bro, sorry to say but it seems that IGOT is a scam. Other people got scammed too dating back 2014..

Same story every time.

It's also amusing how in these threads IGOT rep pops up every time. It takes public whinging to get money out of them, it seems.

you gave them your bitcoins. they kept them. happens a lot to people who give their bitcoins to strangers.

try and never give your bitcoins to strangers. you don't need to.. some would say that's the whole point of bitcoin.

As you may have guessed, Im one of those people

You're right of course. However it's really hard to buy bitcoins without trusting at least one person or company. This was my initial purchase of bitcoins, which I was planning to immediately send to my own cold storage wallet. Unfortunately, with the withdrawal not going through I was never able to send them to cold storage.

My sympathies; indeed even for the most security-sensible, an initial bulk purchase is one of the places you have the most risk.

Some ideas:

  • Do as much DD as possible. Look for a company with some history and volume that isn't getting any negative feedback along the lines of 'they robbed me' or 'delays'; other kinds of negative feedback, as long as not too much, doesn't have to be a dealbreaker.
  • Make a test purchase first. Even if it means the fee on the transaction is a bit high %-wise. The test should include moving the funds all the way to your bitcoin wallet.
  • Avoid a company entirely; use localbitcoins or similar and do a P2P transaction, ideally for cash in person. However, this greatly limits the size of transaction that's sensible (< $1000 I'd say, although you might be even more cautious). This won't work for everyone.

Would be interested to hear which part of this fell down in this case (I haven't investigated IGOT at all so won't comment on them).

Man. Why does this community have to be such assholes when people lose their Bitcoins to companies.

I buy bitcoins via my Coinjar account. They are not "mine" until they reach my wallets. I don't control bitcoins at Coinjar. I utilise a Trezor hardware device to assist with security. I do control the private key...and thus my coins. I trade some coins currently on dodgy wobbly Cryptsy and realise I am taking a risk having them there...thus I have a few there. Mark Karpeles did us all a big favour in providing a lesson. Mt Gox security was blessed by Shrem and "Bitcoin Jesus" Ver.

Live, learn and prosper.

Maybe they are waiting for the price to drop before they send them.

So technically your title is mis-leading, if it is still there then they've not stolen it & we've known iGot to be slow, unresponsive, and bad at customer service - however, I doubt they have STOLEN your bitcoins.

I hope you're right CleverEmu, however after 41 days waiting for this withdrawal I am not optimistic.
