Saydrah: Still Spamming [PIC] (imgur.com)
I have unbanned the following 4 users comments[Gareth321, electric_sandwich, tunasicle & yseneg.] which have been banned by Saydrah. I have mailed Saydrah asking for an explanation on why she has banned those 4 comments. R/Pets is a small community and it requires all the help it can get in terms of moderation and she has [and still is] been a valuable contributor to the community before the entire witch-hunt began. I feel sad that such a valuable contributor would resort to an action like this.
Edit: She has been removed as a moderator. So I would request the mob to move on to upvoting the good stories.

I'm blocking ads on Reddit until Saydrah is banned.
I was reasonably satisfied when she was demodded from one of the other sub-reddits and I disabled adblock for this site...but this is a case of here we go again with Saydrah. She cannot be trusted in a position of authority and I too will be turning adblock back on until she is demoded from all the sub-reddits.
This seems sensible. Reddit can earn money from me or Saydrah can earn money from reddit. Sounds fair to me.
On edit, responding to neoronin's request that we move on: I think Saydrah's removal as a moderator from one particular subreddit is an insufficient response here. How could anyone trust her posts anywhere after the exposure of the duplicitous means by which she spammed, let alone as a moderator? This conflict-of-interest abuse of power is pretty damning as well, obviously, but it's just one case of literally thousands: from my perspective, every single post she's ever made on this website is of questionable authenticity. How could anyone ever know which posts she's making to get people to like her, and which posts she's making out of her personal integrity? She's getting paid to participate in reddit (or at the very least getting paid while participating in reddit with her employment's knowledge). Nothing short of a site-wide ban will resolve this conflict for me.

All of Reddit needs to see she's not just spamming but also abusing her mod powers which is the more important part of this whole thing.
Submitted direct link to gareth321's comment summarizing the whole story till now and noting the "abuse of powers" part in the title.
Also, before a decision is taken, let the community as a whole decide the future course of action on this AskReddit thread, another sub-reddit where she serves as a mod.
Last month she abused powers on r/pics - got demodded from there.
This months she abused it on r/pets - gets demodded from there.
Well, there are atleast a dozen other subreddits where she's a mod. I anticipate we will have a nice dramatic
Edit: Saydrah has just replied in the AskReddit thread here
I just installed Adblock and it won't be removed until she is demodded.
I don't generate a ton of traffic for reddit, but I'll do what I can to influence the mods to get rid of her.
This is sickening and reminds me of how utterly commericalized and bastardized reddit is becoming.
If they're going to treat me like I'm merely a revenue stream, I'll treat them the same.

I'm finding lately the content isn't great anymore either. I used to be on all day every day lurking until most of the links were purple. Now I come on maybe once a day and get bored with just the front page shit. Reddit is losing it's touch with me.

I think REDDIT WANTS HER HERE ... why else wouldn't she be gone by now? seriously.
"Why else wouldn't she be gone by now?" is begging the question. I can think of a lot of reasons. The main one is that a majority of the people that care about the issue want her gone, but are not in a position of power to remove her. Hence the issue.
People not in positions of power to accomplish something they want done usually end up sounding like whiny ass bitches to people who don't care about that particular issue.
done. I love the little "thanks for not using adblock" message, but it's clear that there's an abuse of power going on now. Agree with frenshy - fool me once shame on me, fool me twice, and I won't get fooled again.
edit: undone. She's been removed. Now I can get back to watching soothing messages that even if I buy a reddit shirt, my cat still won't respect me.

I have created a thread on AskReddit to have a discussion as a community about what action (if any) should be taken against her.
There are 4 choices in my opinion:
Admins ban her entirely
Demod her from all her subreddits
r/pets mods emod her from r/pets
Leave her alone
Please express your opinions.

Technical question; if you don't click or buy from the ads in the first place, does it make a difference if you hide them, for their revenue? Or is it more of a symbolic gesture?
There is a type of advertising where the point is just to get you to see the product and have it sit in your subconscious, I forget what it's called, like exposure advertising or something like that.
The theory is that if you see it and one day when you need something that is of the same product type, you will favor the one you have been more exposed to. In many cases they don't want/need you to click anything.

Countless people tried explaining that after she fucked up, she lost ALL her cred.
She should've been demoted since that day, and yeah sure she's a good mod on some subreddits but come on, you can't tell me that out of all the people that use reddit you can't pick one that cares and is responsible enough to replace her?
And to those people saying "omg who cares, whatevs bro", I fucking care. I care because I love reddit, I spend a lot of time learning about useless shit and discussing bacon and I fucking love it. If we let this kind of shit slide once who's to say that we won't let it slide twice or thrice(yeah I said thrice) or worse - attract more spammers.
Removing comments that are critical of her and point out her fuck ups should be proof enough that she is not fit to be a good moderator and her judgement is clearly biased and off.
Demodding Saydrah should really be a no brainer by now...
EDIT: and please note that I DO think she makes good comments and good contributions(sometimes), I don't want her to leave the website and never come back, just remove her authoritah.

Meh. "What the fuck?" doesn't even begin to cover it for the people defending her. I've just spent the last thirty minutes arguing with a guy who says she's not abused her moderator powers for anything, and here this comes out.
Truths like this are sad to me, because they're unnecessary. I don't want this shit to be on the front page any more than any of you who don't care, but it really does bother me that despite clear evidence of the very definition of moderator abuse the only response from admins has been to allow her to remain a moderator.
Because really -- aren't moderators supposed to NOT have a conflict of interest when they make moderation decisions? Isn't this too fucking obvious to not be part of the "hey you're a moderator now" guidelines when you're appointed to be a moderator?
Meh. I'm disappointed.
Absolutely. I've just been a sidelines guy on this. I come to reddit for interesting links, and I wrongly assumed that the community will catch and prevent this kind of obvious abuse.
Well, per the suggestion above, adblock is going into effect since "great justice" doesn't appear to be a factor in decision-making around here.

From the link:
In September 2006, video clips portraying paparazzi footage of Brazilian television personality Daniela Cicarelli having sex with her boyfriend on a beach in Spain were uploaded to YouTube. Court injunctions, which culminated in the temporary blocking of YouTube in Brazil, proved unsuccessful in preventing the spread of the video.
Anyone have this link for, um... research purposes?

Why, after the previous shitstorm, was she allowed to moderate or even post anywhere on the site? Clearly she is an utterly unscrupulous person, and even after being caught once in a very public manner, she's right back to doing it again.
Since this is (at least) the 2nd time she has abused her mod privileges I'd say it's time to ban her from the site.

Criticism
Associated Content has been criticized for the quality of its content. Slate technical writer Farhad Manjoo sums up this criticism thus: "Associated Content stands as a cautionary tale for anyone looking to do news by the numbers. It is a wasteland of bad writing, uninformed commentary, and the sort of comically dull recitation of the news you'd get from a second grader."[11]

I love Reddit, but I'm really getting tired of the Saydrah drama.
I'm concerned that someone like her is a moderator and can manipulate content like she did here when she deleted Gareth321's post so that nothing negative is said about her company.
If she's not removed as a moderator this time, this place will steadily go to shit because the posters won't have any respect for Admin. There will be trolling, chaos, fire, and brimstone.

EDIT: I've had a few requests, so I'm linking to the original information regarding Saydrah and Associated Content. This is all I could drag up, but I'm sure other people have more information.

Uh...can we have a mod or admin explain what happened here? As indifferent as I am about the whole Saydrah thing this is NOT cool if there is any truth to it.
Edit for visibility - Thanks Tromad: Saydrah did ban those comments according to a fellow mod of /r/pets.
Neoronin: I have unbanned the following 4 users comments which have been banned by Saydrah.

I watched some of the video and it reminds me of when I used to sell timeshare getaways (outgoing call center). It's a lot of shady practice masked with unthreatening keywords. For example, we were specifically instructed not to say the word "sell". Instead, we were told to use the word "offer". She's doing the same thing with "spam" and "content".
On the flip side, I can see why she's a valuable member of the Reddit community. It's obvious she has a personal interest in the site and the community alike.

I watched some of her video. I think she has lost some of her humanity. It's a bit sad, although she almost certainly earns more than me. She talks about "authentic relationships" but really she is violating the whole idea of authentic relationships because the relationships she seeks are about obtaining goods for herself.

Anyone who gets advice from a site where the moderators are paid marketers is a fool.
And yet many of us value this website and continue to come here despite the paid marketer who essentially infiltrated reddit. It's not our fault that Saydrah has been made a moderator, nor does it discount the veracity (we hope) of everyone else posting on this website, so it does concern us.
There's a reason this post has gotten so many upvotes. I really think people would appreciate Saydrah at least acknowledging the abuse of trust, apologizing for it, and stepping down as a moderator. I'm actually pretty surprised at the relatively tame response when it came out she was a spammer, as evidenced by the fact that she's still moderator of several subreddits, let alone being allowed to continue posting here. I guess many people are used to being deceived for someone else's benefit, or at the very least think it's not a big deal.
For me it is. Moderators are here to remove spam, not contribute to it. If I were an admin her account would've been banned immediately after giving her the opportunity to apologize.

A couple of weeks ago there was a video posted of Saydrah, explaining her techniques for spamming. I was angry because I'd seen her give advice of a personal nature on many occasions. I also thought it was strange that she held a position of moderator in so many subreddits. So I made a bookmark for her profile. When I got bored, I'd click it. The comment I'm referring to seemed questionable at best, especially after actually seeing the site. So I did a simple search in Google for "associated content dogfoodanalysis". Lo and behold, I was right. That's when I made the reply and posted this.

How does she or her company, Associated Content, make money from her linking to a site that an article on AC used as a source? I could understand if she linked to an AC article, but what does her link have to do with AC?
For the record it's a good website. I think their food rankings are pretty spot on and have consistent criteria. (Grain free, high protein, Omega-3s, no by-products, etc.)

Would you explain how the rankings work? As best I can tell, the only useful ranking is "most popular", which is pretty benign. I don't see a way to differentiate grain free, high protein, or omega-3.
As far as I can tell, the only useful information the website gives is an ingredients list, which is available from everywhere. The "reviews" are nothing more than cut and pasted by a single user, "Editors". There doesn't seem to be any usable ranking system.
Am I missing something?
It's a good compendium of ingredient lists, which is all you really need. The reviews aren't supposed to be about how people like it, but what its quality is like based on its ingredients. It's a good place to be able to look at a complete ingredient list so you can tell if a food is any good or not, and the review will give people who don't know anything about pet nutrition a good idea of why it's ranked where.

Worf says, "Sir, the Federation does have enemies! We must seek them out!" Picard replies, "Oh, yes. That's how it starts! But the road from legitimate suspicion to rampant paranoia is very much shorter than we think. Something is wrong here, Mr. Worf. I don't like what we have become!"
I looked at the links you provided, thoroughly I might add to substantiate wrongdoing on the part of Saydrah in this incident. I couldn't find any. Let's face it, associatedcontent.com is a large website, the 51st most visited website on the Internet: http://www.quantcast.com/associatedcontent.com. It's no Google, but it's up there.
There are thousands of articles written by thousands of users on AssociatedContent. Of course you're going to be able to connect a dot somewhere to all of her new postings about any website she mentions or submits. That doesn't automatically mean she's trying something underhanded, it just means some author from AssociatedContent happened to mention that site, as well.
Heck, if she submitted a link from Google, I guess you could say "ah, she must be profiting from that!" as well, right, because I'm sure that's been written about/referenced on mega giant AssociatedContent.com.
You have no proof she is profiting from these links yet you are running a campaign as if she did.
The only reason people are upvoting this topic right now is they feel indignation toward the past and wished Saydrah was permanently banned. Maybe they're morally justified, maybe they're not. But I can certainly tell you the merits of this post and evidence are totally unsubstantiated and misplaced.
As others in this topic have said much more eloquently than I ever could about this new revelation you have brought forth:
Person one:
Person two:
That's the comment she was responding to. How is it spam if it's relevant to the topic at hand? Associated Content has, what, eighty six hundred bajillion employees? And all of those associates are generating content more or less constantly? Shit, find something that hasn't been written up by an AC writer.
Person three:
"So I read the AC "writeups" for the sites that Saydrah has posted. I was just skimming, but it didn't look like a write-up at all. It's an article about the topic at hand (dog food and animal behavior, respectively) with a link at the very end to the website if you want to do some extra reading. This is your shady connection? How the hell did you even find this?
Remember that scene in Beautiful Mind where the main character begins to see patterns and we as the viewer start thinking "oh he's on to something", but then we find out he had really just lost his mind and was seeing things he wanted to see.
That's how I view this "evidence" that you have brought forth.
If you have more proof, by all means, bring it forward. Otherwise this is just petty drama.
That still doesn't explain her deleting/banning the posts, nor does it justify that act even if all the accusations being levelled against her were a result of paranoia and/or a misguided sense of revenge for whatever she may have done in the past. She dug her own grave by abusing her power and banning the critical comments.
PS: I upvoted you though because you are making a good point and people need to think before jumping on the witch hunting bandwagon.

Out of context, this picture really doesn't mean a whole lot to me. Someone could have legitimately asked something about dog food, and with her access (even work related) to all sorts of internet sites, Saydrah would be a great resource. I link people sites that I'm familiar with all the time, if it's relevant to what they're asking. Just because she has worked with a site before doesn't mean that she is completely banned from talking about it.
