Explaining our closure:

I understand the closing of this sub was an unpopular decision for many. That doesn't mean it wasn't the right thing to do. Sometimes, in order to appreciate what you have, you must be without what you have, be it a house, food, a job, weed, or a fine young lady who's willing to get nasty whenever you desire. We want you to appreciate having this sub. We want you to love this. We, the mods, love and appreciate this sub.

The anti-Pao movement was cool here long before it became mainstream.

Fellow mod /u/Bongowongolongo has been leading the anti-Pao fight for months now.

As short as just two months ago, Pao existed only in the realm of Chinese food to most Redditors. After months of spreading our message, people are starting to understand the danger Pao exposes Reddit to. The only thing Pao is capable of is Digging Reddit's grave in pursuit of her own selfish agendas, which is the funding of her frivilous lawsuit, and her dream of transforming Reddit into a safe space.

The decision to go dark was debated among the mod team for several hours. The decision we came to is that SRC can't sit idly by and let the rest of Reddit fight the fight we started.

It doesn't matter that it was a bunch of powermods who decided to go dark first. They did the right thing in this instance, which should give us some hope for the health of the Reddit community. People are seeing just how destructive Pao is, and how it can negatively effect everyone from powermods to the lurkers who never log in. In this case, Pao's actions negatively effected /u/Chooter, who was, by all accounts, a good admin, an admin who cared.

How can you, the average SRC member, help to fight Pao going forward? Get involved. [link to the remove Pao petition] Spread the word any place appropriate, be it other subs, Twitter, Facebook, sending e-mails to people that matter (you decide who they may be), or by sending letters to online media in hopes of getting some articles written about Pao's appetite for destruction.
