Antonopoulos:

"we've seen four major transformations in the underlying form of money"
1) The transition to precision metals
2) The switch to paper money
3) In 2008, the creation of Bitcoin

Someone needs to 1) teach this guy how to count, and 2) teach him the difference between 'precision' and 'precious'

We've seen a major transformation. The transition to precision metals. The transition to precision metals and the switch to paper money. The two major transformations we've seen were the transition to precision metals, the switch to paper money and the creation of Bitcoin. We've seen four major transformations: The transition to precision metals, the switch to paper money and the creation of Bitcoin. The three ... Amongst the major transformations we saw were the transition to precision metals, the switch to paper money and the creation of Bitcoin.

Transition from what? what about salt and salaries, what about paper money backed by a gold standard and fiat. What about all the things...

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but calling that shit "insignificant" in the face of Bitcoin would be a gross understatement. As we know, Butts are more important than the written word, antibiotics, the wheel, fire, the printing press, or agriculture. Your little items don't even register on the planet-shaking richter scale of the Buttconomy

Yeah, /r/EnoughLibertarianSpam has been listing anarcho-capitalist punk rock music of late. A musical form that's actually worse than Christian rock.

Oh dear god NO!

I listened to that one ancap rap tune for half a minute, never again.

Thankfully no sharp objects were within reach.

"Coming in at #3 on our decentralized countdown, it's 'Am I Being Detained?' by Funky Flag Fringe And The Bitcoin Crew."

I am sure that hip-hop tune was from one of the many African American libertarians/ancaps, right, and not some uber-privileged white kid from Cinicinnati. Finally, some street cred for the libertaryan set

Yeah man, true gangsta shit straight from the 'hood.

That said, you have been warned...

"You want disruption, here you go: radical disruption... Bitcoin is not smooth jazz, bitcoin is punk rock: deal with it. It is disruptive and the reason it is disruptive is why it is so difficult to swallow

He fails to explain why or how it is disruptive! He just says that it is. He also tell us we want disruption, and he also tells us that if we don't accept disruption then some will take away your industry... Nice.

The largest opportunity may be what it means for the six billion people around the globe for whom the traditional mechanisms of banking are not available.

Really, there is 6 billion out of a total of 7 billion that do not have banking (of any sort) available?

Next he will be comparing Bitcoin and the internet !! Oh wait

Bitcoin is the "internet of money and currency is just the first act".

Surly he wont make reference to Fax machines !

By the time they would be able to open a bank account they would be just as likely to buy a fax machine as open a bank account.

Ok internet, check.. Fax Check.

"Bitcoin can deliver baking services not by banking the un-banked, but by de-banking all of us.

I knew there was a use for all that heat generated by mining.

"When faced with massive strategic disruption of that scale there are two places to be: you can be Blockbuster or you can be Netflix."

OOOkkkk..

"The Blockchain itself is boring technology... it's Quicken, only slow and distributed," "Within 10 years a teenager will be able to run an entire bank on their smartphone, using Bitcoin."

LOL bitcoin for the unbanked -- like the unbanked have access to the technology to support Bitcoin as a currency.

This guy would be laughed out of just about any industry other than Bitcoin.

That's a hurdle, sure, I'll admit that. But it's a small one.

Those African children with distended bellies and flies on their faces in the Sally Struthers ad only need to be introduced to the very CONCEPT of bitcoin. The walls of "total lack of internet access," "zero access to tech," and "total and complete disinterest, even among the Greeks who are 50 years more advanced than those poor kids" will dissolve right before our eyes. They are used to carrying well water and scrap to the processing plant, surely they can hold our bags as well.

Maybe AA can become the Butters Sally Struthers and distribute the Book of Satoshi (whitepaper) to those unbanked bastards.

So why would they use bitcoin instead of other means of storing money for the unbanked that are already being rolled out in developing countries?

Because in their heart of hearts people in the third world desire nothing more than to enrich entitled white men in the first world.

Obviously.

A turd is hard to swallow too. No matter how shiny it is.

'bitcoin is punk-rock, you can't control it'

Yeah we know, that's the problem. Even a cursory reading of a simple econ book like Naked Economics would show exactly how far out of line bitcoin is. Basically bitcoin grabbed the best economic advice it could and went "well fuck that noise, lets do the opposite"

You know what's really punk rock? Pastel button-downs tucked into dad jeans.

Is bitcoin really just an elaborate wealth transfer system for Chinese miners?

Punk rock can be controlled. It became controlled just as much as every other genre of music.

Communists used to talk about the capitalists selling them the rope that will be used to hang the capitalists. In reality, the man gets the would be rebels in developed countries to pay the man so the man can strangle them through products to consume that are the opiate of the would be rebels.

Fans claimed to despise corporate punk rock, but that was what was popular and even the ones the fans loved were very much connected to for profit record labels all about commercial success of some sort and thus could easily be destroyed if they pissed off the company.

No. My mum I was at the dawn of punk, when Green Day played Woodstock '94. Record labels tried to hold back punk but then Green Day released American Idiot and the U.S. gubmint couldn't do a thing to stop them. I still have the torrented MP3 somewhere, which I'm sure the FDA has banned by now.

They tried to stop Avril Lavigne too, but punk rawk is unstoppable!

Sk8ter Boi 4 lyfe!

If you are talking about UK punk it was controlled from the very start. The Sex Pistols were a boy band put together by Malcolm Mclaren and Vivien Westwood to sell their clothes and be annoying. HERR DERR WE SAID FUCKON TV AND DON'T LIKE THE QUEEN HERR OUTRAGE! Fast forward and Johnny Rotten is doing TV adverts for fake butter.

That bald headed freak continues to vomit up the same tired nonsense about Butts. It's fun watching him as he slowly crashes and burns.

Punk rock dominates radio, TV, and all advertising. All I ever hear about - other than Sid and Nancy news- is news about Bert and Lornie, Margaret Thatcher, Max Headroom, ET, Alf and Who Shot JR?. Seriously, the banks have drive through ATMs, but only idiot bankers with cars phones would think they'll ever beat the raw technological power that cypher punk rockers can bring.
