There is no 'US Stock Market'. In fact, there are around 12 stock markets that operate in the United States right now. Additionally, no market has closed, just the floor of the NYSE is having issues. Arca's doing great. NYSE listed securities are still trading just fine: overall trading is just a tad lighter than normal and no one is worried.

the NYSE bosses probably anticipated a huge drop (it opened down -170 this morning) and they are taking precaution not to let it completely bomb. If it does, the ripples might turn into shockwaves and we'll be right back to 2008 times 1000.

Yeah, because the drop of 170 points is pretty much the beginning of the end and totally not expected or normal. Not like it happened on Monday, when the market dropped to 17,565 after a few minutes of opening when it closed the trading day before at 17,730, a drop of 165.

Good thing we've got the NYSE bosses on hand to stop 2008*1000, right guys?

I believe their was an imminent terror attack, which in anticipation had the NYSE to stop a huge amount being wiped off.

Because when the bombs are about to blow, the first thing the government is going to do is ring up the markets and make sure they're ready. Don't worry about public safety warnings, or deploying additional police officers: make sure the markets shut down so the Jews can save all of their filthy gold.

It was headed downward. If they nip it in the bud, they stop the trading from dropping. 1% drop is a big deal. It is a huge dump.
