I wanna know why you can see through his pants?

Maybe his underwear are outside of his pants.

Like in Back to the Future 3

Maybe it's Super Man in his adolescence

Quail Man?

Quail man would have had a belt around his forehead. Think, man. Think!

This statement is offensive to quail women.

No, it can't be Superman. He said he is a heterosexual.

The one where they go to the old west?

He is wearing Lululemon yoga pants, obviously.

I thought he was wearing a fanny pack. Honestly he's probably the one being oppressed the most if he is wearing a fanny pack.

Feminist mandated anti-rape underwear for all cishet males. I'm just surprised they let him out without his anti-rape eyewear though.

Wait, you're not supposed to be able to see through pants?

As someone who never has and has no intention of ever using Tumblr, how exaggerated in this whole 'everything is oppression' sentiment? I see it referenced all the time on Reddit, but I find it hard to believe that people there are really that crazily sensitive. Or is it just a bunch of trolls playing up the meme at this point?

Tumblr is like any other social site--there are asshats, and there are interesting, sensible people.

What you see on Tumblr depends on who you follow. If you go searching for the crazies, you'll find them. If you go searching for the logical...you'll find them too.

My dashboard is full of a lot of artists, and fandom talk.

fandom talk

This and porn have got to make up about 90% of the content on tumblr.

To say nothing of the posts that are fandom and porn.

Fandom porn art probably makes up like 99% of tumblr's content

Tumblr also has some of the most delightfully fucked up porn pages I've ever encountered. I'm glad Tumblr exists just for that reason.

Ooh that sounds awful. What kind, do you have links? So I know what to avoid, you know.

If you like gay men fucking each other with dog dicks, sure.

Tumblr also has some of the most delightfully fucked up porn pages I've ever encountered.

I know, that Women Laughing Alone With Salad page has got to be the strangest porn I've ever seen.

What you see on Tumblr depends on who you follow.

Kind of like reddit, except if it was where you followed users, rather than communities.

I will admit, on their explore page (a loosely similar version of /r/all), they have some SJ content in the text section, but that's pretty well hidden and for the most part, what you see is what you follow.

If one follows some TERF blog, don't be surprised to see TERF content. Same thing on reddit (though reddit is probably more anti-SJW, if that means anything).

My dashboard isn't really all that decked out, but I don't use it very often.

To be honest though, some fandoms are inseparable from the crazy. Sherlock, Supernatural... maybe some others? I can't remember right now. But if you like those two shows, don't use tumblr for them.

Extremely exaggerated. Or more accurately, you have to want to see it.

On reddit you control what content you want to see by subscribing to specific forums that are focused around topics. On tumblr you control what content you see by subscribing to specific blogs. So you really only ever see content posted by people that you've chosen to have on your dashboard.

I'm not exaggerating when I say I've never once seen the sort of thing reddit talks about constantly on tumblr.

My current dashboard is some video game stuff, some comic writers/artists, pictures of cool swords, and magic's lead designer answering questions. Actually like 80% of what I see is that last one, jesus christ does he post a lot.

I completely agree. I've been on tumblr for 8 years and unless you're following someone who is politically/socially active, you wont see the kind of content the cartoon is poking fun at. There are certainly lots of people on tumblr who fit the bill, but they're not in the majority by any means.

You have to realize that content spreads through tumblr in a very different way, and it entirely depends on the group of people you follow.

Yeah, I don't think most redditor's totally understand how tumblr is set up. It's first and format a blogging site, and you just subscribe to blogs. It's a far more self curated experience than reddit is, closer to twitter even.

So whenever I see people bitch about tumblr, I usually assume their only exposure to it is through subs like TiA or other places that specifically seek out the worst stuff (or the jokes they think or serious) and post them.

If you cherry pick every insane racist/misogynist post made on reddit you could paint it out to be a total shitshow too

Right, that's exactly my point.

Also almost all the politically/socially active blogs are not nearly as bad as reddit likes to make them out to be. Only 1% of them are the crazy "radical feminist" kind of people. And there are just as many other kinds of crazies like neonazis and shit. Just like there are fringe groups on any site.

[–]SHOW_ME_YOUR_GOATS 6ポイント7ポイント  (0子コメント)

There are like a small hand full but reddit has a large group that is creeply obsessed with what young pubescent girls say on tumblr. Its pretty bad.

It's about as realistic as a third panel with a woman standing there in regular clothes saying, "I want to walk down the street without being harassed," and a crouching guy in a fedora with a Linux Tshirt yelling, "SHE'S TAKING AWAY MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH!"

It's hyperbolic satire of the website involved. Most of the people I know IRL who have tumblr accounts use it for art, sometimes for politics, sometimes for silly jokes and memes. Sometimes yes, there are transkin marijuanasexuals who claim to have PTSD from their moms making then match their clothes as a kid on tumblr. But reddit has that too.

Except that this goddamned thing actually happens all the time on Reddit. Reddit is like the anti-Tumblr where you take a Tumblr cliche, devise the exact opposite of that cliche, and then actually find it on Reddit.

Lol

fedora with a Linux Tshirt

I pretty much only went on tumblr a few times to check out the porn situation they got going on. Which isn't bad.

I never really see people act like that and I use tumblr daily, yet this trope always gets used to try to discredit an entire political movement that happens to be slightly more common on one website than it is on others.

I see this kind of post constantly on reddit and its very obnoxious in my opinion.

Tumblr is pretty similar to reddit if a bit more left leaning. Just like we have SRS and similar subs you find the same there.

More left than Reddit? Crap

It's really not that hard to be more left than Reddit

off the reservation left I suppose.

I know a couple of timblr users, and I feel that this is a vocal minority of tumblr, and that most users on there are rationally thinking people.

I am also curious

Extremely exaggerated. The people who actually scream that they are being oppressed when they so much as come into contact with a 'white heterosexual male' make up an extremely small portion of the demographic of tumblr users. More-so, this demographic consists mainly of 12-15 year old t(w)eens.

That said, Tumblr is a much more liberal place than reddit is. Everyone is a feminist over there and everyone agrees that that means equality for the sexes. People often talk of 'triggers' but almost exclusively in relation to suicide, rape, death, and various phobias. While there are those that represent the extremes of the above opinions, those demographics are more comparable to the demographics of /r/MensRights and /r/theRedPill.

While, those sub-forums certainly exist and are worth talking about, most of the user base doesn't take their opinions worth anything.

Source: Have had a tumblr for like 5 years now.

As a current college student I can assure you these people exist. One day 2 girls asked me for a poll where I consider myself sexually and gender wise. I told them, "I guess I'm just your average straight male." Man they went fucking off on me calling me an ignorant fucking bigot and followed me for a few minutes just harassing me. No these creatures definitely exist.

I have to say, thus far this comment section isn't the shitshow I thought it'd be.

I don't see how she doesn't understand she's reinforcing many peoples views about bitchy annoying ass feminists. Regardless of whether they are the majority of the feminist movement or not, the way she handles things does not make people change their minds. The complete opposite actually.

i feel like most of these people are intentionally being as extreme as they can be for the attention of it. it's hard to believe that people like this not only exist, but are so common. it has to be that most of the "crazy tumblr girl" shit we see is just some dude pretending to be the worst example of one to make some funny posts.

they're just so incredibly insane that it's hard to believe they exist. like the whole "wow men just need to all die wtf" and "any and all physical contact is rape and you're raping me now by disagreeing literally" is just so balls-to-the-wall retarded that i can't read it and assume there's a person who believes it on the other side. i don't want to. humans have gotta be doing better than that.

I went to a pretty liberal, large university and was involved in a lot of the feminist groups and mingled with a lot of women from different backgrounds who identified as "feminists". None of them were like this, none. Obviously there are the few that go overboard, but none would say they "hate all men", and they talk about rape very realistically and by it's definition - without consent.

Angry feminists are VERY few and far between, the only reason that it seems as if there are more than this is because the craziest ones get the most attention.

My goodness that made me angry. This is why I would never call myself a feminist. I don't want to get lumped in with a nutter like her.

I'm perfectly happy as a female engineer. Didn't really have any trouble becoming one. Certainly was never held back by my ovaries. Having her spout this junk just makes if seem like my female coworkers and I don't count in her little tally of the world.

I want to shoot her.

So... You're the guy in the first pic with the female in the second pic?

Does anyone have that clip of her from the same event where the camera pans to the guy on the right with his face, completely bewildered at the situation, as the soundtrack plays "hello darkness my old friend?"

Chanty Binx. A fucking cunt-bag, if you ask me.

Yeah. She's a pretty horrible person.

I don't wish harm upon her, but if her house was on fire, I'd rescue her pets first.

We'd all rescue Hitler pets first if his house was on fire.

I think in that case I would only rescue the pets... and maybe his hot niece/girlfriend.

Eva Braun loved Hitler enough to marry him and commit suicide alongside him, so maybe she's not really worth saving either. What kind of person do you have to be to want to marry Hitler?

You guys just don't know Hitler like I know Hitler. He loves me for me, and just look at all the pets he has! Would a bad guy have this many pets?

He keeps animals captive and enslaved for his own enjoyment, which is PART OF PATRIARCHY

[–]Pkacua 1

Gold digger gone Stockholm syndrome. But no yeah fuck her.

The same kind of sweet girl down the street that is utterly convinced her abusive boyfriend that beats her is the best thing to ever happen in her life and it's just a different form of love.

Or the same sweet girl who is totally oblivious because the boyfriend goes out and murders kittens in the street and beats up old folks but otherwise portrays himself as a really dashing lovely guy when he is with her.

That's probably a good point you have there. I don't know enough about her to discern whether she was just extremely impressionable or was a legit super nazi supporter, and smart enough to understand what that entails.

I have a serious question. So she has had to have seen this kind of hate... How do you think she rationalizes>?

Rational? Feminist? Come again?

Touche. Though, someone calls you a horse, punch them in the face; second person calls you a horse, punch them in the face; third person calls you a horse, get a saddle.

How many of these tumblr girls do you people actually meet in real life? My guess is that a majority of you never have and never will because they are almost nonexistent, something you would know if you got off the Internet.

How many of these tumblr girls do you people actually meet in real life?

Enough to picket and shut down a public speaker at the university down the street from where I live simply because the woman speaking had written some critiques of feminism in the past.

Seriously, its fucked up.

Downvotes mean they don't exist I think.

Yeah, one of the worst things about Reddit is that baked into the site's DNA is this idea of "disagreement --> censorship."

Downvotes are supposed to be used for spam, not to punish people who disagree with you or to prevent others from seeing their thoughts... but that's how everyone uses the downvote, creating this hivemind where if you want visibility or karma, you have to agree with the prevailing sentiment.

That's not actually how downvotes are supposed to be used. My interpretation of the reddiquette is that for a posting, the voting arrows are for you to vote on whether or not you find the post interesting. In the comments, the voting arrows are for you to vote on whether or not you believe the comment adds to the discussion.

Spam should be reported as spam.

Not how they're SUPPOSED to be used. But that's how people downvote regardless.

I would somewhat agree. I do think too many people use comment voting to agree or disagree. But, in some cases, it is possible to disagree with something that adds nothing to the conversation. I also don't see anything wrong with upvoting something you agree with, as long as it adds to the conversation.

e\ I was replying to his comment that downvotes are supposed to be used for spam.

But we're talking about downvoting, not upvoting. People downvote just because they don't agree, it gives the illusion of a right and wrong opinion for everything. It immediately biases your opinion of the post before you even read it.

These tumbler girls are rampant on college campuses across the US. It's proven by comedians refusing to do shows at colleges because it's too hostile and PC. As well as the need for "safe spaces' with puppies when certain speakers are scheduled to speak. Not to mention professors afraid to cover certain topics for fear or offending the wrong person who will get them fired. Its far more common than you think. In fact limiting your perception based only on the pool of people you interact with on a daily basis is quite ignorant when you know the internet is a wider sample of what society is like as a whole.

I prefer to call them firstworld feminists. People who live in a free and open society where women and men have essentially the same treatment under the law (abortion is still a major issue, but it's the only major one that comes to mind right now) but they act like they're the most persecuted people on the planet. Bitch please, somewhere around 80% of the women on the planet live outside of the first world and suffer far more injustice than you ever have or ever will. You don't get to be upset that a man did or did not hold the door for you or that the man working in a bucket 50 feet in the air next to high voltage lines gets paid more than you do for working a desk job in an air conditioned office.

My mom mixes the dam of the canal when things go bad. She gets lowered 50 ft down on a harness and works with huge machinery. It's dangerous and vigorous. She is the most hardworking employee in her section and scored the highest on all the exams. She is the only female though, and has had to put up with a lot of bs for years because of it :( Just because a problem doesn't apply to you doesn't mean it's not real. Some girls just wanted to be treated equal. I appreciate one of my good friends because we play the punch bug game when we see a VW beetle and if he wins he punches me just as hard as he would any of the other guys. That's equality to me.

My team at work is made up of all men except for one woman. We give her shit constantly. Then again, we give each other shit constantly. That's how guys relate to each other on the job. We bag on everything the other guy is doing (in a passive-aggressive deadpan friendly way of course).

We explained to her right up front, when she joined, that she was going to be treated like any other member of the team, and to not take it personally. There's only been a couple times where somebody overstepped and hurt her feelings, and apologies were given. She's been a real trooper and has learned to dish it out as well as she gets it.

Sometimes I think women don't realize that if they're constantly getting shit from their male counterparts, then they actually are part of the team. Far more so than if everybody is polite, yet distant.

Sorry, but we can tell.

I've worked on crews where we give each other the same shit, and I've worked on crews where I get shit on. I'm sure you and your boys are fine, but just because you don't have a problem, doesn't mean there isn't a problem.

Am I the only man out there who thinks this kind of stuff just is not healthy, even for male relationships?

I am sorry, but I want to have a positive experience with my co-workers. I used to just get so damn tired of hanging out with my brother and his friends because they bagged on each other constantly, and unless you kept it up they would bag on you the most because they saw you could not take it.

I do not mind teasing and self-deprecating humour, but I would much rather be in a positive environment where people are kind and build each other up over constant bagging and ragging on each other.

There is a difference between getting shit from my coworkers and the kind of bs that pisses me off that wouldn't happen if I had a dick between my legs. It isn't confusing to me. I can banter with men. It's not like it is an artform exclusive to men. I don't personally feel oppressed or anything, but I do get annoyed fairly frequently by men in my field. I am lucky. I know women who have it much worse and we all are aware of how much worse it could be and is for women in countries outside the USA. I'm sorry we like to vent our frustrations and talk about these problems, but maybe if we stop pretending the problem doesn't exist at all we can all start repairing it. It gets better all the time, though, and I just keep speaking up when I feel like I am getting spoken to like a little lady instead of a person. Just the other day, someone told me that I am basically asking for it by being in a STEM profession and that I should learn to deal with it and not say anything when it happens, and I was like, Fuck that shit! I will stand up for myself. So, I guess, my point is, your statement doesn't really resonate with me. I know when I am being treated like one of the guys and when I am being talked down to because I'm not one of the guys. But kudos to you and your crew for treating a woman like a person.

Just because a problem doesn't apply to you doesn't mean it's not real

But FeralBadger didn't say anything about problems not applying to him.... What he said is that these problems are just not such a big deal. Honestly, having to put up with bs from co-workers really isn't such a big deal. Moreover, most people have to put up with bs from co-workers, male and female. And compared to problems such as not being allowed to go to school, or having your vagina sewn shut when you reach puberty, bs from co-workers sounds almost blissful...

I'm a woman, btw.

Just because someone has it worse than someone else doesn't mean that it's okay. Some people don't like being talked to that way even if it is "joking".

I think a lot of problems in this arena would be solved if women could hear how (some) men talk to each other when they're only with other men. I've done retail work, (and still do some) office work, in addition to doing my trade, so I've got a decent grasp on what the different environments can be like. Out the field I'm usually with general construction workers or other tradesmen (and some of those guys are a little rough around the edges, to say the least), and it's just good-natured shit getting thrown back and forth constantly. Retail and office environments tend to be a little more strict, so I think that might give the wrong impression to women coming from those areas to a more male-dominated or "rougher" (for lack of a better term) field.

Actually part of the reason I despise office work is that everyone feels so goddamn fake. No one says what they actually mean. I'd much rather someone tell me to go fuck myself with a piece of rebar than deal with that passive-aggressive shit you get when someone in your cube farm has a problem with you.

The plural of anecdote isn't data.

That logic doesn't really make sense though. If my store is being robbed, you can't say "you shouldn't complain because the store two towns over is being burned down. Plus you have insurance".

I don't deserve to be robbed. The store two towns over doesn't deserve to be burned down. Justice isn't a finite resource which needs to be divided out to those who need it most and rationed to those who need it less.

That's a complete straw-man. It's more like if a store smells like lilacs and you don't like lilacs, so you insist the store and everyone who has ever worked there hates you.

But your analogy is wrong because rich white feminists in American colleges incur basically no injustices at all. Their "store" isn't being burned, or robbed, or anything else.

So it's not a little ridiculous when you have clowns like that girl at Columbia carrying a mattress and making porn (I'm not joking, google it) because a guy hit it and quit it, while in Saudi Arabia women are literally being stoned to death for witchcraft.

Their "store" isn't being burned, or robbed, or anything else.

All this is is you saying someone else's problem do not matter. You have no right to say that, especially since you have even less problems than the people you are dismissing.

You are the guy in the store that got rezoned so your property taxes dropped by $300 per year telling the person who's store got robbed that life is great and their store obviously did not get robbed since you will be paying $300 less on your taxes every year.

All this is is you saying someone else's problem do not matter.

Well when they're making a bunch of the problems up to begin with, it's actually pretty reasonable to say those problems don't matter.

This kind of argument is often used to dismiss and shut down discussion of social ills by trivializing things that are actually important. "Oh, these spoiled entitled women thinking they should receive as much for sitting in an office as a man does for fixing high voltage lines! Don't they know women in Africa are literally having their vaginas sewn shut?"

Yes, thank you, we know. We also know that many of us (myself included until recently) make less than our male counterparts for performing the same duties at work, and that those dangerous high paying jobs like the one you reference rarely hire women, even when said women are qualified.

Are those issues as bad as FGM, or any of the other atrocities committed against women in the third world? Of course not, but what is? If that's the standard to meet before something becomes a problem that needs to be addressed, very few problems will ever be addressed. Very few things are as bad or worse.

Also, somewhat related: the majority of charity work being done in the third world to help women in those awful situations is done by women's groups. Feminists want to improve life for all women. Some focus their efforts here, some focus it abroad. Some do both! There's not a finite amount of giving a shit available. You can think both pay disparity and FGM are bad. You can fight to stop both.

Human knowledge is relative. If you've only lived in a world where everything is great, then shit is good. Truly terrible becomes impossible to imagine.

It's why there will never be an end to civil complaints whether merited or not. People just develop an heightened bitch-sense. It's as natural as anything humans do.

I find it funny that people who complain about "Tumblr feminists" are more whiny and vocal than the supposed Tumblrers themselves. In fact I have never actually encountered them, leading me to believe they're bogeymen (spooky SJWs who are hellbent on hating men and destroying gaming) created by internet reactionaries.
