Synereo is an exciting new buzzword-based startup, connecting together hitherto-unchained buzzwords to solicit funds from VCs when their brains leak out their ears.
So what does it claim to be doing? From a "news" writeup:
Using Bitcoin’s blockchain, a sophisticated new social network is crowdfunding its plans to save the middle class. The first step? Join a platform where users reward each other for good content
When they say "bitcoin" there, of course, they mean "altcoin". They're claiming something like "sidechain" or "coloured coin". Though my psychic powers tell me the details are unimportant as long as they foster a reality distortion field that somehow gets money their way. When they say "reward each other for good content", they mean "pay us the coloured Bitcoins you bought from us to promote your ads."
They're not doing so great; apparently even Bitcoiners aren't quite that dumb.
Here are some slides on what they're doing. If you can make any coherent sense of these things, you're doing better than me. I think they're some sort of memetic Killing Joke. part 1, part 2, part 3
If there's a sensible explanation and this isn't ridiculously fraudulent bullshit at literally every level, I await enlightenment.
