  • Example A: "Obama, while while doing his laundry, said that carrots are evil." Can be more clearly stated for the purpose of a title as "Obama . . . said that carrots are evil"

  • Example B: "Obama said that carrots are evil, while doing his laundry." Can be shortened to "Obama said that carrots are evil."

  • Example C: "While doing his laundry, Obama said that carrots are evil." can be shorted to "Obama said that carrots are evil."

Am I correct in understanding that B and C would be acceptable but not A? All three formulations of the sentence are identical in meaning and can be reduced to the same main idea. If I wanted to use A as a topic title, would I be forced to include the bit about Obama's laundry?

What about editing out a clause of sentence which would be confusing if the quote were presented whole as it's taken out of context?

My choice in operating systems is not a lifestyle choice. God. That makes me think of the most hardcore Apple fanboys.

I haven't used Widnows as my primary OS since Windows98. It has nothing to do with a lifestyle choice and everything to do with the technical superiority of Linux.

There are a lot of us who believe in using the best tool for the job and have no interest in the GPL/BSD license debate.

Two systems have similar userspaces with the biggest difference being the kernel. How many people here are kernel hackers? How many even compile their own kernels regardless of what *nix flavor they use?

For the way most of us use our systems, what kernel we're using is not that important a factor.

I makes logical sense that topics about open source OSs and coding will overlap. There's no logical reason for the privacy/NSA stuff to be here.

I'm debating switching to Ubuntu Gnome. I've been running sid with Gnome for years but it's a pain to install and transitions are annoying.
