tied in such a way that there are no large crevices to hide anything in. At the largest practical sense, the most you could hide would be a stack of 5-10 papers. Moreover, At most large airports, all I have to do is get a wand over the top to make sure I don't have anything they don't see. Usually, a quick glance at the top of my head will reveal about 99% of the turban's so-called "contents"

I wonder if This guy gets Sikh of traveling.

Ooo I wouldn't wear that to the airport

not what "following" means

If we're being real, and you're trying to stop someone from bombing your plane, who are you going to check? The white guy or the guy wearing a fucking turban? Which one is statistically more likely to divebomb a plane?

So, lesson for Muslim terrorists: Don't wear a turban and send the white converts instead.

Dunno why, but hes a major turbon.

Sikh and ye shall find.

[–]throwaway2552_117 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

To be fair you never know what he could be hiding in that unibrow

At least he doesn't get searched in Alaska or Hawaii

If i wanted to do some harm to someone on an airplane, and i looked like that, i would certainly wear that shirt....the mind games

What is this, some kind of Sikh joke?

Woo, he didn't get stopped in Palm Beach :D, we're not complete dick holes all of the time ;-:

Wow, looks like the Dayton airport is representing Ohio.

This guy is actually pretty hot. :)

At least one of those airports doesn't even exist...

this makes me sad, isn't a tenant of their faith to defend those in need?

When you wrap something up people instinctively wanna see inside.

What would be worse if the back said

PASSED WITHOUT A SEARCH IN THE FOLLOWING AIRPORTS

and the rest of the shirt was blank.

How is not knowing what a Sikh is part of basic TSA training. One of the most peaceful religions around.

The map comes before "following airports"... Just terrible.

Fully Sikh mate!

Here in Aus we have a 'random' drug and explosives test. They wave a device over you and then analyse for the presence of certain chemicals. I fly at least twice a week and am tested every time I go through. I am a 52 y.o white guy in a suit.
