          People saying Raja was giving constructive criticism. That rant was far from constructive. I agree with her to a degree though, but this would have been much better as a toned down private message.

          I agree with you. Raja comes off as a little pious here, when the reality is we don't know the situation or exactly why Pearl hasn't been showing up to gigs. I've seen lots of speculation in here about drinking/drug use, but even if that were the case it wouldn't be the whole picture. And it might not even be the case; there are a myriad of reasons why she might be a no-show to things.

          I don't think Pearl is beyond reproach here, but I sincerely doubt a comment like Raja's is going to achieve anything other than making Raja seem judgmental.

                  I understand what Raja is saying, and I do hope for Pearl's sake that she really is missing gigs because she isn't feeling well. Obviously, I don't want her to be ill, but I want that excuse to be the truth. I was so completely elated that I was going to get the meet her on the Fourth of July in Columbus, but just yesterday the club informed me that she cancelled all upcoming performances for personal issues. I do hope she's ok, but like I said I hope that's the real reason.

                      Pearl is a party queen who became known through social media and is relatively unexperienced with events like this. That being said, Raja is right when she says Pearl is at risk of having a short career. She needs to be careful with the other queens. They have a much bigger and respected reputation than her in the business world of drag, she doesn't want to be tarnishing hers before she even has one.

                      I think it's appalling how many excuses are made for her. If anything, it really shows how die hard her fans are, no matter what she does and how badly and unprofessionally she does it.

                      This just goes to show you how quickly the HiveMind turns. During the actual season, long before the boy/girl challenge I was completely over Pearl.
                      I was over Miss Fame before that, but when they had their lip sync battle I had fingers crossed Fame would execute Pearl, even though deep down I knew she wouldn't.
                      If anyone expressed any dislike for Pearl on-season you were swamped with downvotes. I'm not surprised at all to hear this new information emerging about her having a terrible work ethic.
                      I mean, half her story arc was about how "I don't have to do anything and people just live for me, so I'm not used to all this criticism".

                      I agree. I never hated Pearl, but I thought she was weak in all aspects of the competition except fashion, which IMO, just isn't enough when you're not even the most fashionable person on your season. The show gave her such a good edit. I remember that in the Shakesqueer challenge, she did horribly, but they edited it to make her seem "funny", and everyone ate that shit up.

                      Same here. I like Pearl well enough. I was thrilled when she and Trixie won the conjoined twins challenge, which is one of my favorite challenges ever, so there's that. I loved her as Big Ang. Other than that - you know, I like her okay.

                      Regarding this whole "Raja says she's a slacker/No, she's really got something wrong" argument, here's where I think I fall upon it - I know Pearl's die hard fans would only like to think the best about her. However, who would know a queen better than one of her fellow queens? These RPDR girls all know each other - some before the show, but many more after the show. My guess is that Raja would have a fair idea of why Pearl missed or cancelled all those dates better than her fans would. I'm not saying that's a definitive answer - I'm just saying that logically, who might know better what's going on - a fellow queen, or a love-struck 19 year old sitting behind their computer screen?

                      I do hope Pearl's okay, whether it's illness or something else. I wouldn't wish anything bad for her. But if it's a simple case of her needing to get her shit together and make something of her career, then I hope that happens for her. I'd hate to see her blow it.

                      I thought the masterqueef theater debacle was my one free pass for her. I thought there was something kind of endearing about her character development, since others in that challenge were basically just doing cold-reads while her character was at least half-realized.
                      She was alright in Tan with U, but not even close to the best and she was great in the DESPYs, but other than that she wasn't anywhere even close to the top, ever for me.
                      By the time it got to the final 5 /6 it was clear she was the weakest one left but everyone was just so consumed with hating Kennedy and waiting for Katya's inevitable departure.
                      One of my top 5 favorite comments on Reddit from the On Season was when after Pearl's 2nd lip sync someone said
                      "Well at least now we know that Pearl wasn't mystically channeling Debby Harry" (since both lip syncs were exactly the same and equally awful).

                                  I really adore pearl and love her as a performer and person but its evident that she has a drinking/drug issue. I haven't seen a single video post season 7 where she isn't either high or drunk. There are videos of her falling down during performances and slurring on stage until someone politely takes her off. Its going to be really hard for her to continue to show up for all of the gigs she's being booked for, traveling across the world if she parties like that every time she does a show. Its not surprising that the queens who are absolutey slaying the game right now are sober. Its hard to travel to a new country every week and stay committed and lucid if drinking and drugs are involved.

                                          Pearl is rinsing every moment of her limelight, but that will be a major problem. Pearl doesn't see us as an audience, she sees us as a market and would rather our money than our presence.                                                     I'm by no means a Pearl stans and I completely understand why Raja feels that calling her out is the correct course of action, but it's important to remember that we have no idea what is happening in Pearl's personal life. Yes her absenteeism could be down to laziness or entitlement, but what have we got to lose by giving her the benefit of the doubt? If she's going through some rough shit, the last thing she needs is a gross circle jerk of hate going on.

All that matters is how the bookers/promoters respond. If Pearl gets a reputation as being unreliable, she'll stop getting bookings and that's what will impact her life, not anything said here on Reddit! I believe that is what Raja was trying to give Pearl a "wake up call" on - that you have to be a professional if you want to keep working!                                                       Pearl’s had rough dates like that too. She just finished an Australian tour flew back the 27th and had 3 appearances the next day, she did the Logo parade float but after that is when she got sick. She also filled in when Raja couldn’t make it to a UK tour, she flew back and the next day was the finale party, then went back to Europe for a show and came back for a show on the 7th ,so it was 3 European flights for her in a week. They work hard and traveling can just affect people differently.

                                                        I don't remember who said it, but some queen said "There are drag queens, and then there are girls that dress up as drag queens." Which do you think Pearl is? Drag is about professionalism. Drag queens don't have bosses - they do their job and if they do it well, they get to keep doing it. Unfortunately, RPDR has changed this dynamic. A queen gets on the show and suddenly they're renowned and get bookings across the world. Clearly it's going to piss people off if they're shitting on this opportunity. Like Raja said, there are people who want that limelight too. It's not fair that Pearl gets it when she isn't working for it.

                                                        So you know what, yeah, I think it is perfectly fair for Raja (a professional) to throw some serious shade (a part of the job) at Pearl to try and get her to wake up.

                                                        But it doesn't really matter in the end. Either Pearl will snap out of it and start working, or people will stop booking her. I'm leaning towards the latter because people get tired of glorified crossdressers that can't entertain. (Especially if those crossdressers are pissing off the big dogs of the industry.) It's entirely up to Pearl, and no "being shit on by a Facebook post" is going to change that.

                                                              I want to see the responses to the post.. Come on I am the biggest pearl fan on reddit but I am not blind to pearl's issues. I was terrified she had OD when she did not show up and all the "friends"around her went quiet. . Do not think sultan FB was the place to call her out. She needs stable friends not hate.. Was hoping detox was with pearl.

                                                              Interesting. If Pearl is being unprofessional, of course people should tell her so. It's her job, she made a commitment. But personally I'm not a fan of people airing their dirty laundry in public. She could have sent Pearl a PM, found out her phone number and called her. This is kinda wanky. It's entertaining though.

                                                              This was this kind of thing I was worried about with Pearl from the start. Too many of these NYC pretty girl queens think fame is just going to be selfie after selfie and free shoes/bags/clothes. It's a job! Pearl likes the attention and the self expression from drag (and is talented), but idk if she's a QUEEN, ya feel me? Maybe a countess?
