Yeah that news headline looks super professional and totally legit.

It was supposed to be "Hot chick taken by po-po for giving lucky fucker the time of his life. HIGH FIVE BRAH!" but they had to the proffesional route so banging sounded better.

YEAH BRAH, HIGH FIVE!

Fatima Grupico was a teacher at a Catholic school in New Jersey, a school that has since had its doors shuttered by the local diocese because declining enrollments had rendered running the high school no longer cost effective.

Maybe she was just trying to get enrollment up?

She got something up, anyway.

"took advantage of at least one member of the shrinking student body"

Now that. That right there is something special.

Last week, 30-year-old Florida high school teacher Jennifer Fichter was sentenced to 22 years in prison for engaging in sexual acts with not one, not two, but three male students, all of whom were age 17. One of the illicit relationships even resulted in Fichter becoming pregnant.

22 years in prison seems like a bit much for having sex with 17 year olds, doesn't it?

Jennifer Fichter

Admitted to 37 counts, each with a maximum penalty of 15 years.

I don't know what the minimum penalty is per count.

I thought the exact same when reading the article. IMO, those boys were old enough to know what they were doing, yet are treated as victims.

While the 17-year-old boys may understand what they are doing, sexual relationships between students and teachers is grossly inappropriate. These teachers should have the moral resolve to not abuse the relationships that they have with students. Pursuing a sexual relationship with someone that you have authority over is not okay. A sexual relationship between a student and teacher is an unprofessional exploitation of power.

Not one, not two, not three, not four....

[–]Zaloon 1

It is, but she got caught and the papers got wind of it. Tough luck for her.

I'm not saying it's fake news. I'm saying the headline is unprofessional, and that whatever news/website is came from is sub-buzzfeed.

The website is dudecomedy.com, which suggests BBC level journalism.

The source is "dudecomedy.com". What did you expect?

Banging is the scientific term I believe.

I bet she wont even have to register as a sex offender

This would not surprise me.

Why should she? The guy was 17. He can consent.

Besides age, it's considered statutory rape because they had a student/teacher relationship (ie: an authority figure)

Quick, someone get this kid his "luckiest kid in America" award right away.

So wait, what, what's the crime?

That she's not doing it with me.

[–]Fifaa 9

The kid bragged too much

I know there's a double standard but it's hard to feel sorry for a "victim" when I would trade places with them.

I wouldn't want to trade places with someone who got mugged in the street.

I get where you're coming from, but there are plenty if handsome male rapists too. In this type of situation is was most likely just statutory rape, possibly a bit of grooming, but nonetheless it is definitely possible for attractive, desirable men to be rapists, and people who would love to "trade places" with their victims.

The thing is this was statutory rape, not like violent or date rape, and that he likely consented to it. Well, "consented" in the sense that he probably wanted it but he's a minor.

Reminds me of Twitter back when Chris Brown was in the news after beating Rihanna. "I'd let him beat me anytime he wanted <3" and other nonsense.

Grooming. Such an overused term. When you are dating someone for the first time and turning on the charm you are technically "grooming" them too.

I know there's a double standard but it's hard to feel sorry for a "victim" when I would trade places with them.

I hope you're not a masochist

It's not about the victim. It's about the predator

And fat chicks might want to take the place of a rape victim but that doesn't make it right....

Facebook strikes again. :D

Serious question:

Why do they have to go to jail for so many years? The student wasnt raped or something, He was probably not sad about fucking her. She should pay some money because she did it at work, but i dont think that she should go to prison because of this...

Paedophilia is a crime, which is half the sentence.

Also we put a lot of trust in teachers and they have a lot of responsibility - breaking that trust should deservedly warrant a long sentence. You don't leave your kids with many other institutions like you do with school, and especially not for anywhere near as long. It should be completely inexcusable to break that trust and have relations with a student.

Yes, it is a crime. However, no one in their right mind would consider someone who sleeps with a 17 year old to be a pedophile. Apart from a couple of backwards states, that's legal just about everywhere

Well, the student was 17 so it was by definition not pedophilia, but even if it was, is pedophilia really a crime in the US? I mean, is it a crime to be a pedophile? As long as you don't act on it I can't see any reason why it would be criminal.

Breaking the student/teacher trust is however a different thing, and should warrant a high sentence. Very unprofessional.

It's the whole "position of authority" thing. It could, depending on how the student viewed the teacher, really mess up their sex life. It's one thing to fantasize about having your teacher seduce you; it's another thing altogether to have that happen.

Consider the opposite: many women, according to recent surveys, fantasize about being raped. Far fewer, if any, women actually want that to happen.

A student is too young to consent, and so it is rape. Simple as that.

Also as others have said, it's paedophilia, and she's in a position of authority.

He's not too young to consent though. Apart from a couple of ass-backwards states, the vast majority of the developed world has their age of consent at 16, at worst 17

Apparently this was in New Jersey where yes, the age of consent is 16. However as she is a teacher, in a position of responsibility and authority, it makes it manipulative and coercive. In the UK this is still illegal, and according to Wikipedia, the same is true in NJ:

There is an exception. If the victim is less than 18 and the partner is a parent, guardian, sibling or any other person closer than a fourth cousin or has any type of authority over the victim (for example, a teacher) then the assailant may be charged with a crime. For instance, it's criminal for a manager of any age to have sex with a 17-year-old subordinate, even if the sex was consensual.

Honestly my biggest problem with that is that it's still called rape despite it being consentual. I think if we just changed the terminology, people wouldn't make light of it as much as they do. "Statutory Rape" should be renamed to "Statutory Intercourse" or something, because it's not rape.

No consent = rape. Rape is rape. No ifs, no buts.

Someone underage may willingly have sex with someone older which later, once they've matured and are of age, they could regret. They've been taken advantage of. That is rape.

I think if we just changed the terminology, people wouldn't make light of it as much as they do. "Statutory Rape" should be renamed to "Statutory Intercourse" or something, because it's not rape.

you think trivialising it with a less serious and inaccurate name would make people make light of it less?

But both parties did consent, and both parties were of the age of consent. Consent isn't the issue here, the whole teacher/student thing was. I don't see how that makes it rape. A crime, sure, but if we consider this rape then we're devaluing...well, actual rape.

No, sexual consent is a little more complicated than a 'willingness' to have sex at the time. Having said that, it's still straightforward. If one party has authority over the other, then they are not in a position to consent, and it's rape. The key is that they're been taken advantage of.

Consent isn't the issue here, the whole teacher/student thing was

because of the issue of consent.

A crime, sure, but if we consider this rape then we're devaluing...well, actual rape.

A fair point, but I think mainly serves to give statutory rape the recognition it deserves as a serious crime.

This wasn't even statutory. He's 17 in a state where the age of consent is 16.

Haha I don't know many 40 or 50 year olds who take a lot of selfies, but I'm assuminy you do. So in this case I guess that's who I'm talking about.
