Oh soooooo mean of them to not serve a minor... sometimes Reddit just makes me realize that there are a lot of people out there who just don't have their heads screwed on correctly.

As a server, I'd rather get stiffed than lose my job. Good job sticking it to the man, buddy.

manager walks by while you're taking an order from an old man

Me: Hahaha so yeah I'm going to need some ID, someone just turned 21-

Old Man: RABBLERAABLERABLEOBAMA

Me: ...haha...no but seriously where is it...

i had just started working at a restaurant that had a policy of giving out free birthday desserts. I was told that the managers were really strict when it came to rules, so when an old man told me it was his birthday and ask for a dessert menu, i promptly asked to see his ID. ive never seen an old man more offended in my life. i instantly realized how stupid it was to ask a man approaching 70 for an ID. i felt bad, his wife thought it was funny, at least.

Free burfday cake is a very serious business, and lying about said birthday cake can land you in Applebees™ Birthday Jail

[–]because_im_boring 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

i hear they shackle you in red suspenders in birthday jail

I heard in birthday jail there's a bunch of graffitti that says Ruby Tuesdays™ is better

And you aren't even allowed virgin pina coladas either

Well I obviously wouldn't see a need to card an old man. Plus, it's not about my manager catching me. If a minor is found intoxicated and it's tracked back to me, I'm the one responsible and will be fired.

I've worked at places where you have to card everyone, no matter the age...

Ah ok then. My restaurant's policy is just "if they look 30 or younger."

In Alaska its the law to check everyones ID. If you get in alcohol related trouble you get get a red stripe on your license which restricts your from buying alcohol. Up here just because you're 21, doesn't mean you can buy alcohol.

Among the bazillion other reasons, add this to why I never want to live in Alaska. Isn't my right to booze in the Constitution somewhere? Someone was fucking slipping if not.

But Denali ;_; and orcas and arctic foxes and awesome mountains and indigenous eskimos

I used to work at this pizza place called Old Chicago. Lame national chain that actually started in Colorado in the 70s. Anyway. I was managing during lunch one day and a couple older teenage boys came in. They ordered a bunch of food and were being pretty rowdy.. Like teenage boys can be when unsupervised. Not that I was that old... Maybe 24. Anyway again. Their server came up to me and handed me a very obvious fake ID that one of the boys tried to use. I went to the table and told the guys to finish eating, pay and to leave. And that if any of them tried to use a fake ID in the restaurant again I would call the cops. They of course got all pissed off. Claiming that they were all over 21 and that they had just forgotten their IDs and that it wasn't a fake it had just gone through the wash. Same bullshit we all said. I had a fake in high school. I wasn't trying to get the kids in trouble. They settle down. I went about my business. Their server came up to me crying (she was always crying about something. Just one of those girls) about 20 minutes later. They walked without paying. The bill was probably about $45. I tell her to shrug it off and that its not her fault and we'd take care of it and buy her lunch and a couple beers after her shift.

That's when a rock sailed through the front window of the restaurant. I called the cops. They got the kids not to far from the restaurant.

I guess it depends on how you define lame. We stop at an Old Chicago pretty regularly on our way up to Chicago from Indy every few months and sit in the bar... always a good environment, great beer selection, and the personal deep dish pizzas are fantastic. Nothing to complain about here.

I only call it lame because I worked for the company for almost ten years. I'm might be a little bitter.

Ha. Totally understandable. And I'm sure not all locations are cool.

Wow that is quite a story, my blood was boiling just reading it. You are a good manager/person.

Thank you Sir, for being Awesome.

You're welcome. Beard_Sniffer.

Wow, those kids are douchebags. All that just for not getting a cheap beer.

Does that say $41.41 or $91.91

Hey George! Take a look at this, he left us $91.91 on a $41.41 bill. How kind of him.

No one denied you a beer you fucktard.

You're not old enough to buy one. I hate people who make excuses for being a cheap piece of shit.

Yes because a restaurant should risk getting their liquor license pulled to cater to your whims, you little shit.

Ooooh, it's a beer. Had to google it, honestly thought he was trying to buy a Jedi in training.

It's a PA beer; hard to find in certain areas of the country. It's a pretty decent lager; I joke that it's the cheapest beer I'll drink.

A lot of people I know get excited about it. I actually don't think it's very good at all, and often wonder if peoples' excitement is due to the combination of restrictive regional distribution and name recognition (it being the oldest brewery in the U.S.) along with a general unfamiliarity with available lagers. Good lagers have a lot more flavor than Yuengling, imo.

For a lot of people, it's the best beer for its cost. I'd pick it over all the bland or gross cheap macrobrews. I've had a lot better beers than Yuengling, but virtually none of them has been as inexpensive.

It's not that it's great, it's that it's very decent for a beer that's cheaper than any non-PBR/natty/beast beer.

I live just in MD and it used to be pretty good, then it went national and I noticed that I kept getting half-skunked beers whenever friends had it. I was randomly talking to an acquaintance involved in distribution and he said that they were shipping it down to FL then back up to MD w/ the new distribution system and that's why it was terrible now. (I have no idea if this is actually true)

Same here. I'm in MD about 9 miles south of Hanover, PA and we get skunk beer from them sometimes. Seems pretty ass backwards.

The story I heard was the PA line was the divider. I actually had some skunked at a friends house in southern PA, and it turns out he actually buys his beer in MD... I told him to quit it.

The Black and Tan is pretty good for a mass produced domestic.

A black and tan is 2 different beers, Bass pale ale and Guinness, which isnt domestic.

It's also one of the beers that company produces you snarky fuck.

Yes but Yuengling produces a Black and Tan version of their beer. Most people see their lager but they have a few seasonal and other styles they sell as well.

Central is better than Rendezvous. That was their first mistake.

Aw man, I love Rendezvous.

Central>Rendezvous

Really? If I hadn't moved so far away, I'd go right now to test this theory.

Unless you really love dry rub barbecue. If so, rendezvous is probably a safer bet.

I'm a fan of all types of BBQ. My favorite is dry pulled pork sandwiches with vinegar based BBQ sauce. It's more a vinegar pepper sauce than BBQ sauce. So good. Kream Kastle in Blytheville, AR makes the best.

Even if you consider the drinking age to be immoral you still put the server/restaurant at risk when you trick them into an underaged beer.
