Not a surprise. The censorship on the site and the removal actually liked reddit employees likely stems from the same goal, the increased corporation of the site. Free speech and quality thrown out the window in exchange for revenue. I just really fear that voat, if it becomes popular, will eventually become Digg 3.0.

I am of the opinion if it's going to burn then we might as well burn it to the ground!

Indeed. If the admins think people are just going to walk away from the site once its been transformed into the cotton wrapped safe place they say they want to create they should think again.

This community will destroy this site inside and out.

Someone posted earlier that it almost feels as if this meltdown is orchestrated and I have to say that theres a big part of me feels that way too. I find it difficult to believe that Pao and her buddies honestly believe that they can ban and censor people to an obscene degree, alienate most of the user base and still come out the other side with a rosey smelling safe space which can still host things such as AMA from topical figures or talk seriously about issues around the globe.

They've been storing this up for months, if not years. Chairman Pao is a symptom as much as a cause.

Eventually, all sites go Marie Antoinette on their userbase, often with fatal results.
