I'm just skimming so maybe I missed it, but did they give a reason for firing Victoria
[–]newaccount 21ポイント22ポイント23ポイント 5時間 前 (12子コメント)
Why the fuck would they?
This is what is really disappointing about this whole blackout thing. It is extremely unethical and extremely unprofessional to publicly state why an employee was fired.

Inability to easily answer specific questions is a clear indicator of bullshit. Thanks for proving my point bro :)

Inability to recognise when a question has been answered is a clear indication of delusion. Good luck with that, champ.

You're right. I'm sorry. Let me slow down to your speed so you can catch up. This is why you sound stupid:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum
In argumentation theory, an argumentum ad populum (Latin for "appeal to the people") is afallacious argument that concludes that aproposition is true because many or most people believe it: "If many believe so, it is so."
This type of argument is known by several names,[1] including appeal to the masses, appeal to belief, appeal to the majority, appeal to democracy, appeal to popularity, argument by consensus, consensus fallacy, authority of the many, and bandwagon fallacy (also known as avox populi),[2] and in Latin as argumentum ad numerum ("appeal to the number"), andconsensus gentium ("agreement of the clans"). It is also the basis of a number of social phenomena, including communal reinforcementand the bandwagon effect. The Chinese proverb"three men make a tiger" concerns the same idea.

The thing is, most people don't believe it. They know it to be true. Ever seen reddit announce why an employee was fired that didn't involve the employee making public statement first? Amazing, huh?
Again: delusion, good luck with it.

It's a major privacy violation and in the U.S. can very easily lead to a lawsuit. There, you happy?

Sorry but can you cite any specific law?
[–]tspun 4ポイント5ポイント6ポイント 3時間 前 (0子コメント)
You're getting downvoted, but I've practiced some employment law and I'll give an attempt at some context. First, there's no one law you could really cite, because most of employment law is state law (or common law with no real codification!) But, to distill down the idea, most employers in the US will only provide title and dates of employment after a termination when asked. They do this to avoid (among other things) potential libel suits. They're also worried that anything they publicly say could be used against them in court in a different employment suit (for instance, retaliatory firing or discrimination; the exact claims can vary by state law).
I would imagine reddit's legal team advised them to avoid saying even what little they did (imagine how the phrase "we have decided to eliminate the position" could be used in front of a jury). They probably decided giving this little bit of information was good enough for PR that it's worth the potential liability risks.
Hope that helps!
