No, when subs asked me to stop I stopped. The problem was some assholes going to the Pao Pao without even asking.

/u/Esparno when they ban this account you can find me on twitter, rizon IRC and VOAT whenever it comes back.

I'm waging thermonuclear war in a safespace

I messed up a link in the comment you were talking about that would have made things a bit clearer.

My campaign was to burn vinyl records in effigy, starting with some LordeVinyl.

https://twitter.com/go1dfish/status/618547732643328000

Violence, even well intentioned always rebounds upon itself.

I have never advocated violence. The worst I have done is (I tried to make quite clear this was unserious) to tell people to kill themselves; and only after this sort of behavior was specifically approved by an admin.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Upvoted/comments/3b8ij4/ten_years_of_reddit_video/cssk2kh

This was the video I meant to link to:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUcBIF6MlPA

I've since talked to /u/LordVinyl and I am a bit more open minded to his participation now; although I still think the community will flip its shit when the realize he has been added while /u/chooter has been taken away; and I don't blame them.

I've never had anything personal against him, and I'm sorry that him (and all the admins) got caught in this crossfire.)

The admins consistently refuse to define clear/consistent and fair limits so I wanted to find out the boundaries.

Why is it more acceptable to call for /r/GasTheKikes than /r/GasTheSnoo?

Because I'm a voluntarist libertarian and I have always loved reddit precisely because it was such an unregulated free expression forum.

I read philosophy all the time. The tao has always been one of my favorites.

I founded /r/AntiTax and you will find it in the sidebar there, along with that pretense of knowledge quote.

See:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheoryOfReddit/comments/3chaut/why_is_uekjp_always_referred_to_by_her_full_name/csvnsxx

It's very close to the original hands-off/prime-directive respecting administration reddit was used to for years.

Hayek is also relevant:

The recognition of the insuperable limits to his knowledge ought indeed to teach the student of society a lesson of humility which should guard him against becoming an accomplice in men's fatal striving to control society — a striving which makes him not only a tyrant over his fellows, but which may well make him the destroyer of a civilization which no brain has designed but which has grown from the free efforts of millions of individuals.

Bringing back /r/reddit.com ?

That would solve the fact that a bunch of petty tyrants control your entire website. IMO you guys got a taste of what the users deal with every day.

Paower mods ruining everything.

If you bring back /r/reddit.com you are safe from that sort of protest by a handful of overly powerful users shutting down your front page.

It also serves as a relief valve and check on those Powermod's power because they can't systematically suppress topics from the front page of the internet.

This pleases the free-speech people, it should please the admins. If the /r/defaultmods really think about it for a while it should please them to as it would stop a lot of the angst and bitching that happens from communities like /r/undelete.

It's the single biggest change you could make, and the users have been trying to tell you this for years.

What's wrong with the Tao?

"Act for the people’s benefit. Trust them; leave them alone.”

“Stop trying to control. Let go of fixed plans and concepts, and the world will govern itself.

The more prohibitions you have, the less virtuous people will be. The more weapons you have, the less secure people will be. The more subsidies you have, the less self-reliant people will be.

Therefore the Master says: I let go of the law, and people become honest. I let go of economics, and people become prosperous. I let go of religion, and people become serene. I let go of all desire for the common good, and the good becomes common as grass.”

“When the Master governs, the people are hardly aware that he exists. Next best is a leader who is loved. Next, one who is feared. The worst is one who is despised.

If you don’t trust the people, you make them untrustworthy.

The Master doesn’t talk, he acts. When his work is done, the people say, ‘Amazing: we did it, all by ourselves!'”

“Can you love people and lead them without imposing your will? Can you deal with the most vital matters by letting events take their course? Can you step back from you own mind and thus understand all things?”

“When a country obtains great power, it becomes like the sea: all streams run downward into it. The more powerful it grows, the greater the need for humility. Humility means trusting the Tao, thus never needing to be defensive.

A great nation is like a great man: When he makes a mistake, he realizes it. Having realized it, he admits it. Having admitted it, he corrects it. He considers those who point out his faults as his most benevolent teachers. He thinks of his enemy as the shadow that he himself casts.

If a nation is centered in the Tao, if it nourishes its own people and doesn’t meddle in the affairs of others, it will be a light to all nations in the world.”

“If you want to learn how to govern, avoid being clever or rich.”

“All streams flow to the sea because it is lower than they are. Humility gives it its power.

If you want to govern the people, you must place yourself below them. If you want to lead the people, you must learn how to follow them.”

“Governing a large country is like frying a small fish. You spoil it with too much poking.

Center your country in the Tao and evil will have no power. Not that it isn’t there, but you’ll be able to step out of its way.

Give evil nothing to oppose and it will disappear by itself.”

This is the biggest problem, she came in and tried to control things without even understanding the community in any capacity whatsoever.

/u/ekjp have you read the Tao Te Ching? Do you think it applies to the governance of reddit? Because I certainly do.

^ this.

I've learned a lot about Chairman Mao over the past few months in an effort to make better jokes.

So thank you for the history lesson.

Sorry to get so crude, but your concept of safe spaces is Orwellian, oppressive and ill conceived.

Why was the decentralization project canned? Did you do that? Why?

What I want to know was who's call was it to end the decentralization project? That was so frwaking ideal when I heard about it yesterday.

kn0thing has made me sadder during this apaocalypse the. Finding out just how close reddit was to doing the EXACT right approach to free expression. Where government was not only permanently unnecessary but permanently forbidden.

But instead we got Pao's SS

So disappoint.

Was that your call /u/yishan? Or did the board/money force your hand there?
