This was originally supposed to be small light-hearted tomfoolery about how I was the real source of /r/pics coming back online that most importantly, only affected me. No one else was supposed to get any flak from this. What actually happened was the fallout hit mostly /r/pics and it's mods.

The images are fake, there were never any Pao jedi mind tricks at work. Please stop attacking the /r/pics mods for something they didn't do. If you have to attack someone, attack me instead. But don't attack the /r/pics mod team, they had nothing to do with this.

I was in #subredditdrama on Snoonet, the /r/pics mods were getting abusive PMs. I personally think hate mail is hilarious, so I should "/r/pic mod: Tell everyone I was the one who made /r/pics public again" Eventually it become a pseudomeme about how I was to blame for everything happening, I was actually Ellen Pao and Alexis, etc.

I created a fake screenshot from one of my mod mail I sent to /r/reddit.com about spam, using the HTML tricks of course. First one was the "Do it" screenshot. That one I didn't actually release, it was picked up by someone else and posted in the live thread under the assumption it was real. It was eventually removed, but not before I saw a comment about "Woah, if this is real hoo boy the admins are in trouble!"

I've mentioned it before, but people on reddit will believe anything as long as you add "Whistleblower in your username. I created ekjpWhistleblower and leaked the second screenshot "Do you want KnotKnox or knotknox" It's especially stupid since y'know, changing usernames and all.

Eventually after a while I deleted /u/ekjpWhistleblower to make it look even spookier (who removed it??) I had only posted the second screenshot to that comment, so I was still anonymous. I then went out of my way to google the URL and comment "Please delete this, my conversations with the admins are not yours to read. Also, I will not say if they are or aren't mine!" Again, acting ridiculously stupid.

I created /u/ekjpWhistleblower4 and messaged that person (they had previously messaged me) about my struggles as a lowly leaked being censored by the admins, now on my 4th account. Of course making it seem like I've been trying to get the message out and that this was "super important info"

After a while I got bored and started saying things that didn't make any sense because I was tired.

The problem is that the genie is out of the bottle at this point. About half an hour before this post was submitted, I posted a warning that this looked like it's what was happening, which also has gotten similarly (at time of posting) downvoted while comments like this continue to spiral upward... my hypothesis is that the rage that the fake screens built up was so high and so "real" that nobody (well, at least fewer than half of the people who saw it at the time) wanted to accept the fact that they might have been misled.

I don't really care about the flak, it doesn't bother me, but it definitely bothered me when I was told the /r/pics mod team was being affected.
