I can see it now - 2016 presidential debates - Bernie puts whatever wackjob opponent he's got in his place. Moderator responds with "You just got BERNed!"

"whatever wackjob opponent he's got" I think the name you are looking for is Donald Trump.

I'm conservative, and I hope to God he isn't the one elected as the Republican candidate.

There's no fucking way he will be the Republican nominee. He's just the opening act trying to rile the base, get their rabble juices flowing.

Freshly squeezed rabble juice courtesy of Donald Trump

See everyone keeps saying that Trump is like a secret Democrat, who's acting so over the top crazy and racist so that he'll make the rest of the GOP candidates look good in comparison... but then Trump soared to second place in the polls.

Seriously, I'm seeing a lot of memes on my Facebook feed from my conservative friends which of whom are "buying what he's selling."

It's kind of scary.

I feel for the Rep's. Well... I mean that in the way I feel for someone who tries to kick a dog and falls off of something, smashing his balls on a guardrail. Kind of a "That has to hurt, and I empathize with the pain... but you kind of did it to yourselves" type of thing.

But for anyone remotely sane in the Rep camp... holy shit the current state of things has to suck.

Here's hoping they finish crashing and burning soon, so you can get a sane replacement for that broken party and be properly represented.

He's there to make Bush look like a moderate with his Latina wife.

Trump is batshit crazy, he's way too over the top to be nominated. He's the Nigel Farage of the US.

I'm still registered as a Republican and Rand has likely lost my vote so I might vote for Trump... in the primary. The Republican Party seems so far gone now that I think its time to sink this ship.

He's the camoflauge, he keeps the attention of the real crazies

They did the same thing when Mitt was the chosen one. And what did Mitt do when the spotlight was on him? BROWNFACE!

Trump isn't even conservative. He's barely a Republican. He has switched parties to oppose the President, whether it's Bush, Clinton, or Obama. He does whatever will get him the most attention.

No, no, no, I insist. He is the one you get. He is the one you deserve.

Hey buddy, not every conservative person believes Obama was born in Kenya or believes that the reasons Hospitals cost so much is because of illegal immigrants are clogging up the system.

Cool your jets and realize that maybe, just maybe, your worldview isn't the only legitimate one.

Everyone thinks that their world view is legitimate. Everyone is probably wrong.

Or right to a certain extent?

In a way. 'Right to a certain extent', is still just another way of saying 'wrong'.

Well, that's certainly correct. To a certain extent.

And wrong the rest of the way.

You can think your worldview is legitimate while also acknowledging that there is potential for other legitimate ones, or even further that you may be wrong despite your best attempts. Claiming your worldview is the only legitimate one is the mark of a weak minded extremist.

I think the divide here is a lot of us forget there was actually a conservative view that wasn't the destructive form that we've been seeing from the party for the last several election cycles. Much like how liberals elected obama for the second term more or less not because we believed his campaign promises the second time around, but because we saw him as far less likely to make things irrepairably worse compared to romney.

I actually voted for obama the second time because I thought if he was going to make good on any of those promises, it would be during the last quarter of his second term. Most politicians faff about and do pretty much nothing controversial until they're about to leave office and feel like they can do whatever they want, and I wanted to see what Obama would do. I'm pretty happy with him only very recently for things like his public stances on LGBT rights, and the fact that they aren't just LG rights. I feel like he could have done better with the drug war, and I know he's done a lot of REALLY SHADY SHIT involving privacy, drone strikes, and stuff like that. I voted for McCain the first time. I plan to vote for Bernie this time.

I'm much closer to the green party than any other party, and I find both democrats and republicans to be kinda shitty.

I'm a raving libtard, and I upvote this message.

Then stop voting for those people then.

Thanks for assuming my voting record by my party affiliation.

Not saying you directly. More like your party you belong to but disagree with.

You often need to register for a party to vote in its primary. I don't in any way support the DNC, but you'd better believe I'm registered Democrat this year to vote for Sanders.

[–]the_wolverine88 [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

If Donald Trump is the republican nominee then a sack of potatoes with Bernie sanders' face on it could win

I'm a human being, and I hope to god that he's not.

That would be fucking awesome, are you kidding me??

That's a scary thought, but it's looking more and more like a possibility.

Bernie "Jeremy "You just got Jammed" Jamm" Sanders

I'd love for that to happen. But even if the dull ass moderator had it in him, he knows he'd get fired only moments after the stunt, and thus never would.

The same juvenile worship that got the last guy elected.

That was the most neutral thing I've ever read from breitbart.com. Ever.

DO NOT go into the comments on that site.

[–]Reditor_in_Chief [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

I wouldn't doubt that's usually the best option, but this one wasn't bad:

"The corporate media is grossly underestimating the grassroots support for Bernie. No, he is not like Ralph Nader. No, he is not like Dean, or Paul, or Perot, or any of those from decades ago. People are really a lot more pissed now, especially since Citizens United, and they are ready to rise up."

dude, a bunch of them are positive about Bernie. It's fucking weird.

It's almost as if across the country people of all walks of life are tired of the same shit in different suits.

Lots of conservatives disagree with everything Bernie stands for, but they know the dude has integrity. They hate Hillary a lot more than Bernie.

Republicans have been fundraising like crazy campaigning against "liberalism run amok" and various other flavours. They are fighting in their own primaries by competing for the title of most conservative.

Certainly not an argument that Mr. Sanders will have trouble dealing with. I like that he is willing to publicly wear a word like Socialist, then go on to explain what a democratic socialist actually is, all of it without having to apologize or perform political gymnastics because of his own voting record.

Who knows what will happen, but what a breath of fresh air he would be in the White House...

See, this is why I am fairly certain than he will have no trouble in the general election. HRC could never get that kind of crossover support.

It's breitbart.com, that goes without saying.

At a certain point, many conservative websites become indistinguishable from Stormfront.

Yes, the bottom of the page where the comments are.

Oh shit, I forgot about those! Always good for a chuckle.

He looked like a pissed off Doc Brown with that shotgun.

Did i really just see positive comments about Bernie on Breitbart?

'Spontaneous'.

I remember reading about a well planned "Spontaneous" celebration of Nixon in Fear and Loathing on the Campaign trail.

Can we stop pretending Breitbart is a news outlet?

Eh, salon and huffpo are the lefty versions of breitbart.

If you censor one, you gotta censor em all.

I'm a lefty myself, and I think it's embarrassing that huffpo is what passes for a news outlet in this country.

I think people have forgotten they're actually a blog and not a respected news outlet at all. A bunch of random idiots telling us their opinion isn't the news. The sad thing is, many of the more respected news outlets out there seem to have forgotten they aren't blogs.

I'm curious to know what you would consider a news outlet. They're all businesses trying to generate traffic and ad revenue. It's just a matter of which side of the coin you're on.

True, but some of them at least try and pretend they're impartial

Pretending to be impartial is not better than someone who speaks the truth about where they stand. You seem to celebrate lying and manipulation for no good reason.

Pretending to be impartial is much better. Even if they favour one side, they will at least report the entire story, not pass facts off as opinions, and not exaggerate or manipulate a report to make one person look better/worse

What exactly is your idea of news? Salon? CNN? Reddit?

Most Comic Con attendees would be offended and disgusted. People should not have brought politics to Comic Con.

People should not have brought politics to Comic Con.

This is the most Silver Age statement I have ever read in my life.

I was there. Picked up a Bern sticker. The vibe seemed positive. Certainly not offended and disgusted. Maybe some people were, but most seemed amused or tickled. The lady dressed as Leia was really cute in an "I'm over 50 and i can dress up like Leia if i want" kind of way.

My brother bought a pin from the guy just because it says "He's a motherfucking sorcerer" on it. Oh and the whole Bernie thing too

Yea but don't some religious people show up? I mean it was only a matter of time.

You mean retards outside? Sure.

There are religious nuts at gay prides even, what's your point? They are everywhere.

Yeah! Don't interrupt my blatant consumerism! I want to buy plastic stuff and tell other people about the origin story of my favorite obscure comic book character!

I like Sanders, but god damn that shit'd be obnoxious.

It's like Bernie Sanders was created by Tumblr and sent back in time just so that he could win this election.

Last time I checked, his name wasn't Bernie Zaxxar Sanders.

Also, he's a cigender hetero old white guy.

his

Um, excuse me? Bernie prefers by xe/xis/xim pronouns

Maybe we should still check his birth certificate, make sure he was actually born on Earth like he claims he was.

Reddits obsession with bernie sanders is fucked. Literally anything that man says gets plastered on here as if he can do no wrong.

I thought this subreddit was for surprising headlines?

Well this kinda headline is the type of shit you would find as an onion article.

It's not, it's about titles of real news stories that sound like the title of a satirical news story that The Onion would write.

TIL a spontaneous rally for a political candidate is common at comic con...

Think about the type of people that go to comic con

Think about the type of people who are seriously Rallying for sanders

They're the same fucking people. Redditors

Ugh, did I really just upvote a breitbart link?

Isn't Breitbart suppose to be a Republican news site? I'm confused as to why they'd be cheering for Bernie Sanders...

I'm confused as to why they'd be cheering for Bernie Sanders...

For the same reason democratic sites are enthusiastic about Trump.

Actually, democrats are enthustiacit about there being so many republican candidates, they're going to fight hard and long over the GOP seat, and it'll be all for nothing in the end.

but they're especially excited about trump, because he's an unelectable train wreck, and yet he's seriously dividing the republican base.

Breitbart (at least their Big Hollywood division, the only part of the site I read) is a mix of conservative opinion and also neutral news reporting that has something to do with the intersection of the entertainment industry and politics. And they seem to lean, opinion-wise, more Libertarian than card-carrying Republican.

I suspect they're in full Anti-Hillary mode over there. Bernie doing well damages the presumptive democratic nominee and, at least in their opinion, forces Hillary more leftward thereby increasing the GOP candidates chances in the general.

Couldn't that backfire very badly?

oh don't worry it will

[–]Lokky 2

I'm grabbing my popcorn

It would be a sound strategy if Bernie was running as an independent and had the potential to split the vote.

But he's not.

The article was pretty neutral. Didn't hear any language that suggested they were gushing over or repulsed by the activist at comic con.

Because he's unelectable

Among those least likely to actually vote.

Can we stop posting about Bernie Sanders in every sub?

Fuck salt!

knocks the salt off the table

That would require everyone to not be furiously jerking it in a big ass circle...

I keep waiting to see someone publish an article listing all the reasons why he's a poor candidate, but it never comes.

I love steampunk goggles

I gave him my vote as soon as I saw how he was in contact with a punk scene. That's just groovy.

im going to vote for Bernie in the primaries (as republican)

Yes I know how I have to register

[–]The_________________ -3ポイント-2ポイント  (2子コメント)

Guys, maybe, and I really mean MAYBE, we should stop supporting Bernie Sanders? Not because he is a bad candidate - of course, he's still got our vote. But he's got just about everyone's vote from internet culture, we're just kinda circle jerking at this point. Now he needs to get votes from everyone else, who sees him as "the guy that all the nerdy liberals like". Maybe, if we only support him in secret, other people will start liking him. Actually, maybe we should start pretending to support Clinton?

Everyone already knows that Hillary is going to be president. "THE CHOICE IS MADE!!! THE TRAVELER HAS COME!!!!"

My only hope is that when Bernie wins the democratic nomination he won't pick Hillary for vice.

Bernie Sanders Rocks!!!

btw I was a die hard republican before he came along. But I just love this guy.

Unfortunately I don't think he has a lot of choice.

It's so funny that democrats still think the elections are based on our votes...

The writing for Sanders is already on the wall, if you can't see it you're blind.
