It's a conservative newspaper with a conservative readership of traditional investors, traders and financial worker. i suspect bitcoin reminds many of those with a few grey hairs of some of the worst excesses of dot.com hype and articles are written accordingly. I would be more worried about the negative press that bitcoin gets in the tech press.

Looking at charts to judge bitcoin is like saying it's enough to look at Apple stock price history to understand the inner working of an iPhone. Of course, that's the only thing you can do if your writters and readers have no knowledge of technology.

To be fair, the Bitcoinmania series on FT is fairly educational, even if only to provide a counterpoint to all the hype found virtually everywhere else.

The truth is usually in the middle. Bitcoin is not dead, Bitcoin is not the solution to everything. It's a niche technology with some interesting applications that will probably find its true potential in a non-financial field.
