It's not like the idea of Jesse Jackson using race as a weapon is something unheard of. The guy specifically stands up against what he sees as injustice regarding only people that share his race.
That's gonna be commented on, ya know?

Ok?
I fail to see how "you're an immoral race baiter" comes into play here.

...Who said that? I just clicked the link. I mean I guess we can ask each other how all kinds of things come into play:
How does "psycho cannibal" come into play here? Oh it hasn't? Just asking questions!

If you aren't familiar with the Jesse Jackson AMA then maybe you shouldn't comment on it.

If you aren't willing to talk about this thread, maybe you shouldn't post in it? I'm literally dealing with what was presented in the OP.
I don't care enough either way otherwise, you crazy cannibal.

I love how clever you are.

I love how you get upset that people read and respond to the thread.
"Don't respond to this thread unless you know the backstory, which isn't presented here!"
Look, I don't give a fuck about this reddit war between people who freak out about others being too politically correct and the people who freak out about people who freak out about others being too politically correct. They're both goofy to me.
Apparently you're entrenched, and you followed Jesse Jackson's AMA very closely. I didn't. I don't care about him and I don't care about people that are up in arms against him.
I just responded to the picture in the OP. Sorry for infringing on your crusade.

So brave.

That's not brave, that's just common sense.

By responding to the picture, you've chosen to jump into the middle of an ongoing debate. You continue to remain ignorant about previous events in said debate.
Stop pretending that that's a reasonable argument.
If you wanna argue the picture, learn about its context. No one looks at the famous video of MLK's "I have a dream"-speech and says he's using his race as a weapon.

That is quite possibly the dumbest thing written in this extremely dumb thread, including its screeds regarding the Protestant Reformation.
"So what if the example given isn't a great example! There's other examples out there that are better and you should know about them!"

It might be, had your posts not been here. That being said, it's like pointing out the dumbest person who's received a nobel prize compared to you.

What's his race?
[–]itsfineitsgreat -4ポイント-3ポイント-2ポイント 13時間 前 (17子コメント)
he was black
[–]WorseThanHipster[S] 26ポイント27ポイント28ポイント 13時間 前 (16子コメント)
Right, so black isn't a race. I won't attempt to skirt the facts; racism is such a superficial, fearful reactionary issue that skincolor somehow determines what 'side your on.'
That aside, MLK jr was no saint. For that matter, the actual Martin Luther was no saint. They were flawed humans who all stood to benefit off of controversy. Those who support the status quo would love for all of their enemies to stand in a field and martyr themselves. The issue there is hopefully obvious.
Is Jessie Jackson greedy? Sure, are you not? I don't agree with everything he does. I probably wouldn't enjoy his company, and he probably wouldn't have mine. After all, he has certainly done and risked more to further racial equality in the US than either of us, or the average redditor. But none of this has anything to do with whether or not Jessie Jackson's AMA was dogpiled by persons with an obvious agenda, both in questions and in votes.

I would suggest you read up on Martin Luther. He was an accomplished, popular man who risked everything, including tortuous death, to air his grievances with the catholic church and to do so as publicly as he could.
Unfortunately, when that got him into trouble, he hid behind his cronies and did much to distance himself from the fanatical movement his actions and ideas spurred.
But, in doing so he catalyzed Europe into breaking free from the economic disparity and religious fascism that had been strangling its economy since the fall of the roman empire, aka the 'dark ages.'
He was a zealot, a seditionist, greedy, reactionary, and at times a coward, yet he shaped our world for the better, IMHO. Like history and politics, nothing is quite black or white. Food for thought.

Everyone forgets Martin Luther's lesser known work "On Jews and Their Lies."

Is that a copypasta? I'm sure in your mind it has something to do with the topic.
It's like you're upset that Jesse Jackson wasn't treated with kid gloves or something. His actions are pretty famously controversial. Do you think only racists think that or something?
[–]WorseThanHipster[S] 15ポイント16ポイント17ポイント 12時間 前* (10子コメント)
Not every articulated thought that inflames you is copy pasta. That thar is 100% OC, for what it's worth.
Majority opinion has nothing to do with morality or correctness. 'Famously controversial' literally describes every civil rights leader (and asshole) and every politician who ever went against the status quo. He's been accused of a lot, as one would suspect of a 'jimmie rustler.' He is likely selfish and self serving, he is human after all.
Bottom line, that response was insane. The AMA got more downvotes than upvotes, and the comments were atrocious, and many of them racist. Many of the ciritcal comments were done by day old accounts that are now deleted or abandoned (by the user), or by unabashed racists (there are tools available that quickly summarize a posters history). It was an unabashed racist shitshow, regardless of Jackson's positions, and he is no Al Sharpton either.
Curious, can you name one contemporary accomplished American civil rights leader?

What in the fuck are you ranting about. I'm responding to your picture. If you don't like it, you should've picked a different one.

K.
Edit: You must be completely unaware of what it was like for a black civil rights leader in 1960's America. Perhaps you are just too young and tainted by today's celebrity culture to imagine someone becoming famous without being rich or born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Anyone *actually** interested can read more on wikipedia, especially his early career involving the 'Selma Marches' of which the recent movie was named. He's no saint, but he's hardly the worst persons to AMA on a forum like reddit.

You don't get to do that unless you're one of the cool kids.
