I'm at a loss for you being stuck on the racial issue. If you're from the South you would understand but the Confederate flag has a very different meaning for people. The rest of the world sees it as a symbol of oppression slavery and hate. People from the South see it as a symbol of a people telling the federal government to leave them alone and let them to live their own lives. I do not agree whatsoever with the fact let there should be any consideration of maintaining the flag with the stigma tied to it. The point in hand is that this group of kids, that happened to be black, we're breaking the law. The original answer was to the person let said these were teenagers being teenagers. That's complete and utter bullshit. And its people that find excuses for people to break the law, that has turned this country into what it is today. People always trying to find reasons why you can go around do what you want to do, hurt whoever you want to hurt, and be able to appointment on something other than you being a complete asshat.
