Indeed, probably the best move for him. Hopefully he'll get some chances to prove himself in the preseason and early on in the regular season, as he was on the bench for Sevilla pretty much for the last third of this season. I believe he can shine though, looked really promising when he was on loan at Everton before he got injured. Also, now we can get a bunch of comments asking how you pronounce his name again!

    Talk about a perfect signing. Gerri for 4.2 is a fantastic deal. He offers width to the team and a much needed urgency to move the ball forward. Looking at his loan 2 seasons ago, he was selfish but there were times where we really needed that this year. He makes our attack more dynamic and he already has experience with the team. Fantastic signing!

    With all due respect to Lennon if he can make the impact he did based on basically just being fast towards the end of last season (although he did help defend more than Geri), I'm pretty excited to see what Geri does for us.     Yeah that would be the 4-2-3-1 option. He played around with moving McCarthy forward and taking it to a 4-3-3 at times this year, and with the personnel he's brought in already and seems to be looking to bring in it's clear he wants it as an option.

    Not sure. He came out and said the quotes the Belgian press gave were either exaggerations or lies and that he was happy to stay, but it wouldn't be that surprising if he left. He did definitely mention broken promises about game time not long ago but seemed more interested in getting more game time here than leaving, but if he were promised game time at a Champions League team he'd be off. Not sure anyone of note is after him though.

    Mirallas is mental, he clearly wants to play for Real Madrid (he actually said this is his aim last season) but its obviously never going to happen. So now he keeps on wavering between saying he wants to stay and what seems like looking for a move to a CL club. I think he'll leave but I've got no idea where he'll go. Rumour is that his injury record already put off Atletico and probably a few others on top of that, plus he'll be 28 next season so no real sell on value for anyone that does buy him.

    Given some of the quality that's played for Madrid in recent years (looking at you, Altintop and Granero), he could make a nice rotation option for Madrid. That said, I'd rather keep him at Goodison, or find someone stupid enough to pay 15m for him.

    Yeah keeping him at Goodison would be my first choice, but if he wants to leave then hopefully we'll get a good price for him. We still have the option for an extra year which means there are technically two years left on his contract, so he shouldn't go for cheap

    The 4-2-3-1 Everton play isn't so disimilar to begin with, so I think they'll play it sometimes. Usually, or at least for 14/15, when playing a top side Martinez would add Besic to make the lineup a 4-3-3.

    The 4-3-3 was used as a more defensive lineup by Martinez this year, three shielding the back four rather than two. I think this year we may use it more offensively with Deulo and Mirallas providing more width, which we struggled with.

    The only problem is that Besic is still committing too many mistakes and fouls. A lot of Evertonians seem to think he is ready to play 30 games this year or something, but he simply isn't. He seems to have great vision, makes key passes, and already has a hatred for the shite, but I think Barry's overall experience is needed more. However, this year Besic might break out and prove me wrong. For now though, I prefer Besic to learn under Barry before getting more than 15 starts next year.

    I don't think Besic is ready to start either. But anytime now Barry could lose his starting quality. Someone is going to have to take it. I guess it could be cleverly and push McCarthy back and the more defensive of the two.

    Try before you buy. How many players go on loan but never end up playing for the parent club again? For every Francis Coquelin, there's a full roster of guys who never come home. Everton's never going to be buying at the Suarez/Bale/Ronaldo level, so why not try out those 5-25mm rated players and then buy the ones who work out? Smart business.

    The deal definitely has a buyback clause, hence the low transfer fee - last I read was 9m if they buy him back in 2016, 12m in 2017.

    If Deulofeu gets his shit together under Martinez and meets his potential, Barça will gladly pay 3m/year for that change. And if he doesn't, well, we made a small amount of money.

    This is also the best deal for Deulofeu because he needed a permanent home, not another loan. When he was at Sevilla he supposedly got in trouble for talking publicly about Barcelona and when he would return after the loan, Emery thought he was unfocused. Now, since there's nothing guaranteed about a buyback, he'll have to actually play his hardest.

    It's more like a loan deal. Barcelona will activate his buy back clause in 2-3 years from now. He's got huge potential and walks straight into the Everton starting XI.

    I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that a team with Messi, Neymar, and Suarez will buy back Deulofeu.
