If it was just dehydration I would expect your urine to be darker (more concentrated). Look up the symptoms of type 1 diabetes and see if it sounds like you.

You likely have hand foot and mouth disease. Usually only little kids get it but adults definitely can too. It's pretty common this time of year. It's caused by a virus and it will just get better with time in a few days to a week. Your hands and or fingernails may peel off as it heals.

I am a pediatrician and I'd say about a quarter of the time I can feel an enlarged spleen with mono especially when the symptoms last more than a week. I'm sure your providers told you this but no contact sports until someone clears you!

I would try a stool softener like Miralax. You can mix a capful with water or other clear liquid. If you are really backed up it might take a few doses. If you want relief fast you can take multiple doses at a time but you run the risk of watery poop if you overshoot which may actually make you feel better. It is very safe, I prescribe it to little kids all the time.

That is not true. The AAP did change their view from saying there are no health benefits to admitting that there are some but in no way do they say that every male should be circumcised.

http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/130/3/585.full

"Although health benefits are not great enough to recommend routine circumcision for all male newborns, the benefits of circumcision are sufficient to justify access to this procedure for families choosing it and to warrant third-party payment for circumcision of male newborns. It is important that clinicians routinely inform parents of the health benefits and risks of male newborn circumcision in an unbiased and accurate manner.

Parents ultimately should decide whether circumcision is in the best interests of their male child. They will need to weigh medical information in the context of their own religious, ethical, and cultural beliefs and practices. The medical benefits alone may not outweigh these other considerations for individual families."

I completely agree--this is a good webpage too that I like: http://www.childrenshospital.org/health-topics/conditions/allergic-colitis

You should definitely see her pediatrician, but if she is formula fed it is an easy fix by switching her to a formula like alimentum or nutramigen that doesn't have any milk or soy protein. Most kids outgrow it by the time they or one or shortly there after.

Yes it probably runs on your husband's side. Please don't feel like a horrible mom! My point was that the seizure usually happens when the fever rises quickly, ie one minute your child is fine with no fever and the next has high fever and a seizure giving you no time to get meds in him or her.

Around 5% of kids will have one. It has to do with a fast rising temperature and the developing brain. About 1/3 of kids who have one will have another. Often one parent had them growing up too. For the most part if the child has been developing normally and the seizure lasts less than 5 minutes and the child returns to herself in a few hours we don't worry. It's always good to have your child checked at the hospital when it happens because seizures can mean other things too and sometimes need medicine to stop them. It's also good to be checked to see what the cause of the high fever is but it is usually just a virus. Unfortunately they are hard to prevent with Tylenol of Motrin because it ususally happens when the fever just starts and rises quickly before you know they are sick.

Not sure if it's the same in Texas, but in California pharmacies no longer carry mebendzone and there is an albendazole shortage and is pretty expensive and not covered by most insurance for some reason. There is an over the counter med called Pin-X that you might want to try.
