Recently there was an attack on a beach in Tunisia by ISIS/ISIL (whatever we are calling them this week). It left 38 people killed. It was a shockingly abhorrent act perpetrated with an evil brutality. There is no comparison you can draw between that and what is happening on either side of GamerGate.

To do so, to disrespect the innocent dead and the grieving families at this time is nothing short of despicable.

This is catharsis at work. We simply don't know how to deal with ISIS (and the governments simply can't catch up with them in the Internet world and propaganda), so they vent out frustration. It's not exactly trivialization; it's fear of the unknown.

We're halfway around the world from ISIS and threats come at the Americas every day. Stuff like this is maddening for some people; I'd prefer to block it out and let out some words of encouragement to people doing good. Instead, these people prefer to make a demonization of not one but two groups of people they clearly have no idea of what they can really do. Only one group really needs the demonization, and the other has been used as the equivalent scapegoat.

In other words, all of this needs to stop. Now.
