I think she meant to say sugar?

[–]pigeon_in_a_hole [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

I think so too. Posting that screenshot on here without realizing it could be a typo/brain fart is far more worthy of a facepalm than the actual content.

Well, this is the post that finally got me to unsub. I hope OP is happy.

I think she meant to say sugar. I hope.

I am assuming, based on context.

She gets the advice on how to make simple syrup, thanks them, and laments that she is also out of syrup.

If she was typing in a hurry, her brain could have farted, and made her write "syrup" when she meant to write "sugar".

I find it odd she doesn't have time to go to Kroger but has time to post on Facebook and wait for a reply and to meet somebody to get it.

It could be a rural area.

I live in San Francisco and with out a car it takes me 45 minutes to get to the grocery store.

I live in San Francisco and without a car it takes me 5 minutes. But I also live a block away in lower pac heights.

The time it takes me to get kids in the car, drive to the store, navigate the store, wait in the one open checkout line, drive home, get kids out of the car is not worth one tsp. I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

How do you know this person has children?

All stupid people have children.

Good point.

Have two kids. Am stupid. Canned Confirm

Canned

I think it's canning. My son has confirmed this.

Does canning the confirmation keep it fresher for the winter months?

That's not quite what /u/halfhartedgrammarguy said. Not all parents are stupid people, but all stupid people are parents.

But you didn't get that because you're stupid.

No, wait...

(But what about stupid paste-eating kids?)

They don't, nor did they claim they he/she does. They merely presented a plausible scenario which may help OP, who found it odd, to no longer find said situation odd, if only they considered some variables.

Exactly. A single guy like myself wondered that, then I realized it may not be so easy for others...

Indeed. Not only that, I feel like there could be loads of reasons why it's more convenient to get an answer on Facebook than to go to the store.

Anyone can make something sound long and tedious by explaining each and every single step. Here watch:

I have to make sure I have something to jizz in/on or something to clean it up, then I have to pull my dick out and put some sort of lubrication on my hand/dick cause dry jacking sucks, stroke it over and over and over then get mad it's not working, and THEN I gotta look at some porn or something I mean it's a huge process that nobody has time for quite frankly so if someone could just lend me a hand...

See?

Fine. Gawd, I have to do everything around here. Let me just get that out for you.

fap fap fap fap fap

Did you just compared managing kids with jacking off ?

Lube with jacking off is for candy asses.

Honestly, if "navigating the store" takes you any serious amount of time, or really any step of that process other than "drive to the store" and "drive home" take you longer than like, 7 minutes, you're doing something very wrong.

Even with kids, I can get to the store and back in like half an hour, and the store is about 10 minutes away.

You've clearly never met my mom. She takes at least an hour to shop for a few things on her list because she needs to compare every item's nutrition facts, brands, and prices. She also always has like seven other things in her head that's not on the list and will randomly purchase expensive, non-essential cosmetic items like ugly purplish nail polish. And she needs to buy anything she has a coupon for purely because she has a coupon for it. It's like shopping is a fucking game for her or something.

7mins to get 3 pairs of shoes on and get into the car, 10 mins to drive there, 7mins to get in and get item, 10 mins in checkout line, 5 mins into car, 10 mins home, 5 mins out of car to house is almost an hour if my time. Even without kids it would be a half hour. Shame in doing it wrong. So glad anonymous internet people are available to point it out. I'll do a Lean-kaisen analysis and iterate towards optimization.

I find it odd she needs a teaspoon's worth. Corn syrup is rather thick; half of it will just stick to the spoon.

You could probably just pour and eyeball it. At least, that's what I do when I cook.

If she's making a candy, or candy-like recipe, it may just be the need for glucose sugars to inhibit crystallization. A small amount of corn syrup can improve the texture of a lot of confections.

I doubt she's just sitting at the computer waiting for a reply.
She's probably doing other things at the house while waiting.

Yea, it really all boils down to attention and loneliness.

Why do it yourself when you can make the internet do it for you.

Maybe too lazy to go to Kroger?

huh... TIL how to make simple syrup.

You typically simmer it a bit. You start out with equal parts sugar and water, and you simmer and stir until it's dissolved.

She wants someone to come do it for her

I think the confusion came from her initially talking about simple syrup, to misreading the comment to say you can make simple syrup if you have regular "syrup" (instead of sugar, which it actually says) which she assumed meant maple syrup? I think her reply is that she is out of maple syrup, too.

This sub has made me realize that for some people, unless you reply with exactly what they are looking for, they completely disregard and act like you didn't just give them a valid answer and then they restate their question/comment over again.

It's extremely frustrating.

Pretty amazing people on facebook have gotten to the level of asking strangers on there friends list for items cause they're to lazy to go to the store..

That syrup isn't the only thing that is simple.

[–]Anzai [

What's so bad about this, other than the syrup/sugar typo?

yea, she meant to say sugar and wrote syrup, because mistakes

Does anyone have any simple syrup or corn syrup that they can drop everything they're doing and bring me? I only need a teaspoon and don't have time to go back to Kroger.

This is completely unremarkable and boring.

Honestly, that was a shitty reply. Hey I want to put syrup on my pancakes but this chick is telling me to just put stirred water with sugar on it!

How can she make something she doesn't even have?

If this is getting upvoted a lot then I should post my text conversations with every person I know. It consists of things like this constantly.
