Obviously, all throw away usernames must be in ISO 8601.

DDMMYYYY? Are you even trying?

and sorting YYYY-MM-DD alphanumerically also sorts by date!

Not only that, but it's internationally recognised! Does 07-08-2015 mean June 8, or August 7? Depends on where the person who said it is from! 2015-07-08 on the other hand? Unambiguously July 8th.

except SRS long ago standardized on the YYYY-DD-MM format just to fuck with people. That's why in cabal controlled countries nobody knows what day it is.

[–]butistillworkit's only bad if white feels get hurt

I use this even though I'm from a DDMMYYYY country, for this specific reason. It's just so much better.

At least it's not MMDDYYYY. SRS, attracting the logical date order trolls since 2010.

Well it could be. How can we say whether he meant May 7 or July 5?

True, I was assuming these accounts don't last that long.

[–]aplaceatthedqsome people close to me suggested I not jack this circle.

yeah it's definitely a two day old. I've been seeing these burner accounts for a while. There are some that do day first and some month first which makes you wonder are there two users and do they have some kind of agreement over who gets the accounts for the first twelve days of each month?

    a mystery indeed

[–]trimalchio-worktimeI'm just here for meta posts and comics.

honestly that's hilarious because it means there's an american and a european both doing basically the same form of harassment and they're just fucking up each other's systems and getting in each other's way. they probably are pretty annoyed at each other over date formats now.

and that's always been the real goal here at SRS.

    [–]DalekJastSo beta that I'm gamma. 3

MM-DD-YYYY has a logic behind. Very convoluted and kinda stupid, but it's there - it goes from smallest possible number (12 months) to longest (years).

Now if you want system used by Americans tnat doesn't make sense whatsoever, that's the short scale for you.

You described DDMMYYYY. MMDDYYYY is what US uses.

MMDDYYYY isn't so convoluted when you think about how often we leave the year off. It is duckt tape version MM DD, YYYY. Big to small, additonal detail of year as needed. Kind of like if you say you are going to Springfield in Georgia the "Georgia" is assumed. If you mean the capital of Illinois you add ", Illinois".

That said, today's era makes YYYYMMDD superior.

    [–]DalekJastSo beta that I'm gamma. 1

No, I meant MMDDYYYY. 12 months < 28/29/30/31 days < 2015 years. It's not the greatest logic, but it's there.

I'm just glad it manages to have a vaporwave-esque appearance (granted, heavily modified from the basic idea of vaporwave) without the racist bullshit appropriation of Japanese culture

that's literally the only thing that sucks about that genre of music! the fact that its album art is made by people who think that having some katakana on the cover makes it look ~exotic~

eh I wouldn't take vaporwave too seriously. Most of it is tongue-in-cheek to the max

I'm just excited that three people on SRS know what vaporwave is.

I don't understand anything surrounding vaporwave, but I love that album by MACINTOSH PLUS. Could someone explain what the general sentiment regarding it is and why?

[–]trimalchio-worktimeI'm just here for meta posts and comics.

there's a lot of albums like that one that use random japanese characters to make it seem weirder. skeletons are not thrilled because appropriating culture for the purpose of exoticism is basic level shittiness.

I think it's as much a gentle mockery of the idea of 'borrowing' Japanese culture as it is everything else. It's meant to come off as knowingly cheesy and absurd, rather than sincerely exotic.

[–]trimalchio-worktimeI'm just here for meta posts and comics.

I always took that as making fun of weeaboos.... maybe that was just me willfully creating a less shitty narrative.... but a dork can hope right?

I was under the impression that the whole japanese thing was tied to the fact that in the 80s/90s (i.e. the decades vaporware tends to parody/use as inspiration) japan started being seen as this analogue to the US in asia because of the economic bubble and business people were scrambling to learn japanese, and it was gonna be the country of the future, etc. i.e. I think it fits into the vaporware aesthetic not to exotify per se, but as a retrofuturistic parody/nostalgic callback to how americans viewed japan in those decades.

to make all of that a bit less convoluted heres a quote by an actual vaporware artist guilty of the issue at hand:

"情報デスクVIRTUAL, alias of Vektroid, describes her album 札幌コンテンポラリー as ... “a parody of American hypercontextualization of e-Asia circa 1995." via wikipedia

SRS is notorious for being too quick with the ban hammer. I mean, this guy just came on here to have a conversation, and the humorless nazis were having none of it.

    SRS: Bad for feminism.

Edit: in case it's not clear, /s. Obviously if you message the mods calling them various slurs its clear why you were benned. I was doing a thing, not siding with the guy in the post, sheesh.

"This will get them right in their SJW Feeeeminist overly sensitive feels!! 'Oh my feels, this is why cis should die' they'll write on their Tumblr. Then I'll be important, then someone will care about me." He wiped the sweat from his brow, smearing sickly orange dust on his fedora in the process.

But no one would care and he'd die alone, feeling the sting of regret for being closed-minded and the pain of heart attacks caused by years of unnecessary anger and lack of nutrients, "Maybe all I wanted all along ...was a friend."

The police would find him there, hand still resting on his My Little Pony poster weeks later. His Mt. Dew supplier having called, alarmed by his absence, "Kept to himself; did the Dew." was all the supplier had when questioned for comment.

That comment was in response to "About 10% of Greek families cannot afford basic amenities like heating in the winter." In context it's pretty insensitive and tasteless. Also, apparently the Archangelles have great intuition on who deserves to be banned.

EDIT: Originally I said it could seem a bit harsh to ban him for being insensitive and tasteless, but not it's not.
