If anyone else remembers a time before USB; parallel and serial ports... You really wouldn't mind the occasional half a second 180 spin and try again..

Edit grammar pedant.

Before parallel and serial ports? Like... what? An Altair? Even XTs had those two.

Before ports, what were you using on your computer? Pin headers? Punchdown blocks? Solder?

There's a comma there dude.

Yes. Commas are used in lists. That just means you're not talking about parallel and serial ports that are USB. Did you mean it as a colon?

I meant to type a quick reply to a post on a phone keyboard. Not to have some pedant with a virtual red marker be so literal when the meaning was abundantly clear to everyone else around the world. It was clear to you too but rather than take the comment in the tongue in cheek spirit it was meant you thought it'd make you look so very cool and knowledgeable to be the one who corrects someone's grammar online.

Way to flip a table there. I didn't write that reply to be a grammar pedant (yeah... because those are so popular, right? I was clearly trying for that...) I wrote it because your post was legitimately ambiguous. I've never had problems telling which way to hold a d-sub connector, so it didn't make sense that you would mean serial and parallel ports were worse than USB either.

So... yeah. If you write something in a way that it means something, some people will take it as written. Imagine that.

I didn't flip anything. Just pointed out your overly literal reading and added a dot which seems to make you feel silly now.

Not particularly... I was just surprised at the level of vitriol in your tone. It seemed pretty obvious you had a bee in your bonnet when writing that.

Holy shit man how much vitriol can there be in 5 words? I'll spell it out even clearer for you. My meaning was. USB is much easier to use than the previous generation of parallel or serial cables. No bent pins, no male to male or female to female mix ups, no straining over the back of a huge crt to see if it lines up or find out Wtf is going on back there. No powering up and down and manually installing drivers. Just slip the thing in, if it doesn't go, spin it 180 and try again. I didn't mention USB to serial cables or any other mixed formats just "before USB". Makes for a much nattier post doesn't it? Now you understand and hopefully there's no spelling or grammar mistakes making your brain melt, can you put this to bed?? If it's the last word you need, just reply with "thanks"
