Skyhook ATM Disappointment/Warning (self.Bitcoin)

February 17: Excited to contribute to the bitcoin ecosystem, I ordered a Skyhook ATM and paid $1,393.42 CDN on my Visa card.

I hear from the company exactly twice:

March 3: "Sorry for the delayed reply. Our current lead time is 5 weeks. If you need to cancel, please let us know."

April 23: "We're incredibly busy and shipping daily. It's difficult to estimate shipping times, but we're doing everything possible to lessen these."

May 27: I try to cancel, but get no response from Skyhook.

June 1: I open a case with Visa. Initially Visa tells me I cannot get a refund since it has been more than three months since I made the purchase. I send them all my correspondences with Skyhook.

June 11: Finally get my dollars back. Disappointing!

Last person I knew involved with the project left and from what I can tell they are just kinda in "free float" mode until it falls apart.

Yeah I had terrible experience with them too. Fortunately bitpay helped mediate a refund

Skyhook have the worst customer service of anyone I have dealt with . I purchased a skyhook a year ago it is now just a paper weight . I can not get it to connect to the net and I get no response from Jon Hannis or any of the sky hook team when ever I contact them . If i wasn't in Australia I would go and knock on their door. This is no way to build a brand and very bad for the bitcoin eco system . Most of these units are purchased by people who have good intensions of expanding the availability of access points , not with profit intention. Buyer beware you had better be very tech savy or forget these machines .

I had the same problem. They finally shipped the unit after calling them out on Twitter... Got the unit a week later

Try some due diligence before making a purchase like that next time and you can avoid the headache.
