Et voila. Didn't really take that long.

I own both a console and a high-end gaming PC, but tend to relegate myself to the console community on this website. Why is that? Because, as I've said before, the PC gaming community here on reddit is largely comprised of man-babies that like to partake in things like /r/pcmasterrace. I'd like to say I've outgrown that type behavior, but frankly, I've never in my life stooped that low.

And if entire PC communities on here aren't comprised of aforementioned man-babies, then the comments are generally too littered with ignorant horseshit spread by equally ignorant people who wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the ass.

What I'd also love to do is ask for you to point out why exactly I'm a "console peasant", but I'm really not in the business of starting discussions with stupid people, which is an assumption I'm gleaning from you calling me a "console peasant" to start with.

Comparing on-sheet specs is the first sign that you're an ignorant buffoon who doesn't actually know what he's talking about.

Developing gaming software for a PC is fundamentally generalized, while for a console, it's largely optimized. This counts even moreso for first party games. On top of that, the actual hardware structure of either of these consoles isn't something that you can replicate with a bargain bin desktop, or any PC really. There are massive benefits you gain from the actual hardware setup of a PS4 given the fact that it's built around the concept of general purpose computing using the GPU. Meaning, a 7870 (the normal version also doesn't have the same amount of ACE's) isn't the same in a desktop as it is in the PS4, where it resides on the same chip as the CPU, and has access to unified memory.

Besides all of this, you're inherently being dishonest given that for building a PC, you don't actually have to take into account stringent wattage limits, on top of the fact that these consoles are meanwhile already one and a half years old, and are right around the tail-end of their first price-segment - meaning that they'll probably be dropping in price within the year.

Thanks for proving my point.

Consoles fill the niche of "low barrier to entry, cheap, well supported piece of hardware" that the mass market needs. Take that away, and you take away the spear-tip when it comes to gaming's penetration into the mass market. And with that goes large budgets. With large budgets goes innovation and the ability for a large company to take risks, if everything runs well (Sony has Uncharted as their blockbuster, and insane shit like Dreams as their special products. Games like Dreams wouldn't exist if the company didn't have blockbusters like uncharted to rely upon for profits; profits they largely get from aforementioned mass market)

Also, even ignoring consoles, the entire idea that they're holding back PC is completely unfounded in any reality. PC gaming is as much held back by consoles as they are by low-spec PC's. Nearly ANY PC exclusive really doesn't look that great. You might have one or two Star Citizens or Arma 3, but the vast VAST majority, in terms of graphics, are more akin to your average Valve/Riot Games/Blizzard game. You might have a point if every PC exclusive video game looked like Uncharted 4, but barely any do to begin with.

On top of that, having a fixed target for developers for multiple years is in fact good for the consumer. It means that your hardware is able to last much longer, and it means that developers don't have to constantly chase a moving target. Look at the budget of any big blockbuster game right now, and imagine if they had to chase an 18 month doubling of hardware power. You're insane if you believe you want that.

Agreed. And for all the people saying "It's just a joke!!" - Your whole subreddit is based around Nazi ideology, and don't even try to deny it. I'm not saying that you guys are Nazis, but really, take a long, hard look at your subreddit, what it stands for, what phrases it uses and ask yourself "do I want to be associated with this?"

I've seen people on this site ridiculed and downvoted by the nice gentlemen of /r/pcmasterrace because they use a console, but it's just a joke, right guise?!

Maybe I misremember this, but didn't even the escapist dude who invented the term originally in his video distance himself from /r/pcmasterrace? Because he used it in an entirely different context and doesn't like it that people use it seriously.

Oh, and if you really think that Gabe Newell would want to be associated with your shit subreddit, then you are delusional. No business would want anything to do with a place that uses the phrase "Master Race". And don't come with Nietzsche. Yes, he coined the term first. But you don't use the term Master Race in Nietzches version. You clearly use it to express that you are better than someone else - so, the Nazi version.
