So, why do people hate this podcast so much again? It seems like an alright podcast. Do you guys just hate everything Reddit-related, even if hating it won't change the management issues?

Also, I don't see why so many people hate Unidan. Sure, he was an attention-whore. He got hungry with power. It happens to the best of us. I'm sure he's an alright guy.

It's weird having a podcast run by the owners of this site. They can be edgy and honest about some parts of the community or some aspect of the company, but it can't ever be a truly organic show because reddit will never be willing to make the site look bad.

I don't think most people hate the podcast. The honeymoon phase is over. The regular listeners aren't promoting it that much anymore, which means the people who don't like it have a bigger voice now. The recent sitewide drama doesn't help either.

Ah, that makes a bit of sense, yeah.

I also think that even fans of the podcast are tired of seeing this advertised as a sponsored link on their sub all the damn time. Like myself.

Just wait until they leave the company, then they are all about making the site look bad by commenting on its own platform.

People hate it mostly because it shows up as advertisement on subs.

Pretty sure he still lurks on another account these days.

That's pretty much the usual, isn't it? For instance, macrumors.com is full of people who apparently hate Apple. Not sure what they are doing there... I guess it makes people feel good, to write angry comments :).

The line between love and hate is a fine one.

Sure, he was an attention-whore. He got hungry with power. It happens to the best of us.

Not on that level. Definitely worth the hate - there are enough attention whores on this site already. cough DEADPOOL cough.

Yeah, but these are imaginary points we're talking about here. Is the hate really warranted?

He broke the rules for a long time. He was banned for making accounts to agree with himself and upvote his stuff.

Imaginary points that these losers are drooling over.

It's just annoying to see the whole "reddit celebrity" worship, especially when these attention whores can just make low-effort garbage comments and be upvoted anyway, because people just want to pat themselves on the back for recognising a "reddit celebrity".

It's not even about the points though, just the fact that he did what he did makes him a scumbag.

Thing is, his comments weren't shite, low-effort comments, they were well written and informative.

I wasn't around when Unidan "The Jackdaw" McUnidan was doing his thing, but I would love to see him post again.

He was a scumbag, you're right. But I think he needs a "second coming", so to speak.

Maybe less vote farming this time, though.

He has come back, in the form of /u/UnidanX.

No shit? That's awesome, I had no idea.

To be honest, he may have fucked with the points system, but he also produced interesting content, so I don't really have a problem with him.

He seemed to be producing so much because he used his multiple accounts to down vote other interesting shit so his would be visible. It was pathetic

If I lied about being sick to be popular, would I still be popular if it was revealed that I was only faking sick to be popular

No. But, Unidan only lied to become popular. He was smart and entertaining to read, but not popular. He lied a bit to become popular because he likes the attention. If you lied to become popular, but didn't actually have the thing that made you popular, that's a whole different story.

I don't bother watching it because it seems like circle jerk, but that's all I really got to say about it.

Dude

Unidan is only Unidan because he manipulated the votes into becoming Unidan. Without rigging the system, he would be nothing but another redditor.

Is it far-fetched to think that when I see the same 3 or 4 Redditors on the front page everyday that they're probably doing the same thing in some manner?

I don't think so, he was the most uprooted person on reddit, he wouldn't have enough alt accounts to cause that.

Basically, without his alts, he'd have produced quality commentary, and had it buried in the sea of shit like the rest of us. With the alts, it got attention

Isn't the first few upvotes worth more then hundreds later?

Alright well, there's no evidence that it happened. They were able to track his more recent stuff, and see that it had infact been manipulated, but they saw nothing of that in his older stuff, so I guess the logic makes sense in your head so you're going to keep spewing it, but jeez... Why do you care so much that you're going to just make shit up and go with it? Because that's what you're doing, you know that, right?

but does it matter though

i mean really, ask yourself if it impacts your life in any way
