The only answer that we can give you is that we have absolutely no idea. We believe that the Church, founded by Christ, is the surest path to Heaven. However, when faced with God's overwhelming love and the true mystery of salvation (that God would send His Son to die for us as individuals) it is possible that God would allow those who had truly served Him well to enter into Heaven. However we cannot assume to know anything of God's mind, other then what has been revealed through Scripture. So, unfortunately, the answer is that until the end of time, we will have no idea where our loved ones go.

In cases like this, I always think of Matthew 7:21: "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven."

I think we read that line differently. To me, it seems like Christ is saying that even though many will call Him Lord, not everyone who does so will enter the Kingdom. Instead, they must also do the will of the Father.

So basically one must affirm that Christ is Lord, and also do the will of the Father. Not that one or the other is good enough. However, once again I say that it highly rests upon the mystery of Salvation.

If he has faith in Jesus then he will be with Him. May the Lord comfort & bless you & your Dad.

John 14:1-6 | New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)

Chapter 14
Last Supper Discourses. [1] “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. [2] In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. [4] Where am going you know the way.” [5] Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” [6] Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

God loves all His children right. You do not have be Catholic to enter heaven. I do not have a specific bible quote to tell you. Pray for your father. If he is truly good man in God's eyes, the gates of heaven will be open for him as well.

[–]LimeHatKitty 3ポイント4ポイント  (1子コメント)

We don't know if you have to be Catholic to enter Heaven. We do know it's the only sure way to get there (via the Sacraments), but we cannot speculate on anything beyond that. All we know is that everyone in Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory is Catholic because at death all Truth is revealed, and Catholicism is Truth that has Ben revealed to is on Earth.

Let's, however, also not act like it is sufficient to act Catholic or outwardly seem Catholic. Without actual repentance and love for God, our confessions are null and we eat and drink judgment on ourselves at Mass. Saying that it's the "sure way" without adding that qualification seems likely to be misleading.

According to the Mormon faith, he will go to heavon. According to certain islamic interpretations he probably won't. The Buddhist and Hindu say he will be reborn.

Does it really matter what one religious (sub)group says? It is more important that he was good for his family, friends and neighbours, on that, most religions agree.

Does it really matter whether he goes to Heaven or not?

Hmm... I'm going to go with "absolutely, yes" on that one.

[–]Toon_DB -3ポイント-2ポイント  (11子コメント)

Which heavon? Your heavon? My heavon? Mormon heavon? Nirvana?

According to my believe, everybody that tries to be a good person will go to heavon. Et voila, he goes to at least one heavon.

[–]SCHROEDINGERS_UTERUS 3ポイント4ポイント  (10子コメント)

You are aware that one cannot go to an idea of Heaven, right? It is not possible for a human being to inhabit the ideas or phantasies of another person.

[–]Toon_DB -5ポイント-4ポイント  (9子コメント)

So if I convince enough people of my heaven...

Edit: Heaven is not heavon, sorry :)

You can't even spell the word heaven right, stop pushing this nonsensical subjectivist idea of it. Reality is reality no matter how much you shout it out.

And I think it's very important to add that the idea of nirvana is closer to permanent death than anything resembling heaven.

[–]shannondoah 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

idea of nirvana is closer to permanent death

And another reason which was why the traditional rivals of those who espoused this view(of nirvana) harshly castigated it.

You can't even spell the word heaven right

Sorry about that, I was on mobile and switching between 2 languages, I fixed it for you.

Reality is reality no matter how much you shout it out.

Reality for you. The reality for millions of Buddhists is that they will be reborn, are their believes not valid? I have not got a reasonable response yet, you are only attacking me for saying something you don't like to hear. Give me reasons, so we can discuss this, instead of downvoting.

And I think it's very important to add that the idea of nirvana is closer to permanent death than anything resembling heaven.

I know, I thought people knew. It was more to lengthen the list and give more alternatives to the idea of afterlife and heaven.

[–]frsp 0ポイント1ポイント  (5子コメント)

No, their beliefs are not valid. There's no "reality for me" and "reality for them." This is nonsense and A does not become B because you feel like it.

There is no way to prove definitely from reason there is no reincarnation. Socrates and Plato believed in reincarnation and made sound arguments for it. However, because we know through revelation that we are appointed to die once and face judgement, there is no reincarnation.

[–]Toon_DB 0ポイント1ポイント  (4子コメント)

However, because we know through revelation that we are appointed to die once and face judgement, there is no reincarnation.

And then the Buddhist says:

There is no way to prove definitely from reason there is no afterlife. However, because we know through revelation that we are appointed to die, face judgement, and be reborn. there is reincarnation.

I have no problem with you believing, but you say you own the truth. I am pointing out that other religions think they are just as right as you are. You claiming to own the truth is quite egocentric, we live in a multicultural world, and we have to accept that others tthink differently

[–]frsp 0ポイント1ポイント  (3子コメント)

Buddhists don't believe in revelation or personal judgement, you're not helping your case at all.

I don't give a shit if it's "egocentric" and not "multicultural" to believe in truth. Denying reality in order to fulfill modernist bigotries and PC orthodoxy is more egocentric than anything I'm doing.

As if Pagans don't believe they hold the fullness of truth. They're not fluffy liberals just because they're non-white and non-Christian.

It does matter. Because being wrong does have consequences.
