Most of it has changed, but not all of it. The shell is mostly entirely replaced (people hate the title bars), the context menus have been for the most part been replaced, and explorer is still the same as Windows 8.1's explorer. Task bar notification icons tray has had a minor adjustment as well.

Context menus replaced? There are not changed since windows XP. Just right click on the taskbar or desktop. The same out of place fade in animation, the same ugly pseudo drop shadow.

In fact it is quite funny how much inconsistent old crust there is even in the most basic, in your face UI elements.

For example open just the file explorer:

Right click on a file and you have a Windows XP style menu with animated fade in but instant fade out.

Right click on the address bar and you got a different, Windows 98 (!) style context menu.

Right click on the Quick access toolbar in the upper left and voila, yet another context menu, this time it's Office 2010 style and the animations are reversed, instant pop up, fade out.

That's 3 different, old ass windows themes in just one, basic and most used Windows app. 3 different inconsistent color, font and animation themes.

They're changed. And http://media.askvg.com/articles/images5/Show_Hide_Hidden_Files_Option_Context_Menu.png

They changed the filled triangle into angle bracket. Apart from this it's still Vista. Awesome.

Not to mention two different context menus on the taskbar and start menu. One modern with ugly roll down animation and no drop shadow and the other 10 years old with hideous fake drop shadow and fade in transition that hasn't changed since Windows 98 or probably XP.

Shadows are changed and yes Windows 10 is going to be a complete failure because of context menus that are supposed to be an artistic art miracles that throw rainbows all over desktop and has dank animations /s

Context menu shadow is the same as in XP. I do realize average comic sans user doesn't care.

Wow your ignorance is off the charts, you can't even check the image that I linked before to see that IT'S DIFFERENT.

Probably you don't even understand the term "drop shadow".

The drop shadows are cropped in your image.

There, I proved you wrong. For someone who doesn't care about or understand design you're very militant about it. Windows 10 design is butt ugly and inconsistent. Deal with it.

I work with design all the time, you're the biggest asshole on this subreddit.

You probably don't understand when to stop, oh you probably don't even know what word stop means.

I never even noticed this, just tried it though and yep. Now I can't un-see it. Thanks guy.....

For the most part, but not completely. Legacy UI elements can still be found throughout the system, such as the Device Manager or the Management Console. They don't even support high DPI and thus appear blurry on high resolution displays. I guess Windows will never be as refined as OS X.

In w10 I miss double clicking left corner of a window to close it. A habit from back to 3.1.

Someone should seriously publish a guide or something highlighting clever shortcuts like this one in Windows
