Give ya $15 for it

Sneaky GameStop...

Best I can do is in store credit

Actually now that I notice how dusty it is.. I have to apply a $30 cleaning fee so your total comes out to -15$, will that be cash or credit? Also would you like our sellers remorse warranty?

Also your pro membership is up would you like to renew it for only 15 bucks?

Would you like the strategy guide for $50?

this ins't 1999

Ok it's been a while since I've been to a gamestop. No regrets.

I had them pull that shit on me, "oh, it's the first Sunday of the month, we don't do cash."

They may have been low on cash...

Source: when I worked at gamestop managers were often lazy and would "forget" to run by the bank.

He said 15 dollars not 15 cents.

$20 I'll outbet this fool any day. I was one of the few people who actually loved his vita. Until I (and I kid you not) dropped it on the tile floor of my bathroom because the suction cups I was using to hold it up to the glass of my shower door so I could watch a Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon review while I showed gave out and it shattered on impact. Not the screen. The internals broke. :(

That is the weirdest fucking way I've ever heard of someone breaking a console

This tragedy is akin to that of the recent shuttle loss by Space X.
A tragedy no doubt, but there are sacrifices to be expected in the great pursuit of knowledge.

Actually gamestop will offer you 100 if you put it towards a 3DS

Funny because they're only worth $30 trade in. in the gamestop system, there's no differentiation between the original vita and the slim, so both are only worth $30.

Shitty, shitty gamestop.

I heard theyre going through a rebranding due to the bad wrap for game trade ins. Theyll soon be called GameRape.

That's funny, gamestop is just a rebranded funcoland from when they pissed off people before.

FUNCOLAND! Thank you! I have been trying to remember what that place was called!

I know a guy that's an expert in Playstation Vita's.

get danganronpa (spelling) and P4golden, its worth the price just for those 3

If I loved Persona 4 Golden, would I like Danganropa? They seem really different

They are different but Danganronpa I actually enjoy more but it's a different type of game. It's a visual novel game which is all about the story which means a ton of cut scenes. Similarly to P4G you can increase your relationships with different characters in the game and learn more backstory. Also throughout the game there are breaks from the usual 'walk around and read dialouge text' by crime investigations/trials. While the trials get a little while to get used to, it is quite fun to work your way through the crime with your character. I don't want to say anything about the story itself other then it gets dark, and beautifully twisted the further down the rabbit hole you get, and also you should play the two in order. I unfortunately played the 2nd one as my first ever VN game which made me love the genre but ruined parts of the story when I went back to play the first. Do yourself a huge favor and go and buy them right now..... Do it.

Just want to throw in my 2 cents. There really aren't very many cut scenes. The only ones I can think of are the executions (which are amazing, I might add). And if you're going to pick it up (just do it) then don't look up anything related to the series AT ALL until you're done. Avoid absolutely everything.

You only listed two games, I need to know the third one god dammit.

I love mine for indie gaming, between Spelunky, Binding of Isaac and Rogue Legacy I am always playing it!

Binding of Issac comes out tomorrow for the New 3DS XL

almost makes me want to buy one

too bad they don't have the regular sized one in the us

Man. Rogue legacy is the shit. Got it free with PS+ and haven't been able to put it down.

Definitely. Same thing happened with Binding of Isaac.

Me too. If you want to play roguelite games on the go, Vita is perfect.

As someone who likes JRPGs, I haven't put my vita down since launch as there is a constant flow of JRPGs coming out for it faster than I can complete them.

This is what is tempting me to buy one.

I've never played FF9 of FF12.

FF9, to me personally, is the greatest game ever made. You won't regret it if you love JRPGs.

When it comes to FFs 1-10, I really think it's whichever one you played first that is closest to your heart because they were all so good.

I think that's probably correct. 9 was my first. I loved the others (not XIII obviously, but the old ones) but never like that.

I don't know. I started with 7 but 9 is still my favorite. (+ tactics)

9 and tactics all the way. I would love to see like a game of Thrones or Anime style show using tactics Story line.

I started on one but 3(6) was my favorite. Kefka best villan ever.

8 is the best

Edit. I saw XIII and read it as VIII.

I agree I love 8.

8 gets a bad rap because it does a terrible job on explaining itself and the junction system. I learned to love it after my 2nd playthrough, even if it gets really really easy.

I want to like 8. I like the world and the characters. But I really hate drawing magic.

Interesting, doesn't hold for me though. I started with 4 (2 at the time), but 3/6 is my favorite in the numbered series. Tactics is my favorite if we count side games too.

FF1 holds a lot of nostalgia for me but III(VI) was my favorite. IV was very good too. Ive only played X and X2 since then and watch someone play VII for a while but I can't seem to get into the polygon versions.

I'm playing through Chrono Trigger for the first time and am enjoying it quite a bit.

I envy you so much. I seriously wish I could go back and play Chrono Trigger for the first time all over again. I wish there was even a single ending I never achieved so I could go back and do that too... Oh nostalgia...

Glenn's song still gives me chills when I hear it.

Possible, but there's a couple of freaks (like me) who played 7 then 8 and prefer 8

I know a lot of people that that is the case for but I also know a lot that it's not. My first was 1 and I played them in order (minus 2, 3, and 5 which I played later as they weren't released in the US ;P) but 7 is by far my favorite. The great thing about the FF games is how much they vary, each one strikes a chord with different people and yet they are all great games.

For me, FF9 has always been tied for best game with Skies of Arcadia. Both phenomenal JRPGs

Between my wife and I, we've both beaten Skies of Arcadia 5 times total. I did it once on the dreamcast, she did it once on the DC, then on the GC and recently the two of us traded off playing through the GC version.

And in every single playthrough the one thing we always do is save your starting uniform. It says in the description "Given to Vyse by his father" - how can you sell that??

Such a fantastic game. Will never sell.

BLASPHEMY . HOW DARE YOU COMPARE IT TO FF6 . I AM DISSAPOINTED IN THIS SUBREDDIT

the final fantasy argument of the ages.

No argument here. As a guy who played FF4-9 + 12 (plus like 30 min of 13), I honestly feel like there is no FF at the level of 6. Replayed that game a LOT of times.

No 10?

Never got around to playing it. PS2 laser failed and I never had the time to play it on PCSX2 fully since whatever free time I used on Tales games.

But it's on my to-do list!

[–]Cendeu 6

It seems like almost every RPG out there is "The greatest game ever made" to someone, which is great. When I hear that tag given to an RPG I always know I'll enjoy it. If someone out there loved it that much, surely I'll like it at least a little.

Also Tales of Symphonia is that RPG to me. I'll always love that game.

Playing through it on my vita atm

Not my favourite Square game (both Chrono games are 1a and 1b) but FF9 is up there

Have you ever tried Breath of Fire 4? It's slightly different in style, but it's one of my favorites. Very beautiful world and characters

I have it on my vita and still haven't gotten through it. Idk what it is, but I just don't like most of the characters so I ended up not really caring. I think I stopped on disc 3. Maybe I should just finish it up.

[–]dr_pavel_im_cia_ 6ポイント7ポイント  (8子コメント)

Same boat - stopped at disc 3. I feel like the battles were too slow

They definitely are. It takes around 13 seconds since triggering a battle to finally get into it, and there's some weird pauses where nothing happens for 1 or 2 seconds as in the actions are queued but not being executed. The animations of spells and abilities are also fairly long.

Look at this random battle. The trigger for it happens at :10, but nothing happens until :23 except that overly long introduction of the scenery and the enemies (and some sweet ass long loading time). See if you can notice the weird pauses that I mentioned.

When you add up all that, the amount of time of "nothing" happening definitely makes the battles super slow. That and the random battles are the main reason I can't go back to playing some of the old FF games.

Good god, is that what that game really looked like?! It was so beautiful when I was 10 ;_;

FF12 is not on the Vita. Only PS2 as of now.

If it comes out on vita I will buy one in an instant. That game is gold and I'd love it portable

FFXII is the one I want on the Vita or remade to the PS3/PS4. I sold my PS2 like an idiot near the end of the systems' life so I missed out on FFXII.

There was a F12 remake?

This needs an answer. I'n currently replaying it on ps2 but would love to have it a bit more mobile.

[–]Zaloon 5

No, there isn't a FFXII remake or remaster.

wait... FF9 is on PSVita?

Ok I'm not gonna lie, this is one of the only uses for the Vita. Almost any other game for it other than JRPGs are not worth buying.

Like, Persona 4 Golden, Gravity Rush (admittedly not an rpg) are the only Vita only games that I found worth playing, but it does have a LOT of jrpgs.

Danganronpa. One of my favorite series of all times now. Got the first game randomly as a gift and holy shit.

Is the gameplay similar to how the anime played out? They made an anime of it and it was like a murder mystery thing.

They are the same thing, but in the game you walk around the school, investigate in first person, and interact with the other characters.

Is it exclusively on PS vita?

Yes it is. It has a sequel that was released last year and then there is another Danganronpa game coming out later this year that takes place between the two. Only on Vita...unless you want to import the PSP versions from Japan

It's a great indie machine and PS1 emulator as well. Velocity Ultra / 2X, OlliOlli, Rogue Legacy, tons of classic PS1 games, etc.

I've been thinking of getting one for this reason exactly. What are some of the best ones you've played?

I suggest Persona 4 Golden and Dangan Ronpa (currently playing through both).

A lot of folks like Gravity Rush as well, though I've not played it myself.

Tales of Hearts R Disgaea 3 and 4

YS Memories of Celceta is a lot of fun.

Yeah, it's an jrpg goldmine. There are always new ones coming out every few months. I love it.

I loved the vita, its a great piece of hardware really, its just a shame it had so few games I wanted to actually play.

Its stuck in a catch 22. No one is buying it because it doesn't have any games and it doesn't have any games because no one is buying it.

I've never understood the hate towards vita honestly. I bought mine a couple years ago and still play it quite frequently. There are plenty of games for the device and I have more than I'll ever be able to play, it just doesn't have near as many games as a console which isn't really a fair comparison.

what are the non jrpgs that you like for it?

Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048, Killzone Mercenary, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Virtues Last Reward/Danganronpa (not jrpgs, they are visual novels. Give them a shot), a ton of fighting games (i.e. Mortal Kombat 9, Injustice, Street Fighter X Tekken, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 etc), Tearaway, Dragons Crown, a ton of indies...plus jrpgs

thanks!

need 4 speed is my favorite btw , check it out

Ahh yes, I forgot about that one! It runs really well on the vita, they gave it away digitally for free a few months ago so I forgot about it since it's not in my physical collection.

The game unit 13 is fucking amazing for vita.

IMHO the biggest thing wrong with it is the proprietary only storage options. I would spend way more money on games if I had access to cheap storage for the thing.

It never made since to me why Sony would think it was a good idea. it costs them money to create proprietary memory and that keeps prices high and has a cooling effect on the games market, Which costs them way less money.

Agreed. When I worked for Sony around 2002, they were really pitching their memory sticks as THE up and coming storage solution, in direct competition with SD cards. Just another instance of VHS vs. betamax, IMO.

[–]Ikeelu 6

The storage and the charger. If it has micro usb and a micro sd card, it would of been a lot better.

That and the account issues. If you have multiple PSN accounts (because a lot of people who had accounts as kids and kept them when they turned 18+ cannot have a full account so they had to make a second account) it's just utter hell and you have to buy a different memory card for each account and completely flash the entire fucking system every time you swap accounts.

I'm in the same boat as you dude. I really like the vita, but I can either juggle downloads, or pay a ridiculous amount for storage. I choose neither.

I'm not disagreeing, just thought I'd list stuff in case you're still looking for stuff:

Spelunky, Isaac: Rebirth, Persona 4 Golden, Gravity Rush, Don't Starve, Rogue Legacy, Hotline Miami 1/2, Luftrausers, Fez, Velocity, Velocity 2X, Tearaway, LBP, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa Rebirth, Guacamelee, Rayman, Sound Shapes, Virtue's Last Reward, Dangan Ronpa, Shovel Knight and Child of Light.

Only problem is, most of those are on PC, 3DS, Playstations, etc. So, depending on his preference, he may have already played most of those.

What people really want is something like Monster Hunter, The Elder Scrolls (one was supposed to come out for PSP but never did), or maybe a fallout of Diablo like game for it.

I'm sorry but if I buy a $260 portable device I want to play juicy 3d games. I did enjoy Assassin's Creed on my vita though.

$260 portable device

$170 now, but as a 3DS early adopter I feel the price pain.

I recently bought a Vita for Persona 4 and the PSM hack. (came on 3.15 so I used the PS3 trick to install e-CFW)

Persona 4 is a fantastic game so far.

[–]Wulfys 1

Persona 4 Golden and Mortal Kombat 9 are the only games I play on my Vita

Vita? You mean Persona 4 Golden device?

Right here, man. I've had my vita for awhile and it's basically my P4G and Muramasa machine. That being said, thems some of the best games I've ever played.

P4G Is one of the best experiences in gaming, like damn, I just hope P5 will see a vita port

I bought my boyfriend the white vita a few years ago because he was really in love with the thing. He had it a few months and didn't put it down but then it broke and he sent it in for repair. They sent a new one in black back and now He barely touches it and I'm trying to convince him to sell it. I spent too much money on that thing for it to be so neglected lol

...he doesn't play it because it's black or he just lost interest?

Sorry I wasn't clear, I was more upset about the black one because the one I bought was more expensive lol But not long after he got it back the back buttons were getting stuck so he swears that's the only reason he doesn't play it. I mostly think he's just not interested.

These seem to be hated by everybody I know but I love mine. I take it when out of town with my phone, Dr appointment when I'm sitting in the waiting room and boring family events. Every PS4 game i play works remotely. I recommend the trigger case though. It would be nice if the screen was a few inches bigger.

The worst part is that it's a really capable system. It's just that no one makes games for it.

I got one free when I bought a vaio for college. Chose between a vita, PS3, and a blue ray player. Should've got the PS3

Why would they even offer the blu Ray? Even if you have zero interest in the ps3, it has a built in blu Ray so maybe somewhere down the line you decide you want to game, there's already a console waiting for you

who the hell would have picked the blu ray player? I remember when Blu rays first came out, they were 600$ at the cheapest, and they put them up against the PS3 which was also 600$ Who, and why would anybody buy a regular old bluray player.

Your shelf/ entertainment system is just as dusty. Clean your room!

Get binding of isaac

My PSP looked like that before the Vita even got announced.

Sony really dropped the ball. They should have marketed it as a mobile retro emulator console and just made huge amounts of cash as it works great for that.

Though FF7 is a bit tough on that tiny screen.

i was on vacation in tokyo last year, the subway, parks, just walking on the streets, the city was FULL of people playing with the vita, i think it just didn't sell that good in the west, but in japan it was definitely a hit.

I've been living in Tokyo the past year. I saw maybe 3 vitas....and countless PSPs/3DSs.

It can run Playstation games? Is that with an unofficial emulator?

When it released, there was a tool that allowed you to rip and convert PS discs. I did this to my copy of FF7. 3 discs > SD Card.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-to-converting-ps1-games-for-psp.206195/

It does take a custom firmware, at least in my case it did. I have a day 1 PSP.

Haven't messed with it in years.

You can play FF VII officially on PS Vita. I owned it digitally on my PSP and it is available on Vita. The only digital PSP game that didnt work for me was Gran Tourismo

Did you ever put CFW on your PSP? Then you have all the NES SNES some 64 games (most of the good ones), free PS1 games, and most importantly gameboy and gameboy advanced games.

All very easy to do I could drop box you all the files if you wanted and you just C&P them into your PSP game folder done and done. If you don't want the CFW anymore you just delete the folder I gave you from your system and all the extra stuff is gone.

CFW was the only reason why I bought a PSP. It was the best portable emulation machines at the time. I had maybe three official games for the system and I used the thing for six years until it was stolen.

I think they should've did a steam model when they went with the psp go and just start slashing prices for digital games. I think more people would've bought it if you could get ps1 games for like $2 and psp games for less than $10 (aside from new releases).

If you got a PS4 the VIta is great for remote play.

It's really not.

I bought one for this, the streaming works well but ps4 games just aren't meant to be played on tiny screens, with dodgy controls.

Ya, I'm a little disappointed they couldn't just implement a PS4 controller and the PS Vita touch screen and ports and what not. Those clicks sticks and R2/L2 controls are way out of my league.

Agreed that the controls can be shitty, although once I got used to them it's fairly simple. I've been playing the Witcher, Destiny, as well as many other indie games.

Destiny has the best vita controls of any game I have used it for.

Rocket league works really nicely as well.

I have a Vita and VitaTV and both are shit for streaming. I live in a small apartment and my signal is constantly lagging or dropping completely, despite not being 15ft from the PS4. Games are pretty much unplayable as there is a noticable lag when registering button presses. It's really atrocious, considering that was the main selling point for the VitaTV.

Edit:PSTV

You have to use an ethernet unless you have gigabit wireless or some future crap. Takes a lot of data. Wire up.

Fuck - Remote play alone makes it worth it. I'm jamming to ESO, BF4 etc. I think the only games I own are free PS Plus ones ha ha.

And they are a lot. I've only purchased ps1 games for Vita, the remaining 40 or so were free with PS+.

I use my Vita all the time. During college I use it more than my PS4 and PC for gaming.

Dude my Vita is probably sick of Persona 4 Golden by now. I think it may hate me for how much I play it.

if you have android, some clever chap created an app called PPSSPP, it is a full psp emulator with network and homebrew app support.

It's on Windows/Mac/Linux/BSD as well. One of the best modern emulators.

Does that run vita games?

I can not understand things like this. I bought mine second hand few years ago. Not a single regret. Everyday I use it and still shines like new. Games like Big Sky Infinity, Souls Sacrifice, Hotline Miami, Persona 4 and many many others really work wonderful on the vita. Hell, I can remote play Dark Souls 2 on it.

So why the hate? What is the problem with the Vita? No more Call of Duty? Sony not spending tons of money on marketing and exclusives? Is that so important?

I'm using mine for psp and ps1. I just started chrono trigger

My GF and I just bought ours off someone for 100 bucks with 4 games. We haven't put it down since we got it. We are completely in love with Zero Escape 2: Virtue's Last Reward, and are looking to expand our library with other cool JRPGS we've never heard of. My plan with the Vita is to just try cool, weird, new games, and just roll with the punches.

...Then buy some games for it

you need to import games from japan. Plus JRPGs are coming out like crazy on the Vita.

I got Rogue Legacy for the Vita through my PS+ sub. I've been playing it almost every single day since.
Also a few other titles.
shrugs
One of the better purchases I made last year.

Why? PSPlus has given me more than enough amazing games to use my PSVita constantly. OLLIOLLI

I actually really like my vita it doesn't have a whole lot of huge games attached to it but it does have some that are really good and the indie support is fantastic.

I think they finally realized that unless you have the major, GIANT IPs like Nintendo has, portables aren't that much better than the phone in everyone's pocket. And it won't be long until phones are on par or better.

The problem with phones is my fingers get in the way of the screen. I also need the physical feel of buttons.

I know you can pair up a PS3 controller, but it's not really feasible for every day gaming on the go. My Vita does come in handy, but I wish there were more games.

That sucks. The PSP was great. Now we're gonna be stuck with a 3ds or a bunch of shitty games with a bunch of IAPs that drain battery faster than anything else.

Well my collection of Vita games proves you're not even trying to look for any games, and I have more digital than physical games with all the great PS1, PSP, and indies.

But I guess that's the Vita and Sonys fault and not yours right?

We need a new dissidia

I use vita for remote playing my PS4 while my GF watches TV/sleeps so I can game in bed. its actually really convenient when I want to be with her but also game. I can imagine this feature would also be great for people with kids and anyone who has to share a TV. I think its an underrated device.

I still enjoy and play mine now and then. In truth though, most the games I play on it can be played on my PS3 or PS4. It's just that some games seem better suited to handheld.

I turn it on once a month to download free games. Then play my DS.

I play the hell out of mine. I have had to get a replacement last year when i wore out the joy stick.

maybe if monster hunter hadnt switched to nintendo 3ds i would have bought one

I found two sealed PS Vita games at Goodwill (Uncharted for $9 and Hot Shots Golf for $8) so my wife and I picked up a PSTV to play them.

Those two games don't work on PSTV, so now it sits much like your Vita. Wanna trade?

Yeah, it's a shame that it didn't catch on like other portable systems.

There are so many PSN games that span multiple consoles that I love playing.

Heck I've got a PSTV set up, it is essentially the same thing as Vita without the display.

Dude, Rogue Legacy!

Oh.. Another Vita hate post.

They're more Vita sad posts.

I bought one early, so I agree with you, it's just sad. I've never bad mouthed the system, I have however acknowledged that I almost never use it.

So disappointing. I bought my Vita and was really excited to use it. Then I found out it was an ergonomic nightmare and my hands cramped up within minutes of playing anything. That, coupled with remote play being extremely spotty (for me, at least) and seemingly zero interest on the part of Sony in making it a better product, prompted me to sell it at a loss before it became completely worthless.

like I said in another comment: I too had this problem. Check the setting on your PS4. It defaults to an option that sets up its own shitty wifi direct to the Vita. Once you tell the PS4 to use your actual router it plays much much better.

Also, get the Nyko Power grip. Night and day difference! I've been playing Grim Fandango and MGS like a boss since!

Been playing Taiko no Tatsujin V for the past week. Vita means life!

I still use remote play every now and then.

I wish I could find a good deal on one, but the system plus the memory card is still way out of my price range. I might pick one up on a year or two though.

I find that hard to believe, I bought a Vita Slim with 4 games for $120 on eBay.

My friend just spent 180$ on a vita to play on a road trip. Bought a game for $20 and then bought FFX/FFX-2 for $30 and played 3 hours total and hasn't touched it since.$230 down the drain for nothing.

As someone who's on a trip in Asia... "IMPORT" ALL THE GAMES

I'm surprised how much support the vita got over on the JP market

I'm in my third now, just traded in my 3DS and a few games for £110. I actually did well on that deal.

I can download all my old games for it along with any Vita versions of games that I got from the PS+ store. That plus the PS4 connectivity make this a really underrated piece of kit for me.
