Such a pipeline through Syria to carry Iran's oil would be VERY benefical to Iran. You think we would EVER allow that? When we can install our own client state and build our own lines?

Are you retarted? Necular power is cheaper and can heat better gas than russia? The start up costs for building a plant are outrageous. And Europe buys 3/4's of its natural gas and oil from Russia. If you would actually look at one of the 20+ graphics (from the Turkish goverment) I linked you to, you would see a plethora of pipelines running thorugh/ proposed by the Turkish goverment through Turkey and Syria.

People build pipelines across vaster distances than that. Ships are way more expensive than a pipeline, and you have to run them through area's that the US Navy not just controls, but dominates. Also consider the cost factor.

And whats your deal with "urban centers" and pipelines? You think they leak all over the place or something? Pipelines are 1000000000000000x cleaner than ships.

And now your saying they would just build massive amounts of nuke plants all over Europe rather than pipe in middle east gas? Cuase Uranium is cheaper? Think about what your saying for a second and compare it to a simple pipeline. Realize that Europe buys 3/4 of its gas from Russia. Now realize why a Syrian Pipeline would be benefical to the West, and erode Russia's power base at the same time.

Actually the "little oil money" allowed Libya's people to have the highest GDP in ALL of Africa. The average person made 40,000 per year, didn't have to pay for electricty, got a paid for house with land upon marriage, etc.
