Drake has said that he will spend up to 3-4 days on just a verse, he's never claimed to be a "traditonal freestyler", not to mention freestyling isn't going off the dome it's a rap that is free of style.

Sometimes they just can't be be bothered to throw a freestlye either, Kendrick, a lyricist of the year, when was meant to be free styling on Big Boys neigbourhood threw a couple of verses from TPAB in there - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ui0SmXGGm5M, for all we know the other verses are just from unreleased songs, doesn't mean I don't think Kendrick is a ridiculously good lyricist, Ive seen people from Kanye to Logic do this.

First off: Rap that is free of style? How fucking white and stupid are you? Freestyle has always been rapping off the top of your dome. Its been that way for decades. And if you did anything other than that, you were ridiculed for it. Been that way since before the 90s. Granted dudes would cheat and memorize writtens but we roasted them too. That's why sometimes in a freestyle dudes just throw words at guys and make them rhyme and make verse off them. Eminem was great at this.

2nd of all, I don't give a fuck that he rapped on Say What's Real that he wrote verses and lost them on a Blackberry. That's fine. No one said you can't write. Just don't go on the biggest radio show in the genre and claim to be freestyling when you're not even spittin memorized writtens and you're straight reading them from your Blackberry.

Don't make a song called Say Whats Real and then be fake yourself when you need to step to the plate and prove yourself.

Yeah I agree, cause I'm white I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm not even gonna argue with you about freestyling, as it's a common argument on HHH and there isn't an end to it but whatever. To add a source to my point:

When did he claim it even being a freestyle, he says at the beginning he thought about what he said last time and he clearly just wrote it for this show. Yea, take an imaginary W that you didn't get. The minute you asked for a source, you gave yourself an L. Everyone knows that before the internet and during the Golden Age, Funk Flex was THE gate keeper in the industry. If you had a hot track, Funk was the one to play it first. And if it was a particularly special or extra hot track, you not only heard it on Flex first, but that guy usually became a star.

Perfect example: Jay-Z by 1998 was considered a mediocre guy. Not popular. People knew him and sold some records. But he was nowhere near the top. He made Reasonable Doubt which was basically overlooked. Then he made In My Lifetime Volume 1. Nothing special at all. Then In My Lifetime Volume 2 was on its way and Jay made the song Hard Knock Life. Funk played that song first and it absolutely BLEW UP. From that moment forward, Jay skyrocketed to the top. Then "Can I Get A.." got released. Then "Money, Cash, Hoes". I remember when that track first got played. Funk played it about 3 times that night and Jay was basically solidified as a major player. And he was competing with DMX, Big Pun, Lauryn Hill, and a bunch of other huge albums that came out back then. Had it not been for Flex, we would have been talking about Jay-Z like, "Jay who? You mean that dude that used to rap real fast and wore the Hawaiian shirts??"

But that's shit you don't know of because you were probably still in diapers or going to pre-K and know nothing about until the internet came around.
