Definition of transmisogyny from Wikipedia :

Transmisogyny (sometimes trans-misogyny) is the intersection of transphobia and misogyny. It was coined by Julia Serano in her 2007 book Whipping Girl and used to describe the unique discrimination faced by trans women because of "the assumption that femaleness and femininity are inferior to, and exist primarily for the benefit of, maleness and masculinity",[1][2][3] and the way that transphobia intensifies the misogyny faced by trans women (and vice versa).[1]

I see none of that here. It is really fucking shitty that these things happen to you, but this drag queen doing this act DOES NOT contribute to your oppression. None of the people at that show suddenly decided that they were gonna find a transwoman to harass her and call her a man.

Not to mention that a lot of the people who get all riled up about jokes like this aren't even trans.

Edit: A big point I want to make is that I think that you don't need to find this funny, but should respect that other people can and still be your allies.

the irony is that I never said that sharon doing this act contributed to my oppression

to the contrary I think that sharon looks cute as caitlyn (I've said this on all the threads involving this act) and furthermore I am actually really glad that sharon didn't incorporate any unnecessary transmisogynistic elements into her impersonation considering sharon has been "subversive" in the past

my problem was with your post which trivialized the potentially oppressive aspects of transmisogynist humor as people (trans women) having like a bad sense of humor or whatever; I don't care about whether people think it's funny or not, I care about how trans women always being called men everywhere they go creates a culture of violence and stigma towards trans women, and humor that relies on exploiting this culture of violence towards trans women innately contributes to this culture. If it weren't a widespread issue I wouldn't care about humor regarding the manly features of trans women and neither should anybody else. And I could give two shits about Caitlyn Jenner's wrinkly ass either way

if anything I'm just tired of seeing cis people going "wow the trans are really gonna be upset at this!!" on all these sharon jenner threads like it's so unecessary like I come on this subreddit bc I wanna see stunning looks and (good) drag queen humor not because I want to be reminded of transmisogyny trust and believe

I wasn't talking about Sharon, I was talking about the queen that did Dude Looks Like a Lady as Caitlyn.

This is where our disagreement is. I don't see humor as transmisogynistic. I don't think that queen lipsyncing to that song causes anyone to be oppressed or contributes to the ignorance... It's lighthearted.
