I didn't find this splatfest as fun as the first one. I found there was much more connecting issues, mainly the other team (team sleep I was team eat) missing a player or two, I must have gone about 10 matches in a row without being against a full team. Although it's nice to win, most of the matches was just too one sided when there missing a guy and it wasn't fun. Plus a lot of team members on my side kept leaving the room even if we'd won so I couldn't get a good team going where as in the last splatfest I had a team who stayed with me for about 3 hours and it was amazing playing with them.

Strange, on my end it looked like you guys on Eat were regularly launching without full teams.

I did get one game where I was the only player fighting a team of four eats.

I did get a solid team going, well...a solid wingman at least. However connection issues did get particularly unacceptable at some points.

This was the first splatfest I was actually allowed to play. I only managed to pick a team last time. I really had loads of fun, played with so many great people.

I loved the atmosphere and all the new music was great. I want another one! Can't wait for the results, go team eating!!!

This was also the first time I got to sit down and enjoy a Splatfest, even though I participated in the NA one. The thing about splatfest is that it's got that competitive edge to it, but it still remains so extremely fun. I never felt like I was grinding on my way to King/Eternal rank. I played a solid 20+ games with one team, and we kept using the D-pad callouts when somebody got a nice kill, and it was overall an extremely fun experience!

The D-pad callouts were so great with these great teams! I never felt like I was grinding either, it was great that I still got points even if I lost. Plus no lose felt too harsh.

Everyone should play this way all the time!

I try to use D-Pad call outs in usual turf war but people don't often respond. when they do though, it makes it more awesome

Basically, Marie gets shafted again.

It is so satisfying finding a team with decent squids and be able to keep playing with them. As well as knowing your team-mates can handle themselves you can actually learn their play styles and be proper team, which is the main feature of the game after all.

[–]NeJinNNID: xan 4

Splatfest was fun, but either I had a pretty good run or the Matchmaking was really screwy this time ; most of my enemys seemed to be newbies. Non-flinging rollers were a common sight to me, and I scored highly (1st place, most splats, 1000+) almost every game. Connection was fine for the most part though; uneven teams rarely happened, and only few games crashed. Only complaint I have is that I didn't get to stick with teams for long this time. Go Team Sleep!

Same here but I was with team eat.

Results are in! http://imgur.com/1gJbCti

Rock eaters rule, i guess

I am a rock eater, can confirm

Dang. Very close

what's weird is that these results are only 1 percent away from being the same as the Cats Vs. Dogs results

Not the popularity numbers, 63-37; there were nearly twice the number of players on Team Eating.

Wow even with the landslide popularity Team Eat still lost on win ratio compared to Team Sleep. That's a disappointing win for Eat but I'm happy with the score anyway, I still have a ton of snails from the last splatfest unused! I'm looking forward to the next one!

I was Team sleep. Nearly slept over the Splatfest just barely got the eternal ranking. Won most of the matches despite the fact that it often was a 2vs4 (Had a fun time with a player named "Joni", we were in a 2vs4 situation 2 times and won <3)

(I'm not really salty but a bit disapointed in the Win for Eat..)

I'm not salty about the loss at all! I had a team of 3 other players who stuck with me from Normal right up to Eternal and we didn't lose a single match. Wherever those guys are, I love them in my heart (NICE NICE NICE)

Yea, I also had some nice joined efforts over the splatfest (shoutout to ju, a fellow "sleeper-in-arms" wielding the Splattershot Jr. and bike helmet as I did!) It's just so great when you have allies that you can trust to pull their weight and have your back in a tight spot.

On a sidenote: does anyone know if there's some place where you can try to connect with people you played with? I know for Smash Bros. there is /r/smashedconnections, but is there something like that for Splatoon? /r/splattedconnections does not seem to be a thing.

Oh wow, eating was WAY more popular than I thought.

Speaking of eating, Spyke will have a good meal during the many following days. I still have like 40+ of these things. Maybe I should spare their lives...

Have a relevant gif, everyone

Maybe the reason why eating was so popular is because all the kids really don't want to go to the bed? :P

The salt is strong in me. Now, I feel ya cat-lovers. Fk popularity.

Yup. For an event where the battle results should always be close to 50/50, popularity has way too much power over the final result.

Realistically, with such a drastic difference in vote I'd still expect eating to win under a better scoring system but not by so much.

[–]-PoliNNID:Politoed 3

When do they reveal the results? It's my first Splatfest.

The results will be available in about an hour or so, most likely!

Yet again, proving the current Splatfest scoring system is a heap of garbage. Oh, your team won the most? Sorry, you lose anyway because people liked the other team more. Imagine sporting events if they used the Splatfest scoring to determine a winner.

I played all day today to try and help my team win despite having reached the Eternal rank last night. Oh bloody well, I guess winning all the time wasn't helpful because we're not 'popular' enough.

Or at least weight it better, maybe x4 to the result percentage to give a final score out of 500.

Eating would still win 255 to 245.

I'm not disagreeing with the Team Eat win, I just think the popularity of a team should have less of an effect on the final result than the match outcomes. 1:4 feels like a good balance to me. The results are never going to vary by more than 10%, probably around 5% typically.

Yup, for a event that should always be close to 50/50 for battle results, the popularity has way too much power over the final result.

Eating would still win with a better system but it wouldn't be the total landslide we see here.

Eating had almost twice as many votes. The system isn't perfect but come on, you really should win more than just 52% of time to overcome that.

Well a popularity system is sort of already built in to sporting events. It is called home field advantage, and records show it does matter.

I was on team Eat, glad I won, and still think the system sucks. As soon as one team is much more popular it's very hard for the other team to win. It could also encourage one team to be disproportionately more popular because some players just want to be on the winning team.

I lose every Splatfest.

Not only that, but the teams I would've picked should I live in Europe also lose.

If anyone wants to ask me my preference on future EU Splatfests so they know what team to avoid, just let me know.

RemindMe! 10 days

Seeing as how Remind Me has... gone MIA, let me just cover the big ones.

Team Marie, Team Luigi, Team Chocolate, Team Orange, Team Coffee, and... I can't make up my mind on the Kid/Squid one, sorry.

We don't have the kid/squid commercials in Europe, afaik. So that one probably won't matter.

Lemon Tea vs. Milk Tea?

Coffee.

That isn't a choice. :P I'm talking about the upcoming Japanese Splatfest which is Kirin Lemon Tea va. Milk Tea. They're cold bottled teas.

Oh I know, but tea is probably the worst drink ever to me so I don't have any real opinions.

Though I guess I'd go with Lemon, because at least it sounds appetizing unlike Milk Tea.

Also, thanks again for that great Inkling font.

Haha, makes sense. And of course!

I would of won if I could of picked team eat...

I haven't played Splatoon for a while so my aim was really off and I wasn't having a great day anyway, so I only got as far as like 22/50.

Still the rounds where I was doing well, my team was balanced against the other were really fun. Hope everyone else enjoyed playing

Man it just hasn't been Marie's week has it.

Still good game Eat, just remember...we played better than you...

There's no way sleepers won. Popularity alone would probably be like 70-30, and I'll be positively surprised if we didn't have our pillows handed to us in win ratio.

I wouldn't be so pesimistic, from my end it seemed pretty even the whole time, plus from what I was seeing, Sleep was killing it out there, or at least those who were posting to social media were killing it, so that might be selection bias.

Still I think it will be incredibly close, even if we fell back on the popularity I think we will make up for whatever disadvantage we got with the win ratio.

Crossing my fingers for this to be true, but my gut feeling still says what I said above ;)

[–]HamtierNNID:Hamtier 1

popularity you'r most likely correct. as for win rate i've only seen postive notes when it comes to sleepers. and theres alot of eaters salt because of lose ratio. i'm sure it will be fine.

I know a lot of the A+ rank players went for Team Sleep as the "underdog team" so they could get into 4 v 1 matches (with them being the 1) for the fun of it!

I just saw the results:

Eating-Sleeping

Votes: 63-37

Wins: 48-52

Total: 159-141

Eating wins, by far.

Oh well!

But logically you'd think with superior numbers they'd score higher than sleep on the win ratio, Sleep really should have not have been able to beat them on that!

Superior numbers don't help AT ALL in Splatfest. This isn't a war where the more men you have the more damage they can do to the enemy.

Splatfest matches, like Turf War, are always 4 vs 4. If all active Sleepers* are busy playing, then the remaining Eaters can't do jack squat to help their team. When you go against a foursome of your own team, it's because there are no available players of the opposite team to battle and the game is just doing something so you don't get bored. But it doesn't count towards the splatfest, it's only so everyone always has something to do (and it does add to your splatfest rank but that's it).

* "active sleeper" is something I never thought I'd say.

Ah I missed the first splatfest so I wasn't aware that it puts you up against members of your own team if there isn't any available! That really helps to know and explains a lot so thank you very much for elaborating!

I've been sitting in the city square with a post ready and my phone camera ready for like half an hour since the Splatfest ended, I'll try have the results up as fast as I can.

I think your best shot is to take a screenshot using the miiverse function, post it on Miiverse, and then go to the desktop site and linking it to this subreddit. Do what /u/CartoonWarStudios said below instead!!

Actually, it's even easier than that. Just go to the internet browser and it lets you upload screenshots of the suspended software

True, but for sake of getting it up as quickly as possible I'll stick to the phone camera.

Speaking of, I wish my HD capture card would hurry up and arrive already so I didn't have to squat infront of my TV with my phone to get footage.

[–]-PoliNNID:Politoed 1

I've got my capture device ready too

Oh well. Congratulations to team eat.

I'm okay with the fact that we lost, considering that it was the second most even splatfest in terms of winrate. What I'm not okay with however, is that we would have had to be the most uneven one to win. Even if winrate counted for 3 instead of 2, we would still have lost

Cats and sleep go together in more ways than one.

Big shout-out to Team Sleep, for a lot of matches it was frequently 4v3 and yesterday when Splatfest first started I must have lost about 10 games in a row to them. Managed to turn it around today but it was still a close call on a few matches.

Also this being my first splatfest - it was so much fun!!! It was really awesome seeing the plaza lit with all the MiiVerse posts and Callie & Marie on stage too. The night time stages were beautiful! Feel a bit down now everything's returned to normal...

I'm so salty right now... Well, I guess I need to pick Callie's team next time, since apparently everyone is rooting for her..

I'm never giving up on Marie.

Once again I loved getting into teams that stayed together for a few matches. It's nice to get that sense of camaraderie as you battle, and I managed to get some inklings to dance with me in the matches that were always gonna be a win because 4-on-1... dancing being just hopping around together in squid form :'D

I didn't like the stage picks as much as the last Splatfest but that's personal preference. I still think stage rotation should be considered though, maybe even the one change-up halfway through. 24 hours is a long time for three maps, and only one song as well. I'd love some other music; I was really surprised that they didn't add the Squid Sisters final boss track to the playlist and I hope they do in future.

There were still a few issues with matchmaking, like playing against my own team or against an incomplete team, but I'm assuming that comes from the uneven voting.

Great fun though, once again! Congrats to all the Rock Eaters out there

This particular set 3 go well together though, they're all odd in different ways (huge diamond, n shape, = shape), I don't think they could of picked a harder combo. :)

Yeah, there was certainly variety in this one; the narrow walkways on Saltspray Rig, then the large wide-open spaces on Kelp Dome. Made for some interesting battles :D I'd like to think the next one will have stages we haven't seen in the Splatfest yet? For us that would be Moray Towers, Arowana Mall and Blackbelly Skatepark I think?

Congrats eaters! Also, really well fought, sleepers

Oh noooooo! Oh well. I kinda guessed that eating would win - plus I love both eating and sleeping, so I don't really mind TOO much that they won but still; it's kinda disappointing too.. Anyways congrats to the winning team and high five to my fellow team sleep members for being awesome and trying! =D

[–]FoowigNNID: Foowig 0

It was fun while it lasted, now to go back to losing everything. Also I now have 43 snails, and that's after using 5 of them.

That was a lot of fun, even though most matches against Team Sleep seemed easier than my usual matches (I was on Team Eat). Matches against Team Eat seemed closer.

I was Team Sleep and quite a few games I was on a team with 3 players against 4 eat players. There was also a good handful of disconnects.

This was my first Splatfest and it was fun to play but it didn't blow me away.

It was a pretty epic day over in Australia. Our local FaceBook group had a lot of shit talking, discussions, random connections (Is X on this page, you are kicking ass) and posting highlights from the day like a few 3vs4 wins.

Shoutout to Splatoon Players Australia

I didn't get to hit top rank, but I had a blast playing with the random 4 people who stayed in the same group. Felt a real bond fighting for Team Sleep, like a PG rated band of brother.

I had a really hard time on this Splatfest. I dunno why but my prefered weapon suddenly felt inefficient as hell. Not like it was very efficient in the first place, but... I did not play right after the two new weapons were released (only 1h before the fest) so if I were paranoid, I would swear that they patch-broke it.

But I think it was network related. I am certain that at times my shots took the direction of an enemy, but somehow they were unscratched or barely hit.

That was to the point I switched to a roller (and I am hating them and I am inexperienced in using them) to be sure my hits... well hit and kill.

(By the way, how does it come that when being hit while rolling I suffer a big pushback while when I hit them I feel like not snaring them at all ? Is my connection that bad or does it seem to be the same to you ?)

My first splatfest, and damn I loved it. I didn't stop playing the entire day so I could get up to eternal.

I do feel awesome about my team winning, but on the other hand I feel pretty bad that it was because of popuarity scoring. It's like those cheeky last-second inkstrikes that make a team win by 1%.

Where do I pick up these super sea snails by the way? Don't wanna miss those.

You're kidding me... We just finished another splatfest?

So I've managed to miss both splatfests on one vacation... great.

[–]non_domKnight_of_Time02 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

I'm glad I live in NA and didn't have to choose between my two favorite things.

Some of the matches I've had were brutal, I didn't know turf war could be so cruel, enemies were just killing us at our base.

Sleeping team did a great job though, although I hardly got matched with you guys. Shout out to Lucas who fought 1 v 4 but still put up a good fight!

I was Team Sleep. First couple of teams I had were complete duds but I finally found my ride or dies <3 "Bastian" and whoever else out there ILY! Then we lost one of them and we got a LVL 4 sniper named "moo" and I was like oh god... he turned out to be legit as hell and perched himself up high and picked off people who were coming for us. moo <3 eternal angel <3 We must have won 90% of our matches.

Yes! Go team eat! Such a great weekend.

[–]-PoliNNID:Politoed 0
