| Anonymous said: is it possible for there to be a secular/naturalist understanding of factkin? is religious belief a necessity for factkin, or for otherkin in general? is it wrong as a staunch atheist to classify godkin as fictionkin? i'm an atheist and an otherkin but i feel reflexively dismissive of many kintypes because of my naturalist philosophy. |
Absolutely. I only mentioned the spiritual side of factkin because in general people assume it’s one hundred percent a mental illness thing and I wanted to mention the ways in which it could be a spiritually derived identity. A ton of otherkin are atheist and believe their identities are psychological in nature. You’re not alone there. As far as godkin being fictionkin, while I understand where you’re coming from, unless they’re from modern fiction, the closest thing that would be “acceptable” to both you and them would probably by “mythkin”. I’d still avoid calling them fictionkin or mythkin even if you disagree though except in your own head/conversations, you feel? Like, even if your belief is they are fictional, still respect their beliefs. c: -Mod Badger |
