When someone you love that much betrays you so spectacularly your brain has no choice but to quickly rewire itself against that person to save your sanity. It's simply impossible to feel the same about someone after that happens. Another example would be that when I was with her I thought she was beautiful and now when I see a picture of her I find her rather unattractive. She looks like an entirely different person, her features are different, I don't see what used to draw me to her physically. Your brain does amazing things to protect you. So yes of course I did love and care for her but in order to not jump off the bay bridge I burned out a lot of those feeings the past several weeks via crying, raging, panicking, vomiting, et al.

This kind of shit worries me. How can I trust my future partner at work? It seems like this stuff happens constantly.

Hah. I'm in San Francisco myself. And yeah when I first found out I had a breakdown, gave her the apartment and let her keep a car I had bought for her. Bitch used my health insurance to buy birth control a week after it happened. I am three weeks out and honestly feeling way better. I've been going to therapy twice a week since it happened to keep from slipping off the deep end and it's helped immensely. Also the absurdity and intense pain seems to have caused it to burn itself out of my brain quickly. When I think of them getting together I just feel disgust.

Interestingly, several of her other coworkers reached out to me to say he's known to constantly hit on women at work inappropriately and he's done this shit before. Part of me almost worries for her.

When she cheated on me with her 45-year old fat balding coworker with an ex wife, a fourteen year old son, and a six year relationship with another woman because "he's so present when we talk. It's just easy." Good luck with that shit. I was a few weeks away from proposing too. People lose their minds when they have midlife crises.

It's a defense against being old. The kids are into something we don't get and its probably the first time we've realized we're getting older and think something the younger generation does is stupid. I heard this shit all the time growing up (why do you play video games why don't you go outside and play with a rock or something? Kids these days are so self absorbed!)

Try either at Chicagos Pasta and Pizza on Lincoln. When I lived in Chicago it was my place and I go there every time I'm back. I never liked the "famous" places, especially Uno and Due.

On the flip side if I had a nickel for every Asian friend and coworker that humble bragged about how hard they worked in school because "you know... Asian parents" like having zero childhood was something to be proud of? I'd have at least enough money to buy a sandwich.

On two lane highways in Manitoba you are supposed to keep right except to pass and you will get pulled over for hanging out in the left lane. But traffic is never such that you need to be in the left lane except to pass. Same goes for most of Northwestern Ontario. Closer to GTA things change because roads are actually used to capacity.

That's because California residents pay for mandatory state disability insurance on income earned. Canada has paid maternity and paternity leave as well because Canadians pay for federal employment insurance on income earned. Your maternity pay is just money the government has forced you to invest ahead of time.

"A green light means “go.” You may begin to cross the intersection as soon as it is clear. Yield to any vehicles or pedestrians in the intersection. When turning left, yield to oncoming traffic. When turning right or left, yield to pedestrians crossing in front of your vehicle." From the Minnesota Drivers Handbook. I dunno how much simpler this can be made.

That's definitely a Chicago thing. Especially on Michigan because the first half of any turning light is spent waiting for tourists from Wisconsin that don't realize a green turning arrow doesn't mean they can walk.
