I would have made it so that the player chooses what to do with them.

• If I give them a weapon they should stay and fight. But just to show that there's a bigger risk involved they could've made it so they have less HP and can die a bit easier, but it still up to me, the overseer, to assess the situation. There's obviously a timer set to the pregnancy in the game, so there could be a bigger risk of them dying later on in the pregnancy than right in the beginning of pregnancy.

• If a fire breaks out they stay and help to put it out (If I'm a caring overseer I would of course get her out of the room to protect her and the baby and get someone else in there).

• If they don't have a weapon they leave the room, but not the damsel-in-distress-mode they are shown to act like in the game now, as I described above.

I think that this would make me care more about them and might be a bigger challenge for me as a player. Instead of them automatically running out in every situation I would need to assess each situation and think about the risks involved of the woman and the baby she's carrying.

I would also make it so that everyone even though carrying a weapon would have a certain chance of panicking and running out of the room in case of incident. Maybe if the dweller has a low level of Strength, Charisma or Intelligence they might have a bigger chance of getting panic. Just to spice up the gameplay a bit.
