It's been confirmed multiple times in the years since that no rape took place, by Moore even.

That one's arguable, and part of the magic of the book as a whole. I'm actually on the "it's implied Batman kills Joker" side, but so far as I know Moore has never actually stated what was meant to happen. All we know is what ended up being canon. However, from Moore himself we know that Babs wasn't raped.

That's how you're supposed to take it. She was definitely sexually assaulted, what with the pictures, which is bad enough. But there is an intentional implication that rape occurred.
