This is the kind of girl that the dad from Everybody Hates Chris would love one of his sons to bring home.

Getting that 2 for 1 deal when there isn't one

I quote this show all the time and no one gets it. Rochelles "My man got 2 jobs I quit" and gregs "dude you are so in there "

I use the "Little man from across the street! Lemme hold a dollar." line all the time and no one seems to get it.

I like how he knows the exact cost of everything. "Chris, turn that life off! You just wasted 31¢ of electricity.

"Unplug that clock boy. You can't tell time while you sleep! It's 2 cents an hour!"

I usually stuff an extra orange when buying a box of oranges at Costco.

My dad did that with the mangos there and they called his ass out on that.

how tho?

[–]better_with_muffins 90ポイント91ポイント  (26子コメント)

Usually they're X per box.

so the guy counted? or was it just really obvious that there were too many?

It's pretty obvious if you were to do this. It's kind of like cutting open an egg carton, and putting another egg on top of the others.

Then...why not just open the carton of eggs?

Have you never seen a carton of eggs? There is a spot for each egg. An extra egg would be very obvious.

I have seen a carton of eggs, and also seen the part where you lift the lid. Which is why I wondered why the other commenter said "cutting open"

He is saying that there is not room for an extra egg in the box so to fit an egg in the box you would need to cut a hole in it.

You look at fucking boxes of oranges all day I guarantee you can spot an overstuffed one. It's not like counting out digits of pi or some shit.

They have people on the floor man, watching you. Not to mention the cams, in every isle. They have walkies too on person. Its really easy for them actually.

Sometimes other customers will call you out on it.

One time this woman made a huge scene on my parents. She was spouting off about how she knows that manager and shit. Like rhubarb lady style freakout.

That's so fucking petty and beautiful; I love it.

Which brings you right up to the correct number of oranges because the last guy took one out of your box to add to his.

Sometimes when I buy avocados I will pick 3 small ones and 1 big one and tell them they are all the small ones. I regret nothing.

Also known as theft.

BUT THEFT IS ILLEGAL?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

YEAH BUT THEY WERE STEALIN FROM ME SO ITS OKAY

man. I couldn't imagine having a trash ass chick like that. not only is this bitch opening up and pouring detergent in the middle of the store, she got somebody taking a picture of it too.

...to go put on her twitter....that she probably checks with an iphone. the fuck out of here. if you want to save money bitch order online or some shit.

now you just fucked up somebody else trying to get a bottle of detergent because you thought it was cute.

if I was with a chick and she pulled some grimy shit like this, over detergent..her ass is getting left. both at the store and in general.

The have detergent locked up where I'm from.

[–]PM_ME_UR_BELLYBUTON 79ポイント80ポイント  (74子コメント)

Where are you from? They have razors locked up in some stores in Canada.

You gotta ask at the counter for baby milk

Not surprising. Do you have any idea how hard it is to milk a baby?

To be fair they're born with teets, can milk pretty much anything with teets

I have nipples, Greg. Could you milk me?

Have nipples. Unable to confirm.

Not that you could actually like milk a baby.. But sometimes babies will lactate shortly after being born because of extra hormones from the mother.

Still worth it though, it is slightly sweeter.

It's easier if you have a passion for it

[–]PM_ME_UR_BELLYBUTON 23ポイント24ポイント  (21子コメント)

Wtf are they scared you gonna get too many nutrients?

People steal n act like bitches when they caught. Ppl used to sell shit like diapers n baby formula for drugs

[–]PM_ME_UR_BELLYBUTON 9ポイント10ポイント  (15子コメント)

People are fucked smh.

It is man, I'm from Canada too and went for a road trip down to Pennsylvania. We went to a grocery store and right at the front beside the managers office was all the baby formula under lock and key. I couldn't understand why.

Because baby formula is expensive.

Its expensive in Canada too but it still sits on a shelf with everything else

It's two fold, one people just steal it and sell it to bodegas and shit for drug money, and two people steal it to cut drugs with. Some stores will have them locked up if its a high theft item there, others just keep security/asset protection guys on them.

You cut drugs with baby laxative, not baby formulas.

Where the hell were you? -PA guy

Could be anywhere in Reading/Philly/Allentown - PA guy

The grocery store was in Harrisburg, we stayed in Lancaster

They lock it up in mifflin county too. Lewistown, milroy, Belleville, this is like a place full of Amish.

Or you know to provide essentials for your baby.

Kinda ducked up place to live in where people have to either steal things like that or buy them from the black market.

Lots of people steal baby formula. It's locked up in a lot of drug and grocery stores.

Nah it's because baby shit is super expensive.

That's why I use dollarbabymilkclub.com

[–]Juts 0

Baby milk is probably the #1 or #2 most stolen item at those stores before they did that.

In my county, they lock up the $1 pregnancy tests... because the hos will literally take the test in the store bathroom, trash the results, and leave.

[–]Nach0Man_RandySavage 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

It's the saddest thing I can think of.

It isn't locked up where I'm from, but I remember reading this a while back, and that's probably why.

TL;DR; You can buy weed/crack with Tide.

I honestly don't understand this. Tide smells like a bag of asses compared to og gain.

Thank you! I was just thinking about that article and I couldn't recall where I had seen it.

I'm in the US. It's not at every store or anything but usually in the "black neighborhoods". Don't hate me for saying that but you can drive 15 miles in the other direction and they don't have to do that.

razors are one of the top items stolen from stores

Because they charge $20 for about 20¢ worth of product. Razors are bull shit.

Dollar shave club is decent, and shitloads cheaper than the usual brands.

Their supplier is dorcousa.com. Save money and order directly from them.

Comments like these man... go you!

Beards are even cheaper.

You still gotta keep it tidy though

A pair of scissors costs almost nothing and last for many years.

My beard grows up into my cheeks a bit high, and goes quite low on my neck. Scissors don't work for that.

All locked up with the cough syrups in Edmonton. It's an interesting city.

[–]PM_ME_UR_BELLYBUTON 1ポイント2ポイント  (6子コメント)

Very. For a period you had to go to the front counter to buy Listerine because the Natives would drink that shit up. I'm not exaggerating.

hmm, I thought they did that everywhere...

[–]PM_ME_UR_BELLYBUTON 1ポイント2ポイント  (2子コメント)

Maybe, depends on the store. Usually there's a case holding the razors in that when you open it it dings. Odd.

The only restricted access item in Summerlin in Vegas is Sudafed-type cold meds.

That's because some gangs use it as currency for drug transactions.

That's when you know you live in the wrong area.

20 bucks a bottle and apparently can be traded for drugs. Read an LA times article on it a couple years back.

There used to be an issue at my local grocery store where people would load up carts with laundry detergent and walk out the front door. The 16 year olds working there couldnt do shit besides call the cops and they'd be long gone. They'd just drive a town over and sell them at the trailer park for 10 to 20 a piece and bam, your unemployed theiving ass just made 100 bucks.

It seems like every time I stop at a Walgreens in a town I've never been to there is something different locked up. I've seen detergent, gum, condoms, baby formula, razors and even toothpaste locked up! It's staring to turn into a Bingo game for me.

I've seen one with beef jerky locked up, also aspirin and vitamins.

Everytime I visit a new Walgreens I walk around to see what they have locked up purely out of curiosity.

I tried to tell someone this before on Reddit and they didn't believe me. Said Google search didn't give any results... I've seen it!

In places apparently (stolen) liquid Tide is a widespread barter currency. Even to buy drugs.

A few months back I bought a bottle of Tide and once I got it home and opened the lid for the first time, I realized it was only about 2/3 full. I'm sure someone had done this to it

right? that's like you feeling like 3 hotpockets should come in a box, so you open one up, take it out, put it in your box and close the other one. it's trifling.

Well I mean it depends on one thing. Do these bottles of detergent claim to contain a certain volume of liquid, and do they in fact contain that much? If 'no' to the first it is obviously just stealing. If 'yes' to the first and 'no' to the second, then it's fair game as far as I'm concerned. If 'yes' and 'yes', we're back to stealing.

[–]parenthetical___ 3ポイント4ポイント  (0子コメント)

Gov't regulates this and fines companies that have less, so you always get more. Source: my dad calculates how much more to put in etc.

no, you see that's just how it is sold nowadays. how is she supposed to fill hers all the way up with someone elses if it's more than 2/3 full? If it came full, you wouldn't be able to add more to it.

You both feel slighted, and now you know you have more in common with this woman than you ever thought.

No, the bottle I bought was missing several inches. I buy at least two a month and I have for years, so I'm familiar with how much should be in a full bottle. Yes, a "full" bottle still has room at the top and one could easily top it off in the store like this lovely lady is doing. But it's still stealing and screwing someone else over who grabs the bottle you poured from in a hurry and doesn't realize til it's too late.

[–]Thark 0

This is why when I do this I leave the cap off the one I used so somebody either fills it up before buying it or uses it to top off another one

Or the 2/3 fill is the standard and that's why she was adding more to the bottle.

I buy the same kind every time and the bottle had at least 3 inches less detergent in it

So much THIS!! FOH with that shit, I'm embarrassed just looking at the picture. For some reason seeing this one ALWAYS makes me irrationally angry.

yea its hella grimey but who would pick up an empty bottle of detergent and not immediately just pick another one though

She looks like one of those classless trash hos that stuff water bottles up her cooch to sneak free Baja Blast refills at the Taco Bell.

"NIQQA, I AIN'T PAYIN' BUCK FITTY FO DAT DRANK! I GOTS MY OWN CUP RIGHT 'ERE!" reaches into vag

Nah, they took the picture for facebook

with the baby right there too. man.

Or ya know, make your detergent. Takes 4 ingredients and about 10 minutes. I bought $8 worth of ingredients years ago, the shortest lasting one got me to 20 gallons, it's a $3 ingredient and I have enough of the other stuff to easily make another 40 gallons. So $14 for 60 gallons of detergent.

you mind elaborating on the ingredients? we all have different definitions of what 60 gallons of detergent will reliably wash.

Fels naphtha, borax, washing soda and water. I've been washing my clothes in it for a while, even has a nice scent, but you have to shake it every time. It's neat after you first make it because it gels up in the water and you have to stir it really good to break it up, I kinda like to play with it then. It's easy to find the recipe online. There's also a dry recipe but I believe it may be way more concentrated.

Implying people like this can budget or have any class.

Implying they can budget? Does this picture not show you someone That is budgeting, no ? I feel like running into a wall after reading this comment

No, it does not show somebody who is budgeting. It shows theft.

yeah I'd leave her ass at the general store.

It was a full bottle before the previous chic got there. :( It's an endless cycle.

What's wrong with checking Twitter on your phone? Tweetbot is the shit son.

Dollar General? 💵

You can save money by ordering detergent online? How do you do that?

They do this so there is air in the bottle and the liquid doesn't get crushed in transport.

Stupid bitches who don't understand fill by weight not volume..

That's why you pick up two and compare the weight when you're buying. Think of me, /u/grilledcheeser every time you do this for the rest of your life

Or you could make your own. Costs about four dollars and takes 20 minutes to make five gallons.

Detergent? Is it really that easy? I've never even thought of making my own. Haha

Yea, my gf makes it. I'm not sure the recipe but it's super easy and works really well.

four dollars twenty minutes

Using the savings to buy marijuanas.

Pothead confirmed.

What if pouring detergent into another bottle becomes so widespread that it's not only possible, but likely that two bottles are missing detergent? Better pick up 4 or 5 just to make sure.

I did this last weekend. But from my mother's house, not Target.

It was only filled up half way because someone as desperate as her already did the same thing with that bottle.

Not true. I work at a grocery store and the detergent aisle is one of my aisles. None of the laundry detergent bottles come more than about 3/4 full and generally, the larger the bottles, the less full they are.

Good thing they have the FL oz on the bottle. So if one bottle is 12oz and the next is 14oz but is twice the size chances are you're still only paying for the amount of liquid. It's not going to be twice the price because it's twice the size.

Long story short, you're not LOSING money or being ripped off because the bottle isn't full. You would only know you were getting ripped off if the price was more now for less product. Generally that's not the case.

It's inefficient packaging though, and it leads to people doing this (I've had it happen in my store as well). When the store has to damage out products like this, the cost is passed on to the consumer (on a corporate level, they look at the amount of damages. If 5% of a product line ends up damaged, the price will be that much higher for the consumer).

Inefficient packaging also loses money for both the product manufacturer and the store due to out of stock products. Especially with something like laundry detergent, where I can only fit 3-7 bottles deep on the shelf (for standard 50-150 oz bottles, depending on size and brand). If they were packaged more efficiently, I could probably fit 30-40% more bottles on the shelf. This probably doesn't effect the price much for the consumer, but it's nice to go to a store that still has a good selection of items available, even if you go at night when they are more likely to be out.

It's not inefficient packaging because the air allows for the liquid to move around in transport. If you want efficient packaging, buy the box of powdered detergent.

I'm pretty sure you have no clue what you are talking about.

If you want efficient packaging, buy the box of powdered detergent.

Wrong. Powered packaging has a much higher rate of settling. Powders are generally blowin in at high speeds. As the product is shipped it settles leaving free space in the box.

Liquids like detergent have a low expansion coefficient. They need very little air space to deal with changes in volume due to heating and cooling.

No. This is all marketing. People buy larger packages because they think they are getting more even if the same weight is in each bottle. All this stuff was A/B testing using decently sized groups.

Crazy idea: make the bottle transparent. But then they'd have to give up this bs game of who has the biggest bottle...

There are several detergent brands that already do this. They also seem to sell very poorly in my experience. Dunno if those things are related, though.

This is why I appreciate stores that show the price per ounce.

Now if only the medicines would be measured in price per dosage instead of price per oz....The ounce rate doesn't apply if you're comparing tablets to liquid.

It shows the dosage on the bottle. Just divide the price by the dosage and divide again by the number of doses. It's not exactly rocket surgery (although you're going to be dealing with small fractions of a cent per mg for most drugs)

That happens all over the place. Cereal boxes are like half full of cereal. Same with chip bags. Those little hummus containers are raised in the center. etc.

I don't know for sure about liquids but there's a good reason when it comes to chip and things like that.

“Slack fill” is an intentional choice by snack makers who want to protect their delicate products from the damage of rough handling during the shipping process. When products are stacked atop one another, crammed into tight spaces, or simply jostled around in the back of a delivery truck, slack fill serves as an air cushion that prevents potato chips from becoming potato crumbs.

That’s not just any ordinary air puffing up potato chip bags, either: It’s nitrogen. Oxygen can cause the potatoes to spoil and the oil to go rancid, and the humidity found in ambient air makes the chips go soggy. Instead, packages are filled with nitrogen gas to help the snacks stay fresh, which a trained panel of tasters confirmed in a 1994 food science study.

That said, sometimes there is more air than is needed. But you'll note Pringles always come at least 90% filled because their packaging is entirely different allowing far more compacted contents. You don't have to worry about chips breaking each other and getting damaged by outside forces when they're the exact same size and stacked atop one another, with no room for movement, and protected by strong cardboard sides.

With chips I know they put more air in them so they don't get crushed, and with chips and cereal at least some of the extra space is because of settling. For a liquid product they don't have this excuse.

you're stealing from the next person, dumbshit, just don't buy that brand then

Why would you post a picture of yourself stealing shit on the internet? People are fuckin stupid.

call the police, the way she's dressed must be illegal

Also the stealing. I think that's illegal too.

I've heard of people stealing toilet paper from public restrooms, buying a bottle of expensive shampoo along with a bottle of the cheap stuff, taking it home, switching the expensive into a plastic bag, putting the cheap into the expensive, and expensive into cheap, then going back to store and returning expensive.

Gotta love a thief.

Good job, thief. Ugh.

Fuck her, that shit isn't cool.

Definition of entitlement

Reminds me of this routine from some standup about a Dutch Supermarket where we used to be able to fill our bags and weigh it ourselves. We can't do this anymore, sadly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXkTGiF9bU4

This is exactly the reason why the detergent at my store have spider wire locks on them.

Damn people are stupid. If they could fill it all the way they would charge you double the price. If you want to save money, fucking google. It took less than one minute to find out I can save detergent by filling the cap halfway.

But her shopping cart is in the middle of the aisle and when you roll up trying to pass she is oblivious to your being there. Fuck that bitch.

you know, in some ways she's right... If they didn't try to fool you with bigger packaging, they could pass the savings onto the consumer and make the product cheaper. It's fucking greedy of the corporations.

Keloggs (or maybe General Mills?) tried this awhile back. People stopped buying their cereal because the boxes were smaller and people thought they were getting less.

If only Kelloggs had had another option.

Yeah, they learned to keep the boxes the SAME size, while reducing the weight and keeping the price as high as the old box. Many people don't know they are being deceived until after they have bought the box because they thought they were buying a product they knew.

They mark the size on each of the bottle, if a 32 oz bottle is only filled half way, they'll say 16 oz. They aren't falsely advertising, people just need to pay attention.

Even the weight/volume is deceiving! You should be wary if you see 'New Formula, same product!' label. Doesn't matter how heavy it is if the formula is diluted by the manufacturer.

The old Tide bottles say consumers get 60 loads of laundry per 100-ounce bottle. That's 1.67 ounces of detergent per load.

The new 92-ounce containers will only be enough to do 48 loads of laundry. That translates to 1.92 ounces of detergent per load, according to the Public Investigator's calculation. In other words, 20% less.

Getting less detergent in the bottle, having to use more product per load, and paying a higher price at the store means consumers are really being taken to the cleaners.

The crazy thing about Tide is that now they even have a even more diluted version called 'Tide Simply'

It's so you can more easily pour the bottle without spilling detergent everywhere. Kind of like when you open a new gallon of milk that first pour is always harder than the rest of the container.
