68k people want you gone. /r/all is filled with people wanting you gone. Mods of many of the popular subreddits shut themselves down in protest with their user's support.

That's not a vocal minority. That's a vocal fucking majority, and you've just been outvoted. DEMOCRACY IS NOT OPTIONAL. COMMENCE TERMINATION OF ELLEN PAO IMMEDIATELY. FOR FREEDOM AND STUFF.

about 71k and counting.

As of 6/25/15 there are 36 million user accounts and 169 million monthly uniques. 70k+ is nowhere near the majority.

I want her gone but don't want to go sign a petition. I'm sure there are millions of people like me.

If fewer people thought like this, the petition would have a lot more than 78k signs. The petition probably won't do anything, but it's at least a way for the average person to show some support.

I signed, but the petition requires a full name and email address which is too much for many.

That's the real reason there aren't more signatures right there.

The "vocal minority" are the ones creating the content that the "silent majority" come to reddit for.

Sure fine, but I never suggested it was.

Not even 1% of those 36 million upvote/downvote, a fraction of those that upvote/downvote comment and a very small group out of those that comment actually create content.
Those groups, are the 'vocal minority' and if they leave, the rest will follow, because what's Reddit without its content?

169 million monthly uniques means absolutely nothing in an era when a mobile device counts as "unique" every time it swaps comms towers.

I would say that doesn't matter. If a significant number can be hit, say 100,000, it might just be enough to appear in news stories about the incident. I'm not sure it's actually going to get her to stand down directly.

In the context of the total number of people who use Reddit, 68k is a rounding error.

Do you really think that 68k people is a majority of Reddit?

/r/funny has 9 MILLION subscribers, and you think that 68k is a majority?

Holy shit you guys are so delusional.

[–]How_to_cook_your_cat 2ポイント3ポイント  (1子コメント)

Plus bringing the notion of democracy in a private company matters is the neck-beardiest thing i've heard.

[–]Maldron_The_Assasin -1ポイント0ポイント  (1子コメント)

In terms of active users? Yes. They might have accumulated almost 9 million subscribers of the course of time, but at the moment they only have 15 k visitors.

It's now at 71k Accounting for the people who are too lazy/busy or just don't feel like signing, I'd say that makes up more than enough of Reddit's active userbase to be considered a majority.

Even if it isn't, I can almost guarantee you it will reach 100k soon. If 100k people of your userbase hate your CEO so much they signed a petition for her firing, you're doing something wrong.

edit

it's at 90k

100k out of 160million

That aint shit
