Any information any study of this nature comes up with is horribly skewed and useless.

Firstly, these studies are committed by biased people who are wanting to confirm their belief.

Secondly, they hire people who share their beliefs to participate in the "test". If your test subject knows what's being tested, your results are automatically invalid.

Thirdly, they set up an impossible scenario. It's a closed-course cone set up. Not realistic at all. The participants have a false sense of security since they're in a test, not an actual dangerous scenario. Therefore they're not paying adequate attention, are overly relaxed, and certainly not prepared for retarded things like a rocket-rocket-powered raccoon being thrown into the midst. It's all bullshit.

You want an actual data set on accidents actually caused by cellphone usuage? Look at traffic reports. You'll find an overwhelming common denominator in these crashes, and it's not the cell phone. It's irresponsible, idiotic drivers.

The same people who have been crashing throughout the decades, be it from yelling at their spouse and kids, futzing with the radio, putting on makeup, or gobbing some fast food, are the same idiots crashing today. The stupidity has remained, the distraction has merely changed. You could put blinders on these people and they'd still find a way to fuck up.

These tailor-made studies prove less than nothing. I could just as easily commit my own test with a handful of professional drivers, and get the exact opposite result. Or merely point to the world's most popular motoring show, Top Gear. Those guys have been driving "distracted" for 20 years and haven't had a problem.
