Voat better get their shit together, because I foresee another large influx of users in the near future.

I dunno if you've been to voat in the last day or two, but apparently, they've been (and still are at time of this writing) on an ongoing DDOS attack. Which means tat there's a short "checking your browser" period to ascertain that you're not part of the botnet, but voat itself seems pretty stable right about now.

Hope it stays that way should more people become regulars (I've been spending more time on voat since the no-reddit-weekend anyway, so...)

[–]UberAndrewMore traps than Ghazi [

It's stable right now, but it tends to break whenever something big happens on reddit and thousands of users all try to go to Voat at once.

Voat is perfectly capable of handling small bits of traffic, but it could never handle the traffic reddit gets.

Given up on voat. Have migrated to 4chan. It's fun.

[–]UberAndrewMore traps than Ghazi [

I'd recommend 8chan before 4chan. 4chan banned Gamergate discussion and has been having censorship problems itself.

Agreed, though I believe the censorship has dropped off a lot after the initial attempts. It's pretty free and easy

Voat is just one of many legitimate reddit alternatives.

/r/redditalternatives for a list of all of them.

Here Alexis literally refers to the site as a bastion of free speech

"And so it was with every class of recorded fact, great or small. Everything faded away into a shadow-world in which, finally, even the date of the year had become uncertain." - George Orwell, 1984

The doublespeak is just, wow..

Neither Alexis nor I created reddit to be a bastion of free speech, but rather as a place where open and honest discussion can happen

Yes, because as we all know, the first step to open and honest discussion is forcefully silencing minority opinions so that only the opinions which those in power find inoffensive can be spoken. This will lead not only to open and honest discussion but also to social justice, as nothing screams justice more than making certain that the powerless cannot speak against the powerful.

Actually, given every single fucking number I've seen, we're the MAJORITY. Just the SJWs and feminists shriek the loudest because they have the mods and admins holding loudspeakers for them.

Portraying the dissenters(Redditors at large) as a vocal minority of trolls is a tactic they're using to:

*do damage control publicly - it looks bad for a company driven by user content if the users themselves are rioting *shame/scare/etc. people who aren't as angry into not discussing/doing something about it - no one likes getting lumped in with trolls/etc

There is a lot of truth to what you're saying - it doesn't help that Reddit's leadership parrots their shit.

I like how the mod of /r/blackladies in the comments is supporting this action because /r/coontown makes parody subreddits, while having posted in /r/crackertown.

Yellowrose, right? She deleted all those posts when I pointed the hypocrisy out to FPH.

[–]raze2012Noticed by senpai!

Please tell me you archived them somewhere. Always fun to see Back pedaling

He seriously continued where PAO stopped. That tells me that there are people in the background pulling the stings and the CEO is nothing more than a lightning rod to take the blame.

It certainly looks that way. Reddit's chief engineer quit and said she believed that Pao was on placed on a “glass cliff" and was set up for failure. I could be reading too much into that. While I disagree that Pao's failure was due to her gender, it seems a little convenient that she took all the heat for the shit that happened over the last few months and then abruptly resigned after the blackout. Given yishan's recent comments regarding u/ kn0thing's part in Victoria's firing/the blackout, I find it hard to believe that she was the driving force behind the policies Reddit was pushing. Things look particularly bad now that there's a new CEO who's pushing those same policies.

I fucking knew it. Pao leaving meant nothing. Reddit is done.

My bets on the purge: Coontown, TheRedPill, cutefemalecorpses, candidfashionpolice

You forgot /r/KotakuInAction

I originally included it, but I seriously doubt they would go that far, at least at this point. They still need to pick off the easily identified as "horrible" subreddits before they move on to the "disagreeable"

I heard GobblerGuppies kidnap female game devs and hold ISIS-style video sessions with rape and beheadings!

Clearly horrible.

I fucking hate this sub but I will leave reddit if they ban it. That being said, it is not going to happen. I completely understand reddit not wanting to be affiliated with coontown or antipozi. It makes perfect sense from a business perspective. You guys are not even close to their level of crazy.

[–]raze2012Noticed by senpai!

You'd think they'd go for Redpill (almost as big as FPH) so soon? They may be a bit extreme in their thoughts, but their inevitable outrage would definitely be a lot harder to use as smear as FPH's.

I imagined they'd take out "small fry" like mens rights first underneath the guise of Coon town.

RIP KiA

This is how SJWs think!

What a line of amazing reasoning from the SJW in that link. Christ, how do you come to thinking like that. Nothing but assumptions and pre-conceived notions.

So black guys have an easier time in society than white women?
Odds on that poster being a middle-class white American woman.

Odds on that poster being a middle-class white American woman.

That's my thought.

If they get rid of us, the consequences will never be the same.

When did being a "bastion of free speech" become anything other than high praise? We've really seen the death of the enlightenment in the last few years.

Is the CatastophicFailure image in the archive a coincidence or foreshadowing?

[–]subhorizonKOBS Reject | Happy Camper [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

I think KiA is done. They don't have anything on us, but I don't think they care to even be fair and just about it. They want their safe space a specific way. Us calling them and other SJWs out on their BS doesn't fit with that.

It'd be a fucking shame if 'reprehensible' was entirely fucking subjective to every dumb cunts 'feels', wouldn't it?

I find SRS reprehensible. I think more than half of reddit finds them reprehensible.

But I'm willing to bet money that red pill, tumblrinaction, and mra subs bite the bullet long before any serious thought is given to the future of what is basically a raid sub.

I mean, fuck, srs is basically like a raid board at 4chan if the owners deciding that raiding other boards was fine.

Only some people's 'feelz' matter apparently - not everyone's 'feelz' are created equal, it seems. Although why anyone gives a shit about that at all is entirely beyond me.

There needs to be a betting pool on who gets purged. Heh. I'm not up on knowing what the 'evil' subs are now so I can't assign odds. I'm willing to do 1:1.01 on coontown, 1:3 on fatlogic, and 1:2 on tumblrinaction. Dunno about this place, maybe 1:2.5-3?

EDIT: Why don't we set up a betting pool, to benefit charity? IE: Have a fun game, and get a nice donation running in gamergate's name? Let me have a cigarette, and try to figure this out without getting party vanned. I like guns, I don't need a felony.

I join that betting pool.

I'll also bet none of the feminist or men hating subs get banned.

Shit reddit says will have odds of like 1:100 lol.

I'm tempted to start a male hatred sub just to see how far it can go before it gets banned.

Why would you need to start one? Just join some of the pre-existing ones.

To have one without any connections to admins or mods with control of other subs. To see if similar subs remain because the ones who run them have friends in high places, or because their ideology is supported. It would be interesting to see how a fresh, new, Poe-as-fuck male hate sub will be received.

There is already a sub called againstmensrights. One of their mods created gamerghazi.

What are the odds that Gawker and CNN already have the press release and just need to wait for the AMA to post how they're cleaning out all the racist/misogynist/blah blah blah subs?

Gawker? ............................. Let me have a cigarette and some shots.

CNN? Communist news network? See above. It's also dependent on what subs too. Hmmmmm.

Who at gawker has ties to Anti-gg types? Who at CNN has ties to anti-gg or even gawker? See below, I don't follow the hottest stuff.

(I only dabble here, because I like ethics, but only casually game with fps and flight simulators [oxymoron, I know].

I'm in the same boat. It would be a stretch to even call myself a casual gamer.

And considering the way that 17 outlets ran with the survey as a study, I'm more than willing to bet that Conde Nast has been using their media connections to push story narratives at will.

I mean, I play the shit out of kerbal space program, mine craft, but recently gravitated to casual MMOG like heroes and generals and war thunder, because life is hectic, and I can pick it up for an evening and have fun, without investing TOO much.

But, still doing better then 70% of the female gamers playing candy crush (learnt this stat is class last week) grin

But, atleast I understand that I'm a filthy casual, and don't try to interfere on others. I want to buy fallout 4, but I'm scared. So scared.

I hope /r/coontown goes, not because I hate it (I do though) but just for the popcorn.

[–]g-divA nice grandson [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Looks like the remaining SJW staff aren't going down without a fight.

Or...wait for it...this was the plan all along and Pao was a convenient scapegoat for the brunt of the initial outrage/pushback on the change in direction.

[–]chicken_afghani [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Idiots, let the community decide what subs are reprehensible.

That's the principle of Reddit, right?

They are just overriding the morale compass of the masses with their own.

Sooo, reddit becomes tumblr?? That fucking sucks.

Given that the reference to Reddit having a "dark side," it's safe to assume that Reddit is purging all Star Wars related subreddits.

What's wrong with coontown or any other shitposting subbreddit, despite the obvious offensive material? I go there from time to time. Just because it's so fucking offensively stupid. I'm a minority, and it's hilarious. Hilarious because I know it offends SJWs and the rest of the political correctness crowd.

Actually, I'll rephrase it. I like it out of spite against the PC crowd. Even spacedicks I want to stay. It shows that free speech really is protected, and more reasons why it needs to be STILL protected. You know what offends me? People like SJWs censoring speech. That shit infuriates me as it should to you as well, especially as an American.

I honestly think they made this announcement as scary as they could and gave it two days to fester so that when they actually say what they are going to do, it will seem minor compared to our theories. This will mean less outrage because it won't be "as bad as we thought"

[–]raze2012Noticed by senpai!

I think someone mentioned in the last related topic that this shift is purely a business one/there's no longer "money" on free speech.

So, question: from Reddit's perspective,

  1. "when" was the money on free speech?

  2. Why did it shift away?

3.Who/what caused the shift?

This...this is unspeakable. I am literally lost for words.

They've done it. They've fucking finally done it. The SJWs have penetrated Reddit completely and utterly. We tried to warn everyone. We tried to say what was happening. But we were mocked, we were laughed at, we were told to "get over it." Well, here it is. The zero sum. Pure, unadulterated CENSORSHIP.

"Never intended to be a bastion of free speech?" Revisionist history. They are LYING in order to preserve The Narrative.

DOCUMENT EVERYTHING.

ARCHIVE EVERYTHING.

I in no way support the disgusting content on some of these Subreddits, but goddamn I will fucking die for their right to exist. And where does the line end? What do they count as 'offensive'?

This is the last days of Rome. They say all roads lead to Rome, but I say all roads lead away from Rome. Pack up our shit and let's get out of here. There is nothing for us here, only death.

And look at how the plebs are cheering the admins on.

You know, I prefer this to the whole harassment policy thing a month ago. That policy felt disingenuous, considering they banned neoFAGinaction neogafinaction (lol that sub never even existed did it) of all places. At least now reddit's actuality saying they don't want certain kinds of content here.

Anybody else notice how 'open and honest conversation' is code for 'strictly controlled conversation where only progressives are allowed to speak'?

Bad title, too much speculation. He said there will be discussion on the topic in the AMA and while it looks bad we dont know what the results will be.
