Different social conditions will be affected by the changing landscape of social values within a given culture. Amphibians reaction to environmental toxins is a pretty good analogy for what I mean here... because they breath through their skins, amphibians are typically affected first by toxins they encounter. In a similar fashion, some cultures are affected more significantly than others by changing social structures and perceptions.

Japanese culture is affected first and most powerfully by gynocentric social pressure because of the preexisting conditions of their society... and this is an example of such.

Notice how the article dances around the actual root cause here, and focuses on mostly female values to explain what's going on. The author can't escape the truth entirely though...
