Right, who calls it the rebel American flag?

[–]Duke_Thunderkiss 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

Seriously, everyone calls it the "stars and bars"

Don't underestimate stupid people man.

He's still 'technically' correct...

Also...sarcasm could've been at play. If a workspace can't have some humor about this (this is person and context dependent of course) - then that's a shame. It's been a few hundred years...lets get over it - or not speak about it at all, his boss DID ask.

Agree, how many black people in america today are ex-slaves? None I'm pretty sure, so it's not like it affects them. Lets remember the history and make sure not let it repeat itself.

Black people understand that they were never slaves, but many of the issues that relate to race today have stemmed from slavery. Stereotypes from slavery have perpetuated through time and have been embedded into both American culture and American institutions. Which affects how many black people are treated in the United States.

When slavery was abolished it didn't mean that black people were instantly integrated into society. Black people still faced extreme oppression and were prevented from working due to their race which in combination of an unsupportive and hostile community didn't allow for upward mobility of economic class. Jim Crow laws existed to prevent black people from being a part of society and ultimately delaying the ability to become functioning members in the postbellum south.

Edit: forgot a word or two

Not that I'm disregarding the fact that blacks were oppressed back in the day, but when you start shunning words and symbols used by racist organizations you start giving them power. For example at one time blacks use to be proud of being an N word, and used it as and empowering thing. In today's world it's highly offensive, and that gives those few racist people out there a word to use against blacks.

Of course it affects them. There may not be any living former slaves, but slavery was not a "few hundred years ago," it was 150 years ago. There are still plenty of people alive today who knew former slaves, whose grandparents were slaves. There are people alive today who were beaten for trying to vote. The affects of slavery are still very much extant, and thinking of it as ancient history is incorrect.

You make a valid point Idk why people are downvoting you.

It has affected more than just one generation.

Worst. Superhero. Ever.

We live in an age where people record their themselves committing crimes, uploading it, and then wondering why they got caught. Don't underestimate the stupid of people.

I'm so glad you were there so we know for sure.

Ah yes, because I suppose you know everything

It's either this or "is this what insanity wolf has come to these days?" Every single time.

By that logic, no insane wolves happen.

Is there a reason you called blacks "African Americans" but you called whites "whites"? As a European American I'm offended! ....

To some Americans, "European" just means different blacks. There's white people, and there's "forners".

I get it but my point is if you're going to try and be politically correct ...which its really not politically incorrect to call a black person "black"... Then at least keep it consistent and call whites Caucasian...pretty sure us white folk are still equal to black people...or is it racist for me to think that....?

Do not try to apply logic to this.

But African American isn't the ethnic term for black people like Caucasian is for white people, Nigro is, and the worlds not mature enough to accept that because a racist term came about from it.

Fun fact. Negro is literally black in spanish

The two terms are because society can't yet decide if they want to define black people in America as a racial group or as a cultural group.

A race is just a group that has similar physical appearances. So the black race. You could theoretically group any high pigmented group in this group. Some southeast Asians, Aborigines. People typically don't do this but it would technically apply.

African American implies there's a distinct genetic origin for blacks in the US. implying they're a distinct culture with common heritage. This isn't necessarily true. A black person today could have 99.9% Dutch heritage but then mostly black grandparents and parents and still look as African American as anyone else. I mean... look at Barack Obama. His heritage is split 50/50 and he's "African American". And he also didn't grow up with a traditional African American family at all.

In general, the two terms are a cluster fuck and I try not to let someone's skin color define them at all. I'm mindful of the fact that blacks in the US are at a massive socioeconomic disadvantage because of how others perceive them. But I don't choose to believe they're any genetically or culturally different than me, a white guy.

It's funny, we reached a point where you can safely downvote any insanity wolf meme because you know, without clicking, that it wont be about something insane but about someone being a dick.

i'm still not sure if people believe that being an asshole makes you insane or if they just don't care about using memes correctly.

oh well, it's a fucking image macro so i guess i shouldn't think too hard about that anyway

It's just definition slide, the same thing that happens to any language in everyday use. Just look at the current definition of feminism.

While i agree with your point in general, i'm not sure if feminism is a good example.

A few idiots aside i think feminism still means the same it always has. To me it just seems like a certain subset of male reddit users like to blow the remarks of said idiots out of proportion because it somehow reinforces their weird "male victim" narrative. i mean, i'm a white male and as far as i can tell society is still pretty accommodating to me, so i have no idea where that comes from.

Although feminist advocacy is and has been mainly focused on women's rights, some feminists, including bell hooks, argue for the inclusion of men's liberation within its aims because men are also harmed by traditional gender roles.

oh, that's what you're talking about! Damn you, preconceived notions. Somehow i always assume that if a redditor talks about feminism, it's going to be an anti-feminist rant.

mea culpa

Is it just me or is every girl that works in HR hot?

It's easier for employees to be fired by hot people

The HR lady at my job looked like evil teacher from the movie Matilda.

I once knew a counselor who reminded me of the FBI slug lady from monsters inc.

That was my math teacher.

Please no. I used to work for my dad's company. My mom was HR...

[–]Fudgms 1

My mom is HR for where my brother works. This exact thought crossed my mind....

Lol are you my brother? Where you from?

[–]Fudgms 0

You aren't my brother. I know that for a fact.

Did you want reddit to know you have a hot mother?

HR company at my last job was outsourced to India. That was a fun experience when they screwed my last wage.

Took me a full day of complaining to speak to someone in the local office.

They then paid me twice. After the shit they put me through I didn't tell them.

The point of HR is to manipulate people as hard as possible into accepting deals that are good for the company and bad for the employee. It's in the name. Human Resources. You are basically a table or dolly to be utilized at maximum value.

So yes. Hot and charming, but only when they are trying.

No, you're wrong. It's a job, not a proclivity.

this didnt happen so hard

You clearly haven't worked where I have....

Saw somebody tell an area manager to "untwist her panties" and "leave the work to the men" when she asked him why the stock counts were so far out.

He then looked genuinely confused when he was told his termination was effective immediately. I later heard that he submitted a complaint to corporate saying he'd been fired unjustly and demeaned by having it done in front of the other staff.

Oh another guy filmed himself having sex in the store with a new hire and showed it to everybody. Also fired/confused as to why.

So.. yeah.

Now you got my attention!

What kind of place do you work at? Grocery store? Department store? Office?

This was back when I worked in a games store, about 8 years ago or so... you saw some strange people come through. Lots of guys with zero social skills and no clue that selling games is a lot more about sales than games.

It led to a few interesting situations. The guy who was fired for having sex in the store was utterly astounded that management didn't share his view that getting laid was awesome under all circumstances (oh I should probably mention the girl was unaware she was being filmed). The one who back talked the area manager was already well known as having zero respect for women.. he'd already had a few complaints put in when girl gamers came in and he would refuse to help them until they admitted they were buying for their boyfriend/brother/whatever.

As time went on the store realised it was a much better policy to find staff that had good people skills and were willing to learn about games, rather than base it off who had the better knowledge of gaming.

Though that had it's own fun... getting experienced sales people in to sell games doesn't work so well when they openly mock your best customers for being nerds. One of them was fired because a customer who clearly fell on the autistic side of things left crying... gets some attention when he averaged about 200 bucks of purchases every week. We managed to get him back but after that he'd only come in if me or one other guy was working (yay for my stats!).

But yeah, it's amazing the level of cluelessness and stupidity people can exhibit.

Wow, sounds like the manager needed a 101 on handling personel issues too...

But at least you got some experience in handling some odd/strange people!

Yeah as shitty as it can be, I think everybody should have a customer facing sales job at some point in life. You get some incredibly useful skills out if it, plus a few amusing tales.

Definitely blue collar dude.

Grocery Story

The Food Network's 'Toy Story' parody

I've been told to unbunch my panties multiple times but I've never seen a white guy mouth off to a black boss using a slur or racist joke.

So your logic is that if you've never seen it, it never happens?

There are plenty of dumb people in this world, including those who would think something like that would be hilarious then be surprised when nobody agreed.

[–]Fudgms 2

If I had a nickel for everytime my boss called me gay and made fun of me for not getting laid and for claiming I fuck sheep, I could retire at 22.

Dude probably was fucking around and didn't catch his boss was in a pissy mood, because that was actually a funny joke.

No, your coworker would've just been working for a white man instead.

Didn't happen. No such thing as a African American boss.

"HR want to talk to you."
"Heh, am I fired? Haha."
"They'll... walk you though it."
"..."

The stones on this rebel...

He did make a funny though. In a side note Im shocked at the people defending the flag. Why is it so hard to understand that image hurts people.
what if i go around wearing a swasticka armband to celebrate my German heritage. Its my right to do it but I wouldnt want to because its hurtful. Wake up White People.

Yes, wake up white people the the gradual disenfranchisement of our people, the invasion of our homelands with minorities, and to the growing anti-white mentality that masquerades as "tolerance" or "anti-racism."

Wake up white folk! We need our own nation run by our people and for, and only for, our people.
