Obama is a divider. Was it not enough, Obama, that the majority of Americans showed that racism doesn't own them by electing the first black president? Obama is a smart man, so I found it shocking that he would seriously pull the "racism still exists" card, as if it is a huge problem that can be solved. This country has HUNDREDS of millions of people, OF COURSE someone will hate someone else. You simply cannot EVER change that. If it's not race then it will be weight, or hair style, or whatever. But that's just how it is when you have numbers so large. But you don't judge on the minority, you judge on the majority. The majority of the country is made of of people who for the most part aren't racist. I say for the most part because we cannot truly be 100% non-biased because we are hard wired to be defensive and judge people, especially people different than us because of survival instincts. That's just evolution.

But Obama knows this. He knows that people of all color elected him. He knows that police brutality isn't something done by most police, rather, by a small few. He knows that with any group of sizable amount you will always, always find some bad eggs. But he uses that politically, which is where his inner scumbag comes out. When we United States elected Obama, a huge wall had been brought down. It was a proud night. However, not even eight years from that day and Obama has divided the country further than it has been in a long time. He has successfully put a wedge between black and white, left and right, north and south, citizen and police, people and their faith.

Congratulations, Obama, for being the Great Divider.

Only white males who don't subscribe to the LGBTQALMNOPZ agenda, they are definitely racist

Stop calling them liberals. They aren't liberals. They don't stand for liberty. They are communists. That's what they are.

[–]TeaPartyOverlordSupporter 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

"Liberals" will be beating this drum as long as there's any single white person they can point at who can fairly or unfairly be accused of prejudice.

When they can't identify any particular person or instance of prejudice, they irresponsibly accuse the whole society of "institutional racism", supported by totally absurd statistical metrics like "disparate impact", and bombard us with complaints about totally inert things by calling them "microaggressions".

The irony is that they practice blantant and open racial prejudice against whites and anyone else they can smear as "white" all along. That's right, to them, "white" is a slam. There's no "micro" at all about THAT aggression. All the while, the morons cannot detect a whiff of a double standard.

The problems with the arguments in this piece are all over. I'm going to do a few counters and maybe a few sources.

In wake of the Charleston massacre in South Carolina, many on the left want us to believe America is a racist nation dominated by white supremacy and hatred for blacks.

This is a generalization that the ENTIRETY of the Left think that the WHOLE nation is dominated by white supremacy and hatred for blacks.

Does that entire Left think that? Probably not. And of that amount that do think that, do they think the whole nation is dominated? Probably not. Some of the some of the sum of the sum. Just a basic issue starting out, Katie is setting up her opposition as being something easily to knock down.

They’re wrong.

“Racism, we are not cured of it. And it’s not just a matter of it not being polite to say n----- in public,” President Obama said in a recent interview with Marc Maron on his “WTF” podcast. “That’s not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It’s not just a matter of overt discrimination. Societies don’t, overnight, completely erase everything that happened 200 to 300 years prior.”

Obama added racism is “a long shadow and that’s still part of our DNA that’s passed on.”

“The focus has been on forgiveness and the evocation has been of Christ of the cross forgiving,” Dartmouth Professor Susannah Heschel said during a recent segment on MSNBC. “I would like to know if the white churches in this country are hanging their heads in shame today. But you know the shame isn’t enough because they can’t repent without restitution. When are we going to have reparation for slavery, for Jim Crow, for the new Jim Crow? Unless you give back, there is no forgiveness for you. The repentance cannot even begin without the restitution.”

So, this is one guy of the very small minority who think this way. But, even if it's representative of more people's views, where is her source for that claim? Perhaps, just using this as a way to paint a broader picture which is fine. But, again misrepresenting a side definitely makes it easier to dismiss that side.

It’s interesting how those on the left, in this case Obama and Heschel, make broad, general statements about how far we have to go on race issues but don’t give specifics about what’s left to fix. What do white churches have to do with the Charleston killer? They’ve offered support and unity. Is that something they should hang their heads over? The answer is no. And despite what Obama says, racism is not passed along in DNA through the generations. If that were the case, America wouldn’t be the tolerant, multi-racial country it is today.

DNA statement. There has always been tribalism among humans and other animals. This can cover racism aspects. That side versus our side. So, it is in our DNA to be proud of our side and see the other side as the enemy, based on whatever characteristics of race, political belief, region, etc.

What is the basis for tolerant, multi-racial country comment?

Yes, America, like the vast majority of the rest of the world, at one time participated in slavery. While the sin of slavery is not justified, it is important to acknowledge that the sin of slavery isn’t a uniquely American sin, but rather one of mankind throughout the course of history. Further, owning slaves is not a sin unique to white people; in fact, black Africans sold other blacks into slavery (and still do today). Slavery is uniquely human, but societies and countries that respect human dignity, like America, have stopped the horrifying practice.

Other countries have been racist so it's okay that America was because America has progressed faster than other countries.

America had the dignity to end slavery through a civil war and has since moved forward to correct wrongs with the civil rights movement, affirmative action, legislation, pop culture and much more. Institutional racism is no longer prevalent in the ways the left claims. Obama, elected twice by American voters, is black, as is former Attorney General Eric Holder and current Attorney General Loretta Lynch. There are a number of blacks serving in the U.S. Congress, including Republican Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.) and Congresswoman Mia Love (Utah). The likes of Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé are business and pop culture icons.

Institutional racism does exist. Black famous people is merely anecdotal evidence based on a few cases. And Obama said that 200 or 300 years of racism doesn't go away over night but as we know it has gotten better over time. So, the fact that there are people who are famous and loved, doesn't mean that that same person would be okay with black people in general.

Look around the world and you’ll find that America is the most tolerant and open society on earth. The World Values Survey shows India, not the United States, is in fact the most racist country with a class system. The same survey has shown for years that Americans are among the least racist in the world and therefore are the most tolerant.

Least racist doesn't mean not racist.

Do racists exist in this country? Of course they do. Is their racism sanctioned by the government and celebrated by fellow citizens? Absolutely not. In fact, the Charleston shooter (who I refuse to name) told friends he felt isolated and alone in his evil, racist views. That’s a silver lining. As a society we have corrected many of the wrongs of slavery and racism, the individuals who have not corrected their racist views are an innumerable minority roundly and strongly condemned by the rest of society.

Along in his evil, racist views yet his views were enlarged by fellow racists online. We have corrected many of the wrongs of slavery and racism but there is not a clear cut between racism like the shooter and the average person who has some racist views. It is a spectrum of views.

The Charleston shooter’s feelings about race are the exception, not the rule, in this country. This is demonstrated by the response in Charleston of blacks and whites holding hands and coming together, not apart, to honor the memory of those who were killed.

People always come together. Not all. The marches during the Civil Rights protests had black and white people together in a cause. But, of course there was racism there just as today. Maybe there is a less today but there is still some racism. This point of black and white people getting along is not a sign of racism being obliterated.

America isn’t a racist country, not even close, and it certainly isn’t a “white supremacist” society. The left falsely saying so promotes not progress but division. American history includes slavery and racism, but its current status and future as a whole does not.

Really? America isn't racist? Even with groups still in large numbers, even with studies that show cultural racism, even with the history and current status, racism is not and probably cannot be cured. Division comes from progress only if the ones who don't want to progress are against the progressive idea. Women voting created division, slavery created the civil war, etc.

The people who lost loved ones at Emanuel AME Church have forgiven their killer. It’s time the left does the same with America for her long past sins.

America should forgive as it is part of moving on but you cannot say there is no problem to be forgiven for.

Oh how the Left desperately needs racism to exist in a material way in America...

[–]Va_Fungool -1ポイント0ポイント  (6子コメント)

you people just forget 2 weeks ago black people were killed in a church solely cause they were black....?

[–]KuztomX 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yes, and the other day a mentally challenged young man was killed in LA simply for wearing the wrong color shoes.....by other blacks. Blacks people are the biggest oppressors and killers of black people in this country. In fact, black culture has latched on to racial names for themselves, though they slightly changed it from "nigger" to "niggah", because that makes a huge difference, right? That word still exists today because it's in everyone's face. Turn on a rap song and there it is. Black people need to stop looking for someone to blame and fix it's own culture. Too many blacks are killing and hating on each other. There is no way, absolutely NO way you can expect the nation to change if your own culture won't change first.

Considering it was the first sentence of the article, I do not think anyone who read the link would.
