ban page now says

This subreddit has been banned for violating the reddit rules to keep everyone safe

"safe"

I'm still trying to figure out what rule they actually violated...

None. That's why it wasn't banned until today.

I heard it was because they posted pictures of Imgur admins on their sidebar.

I wonder how true that is... I have no way to verify. They have to have done something though because there are far more deserving subs (not on the front page, but still).

I have no way to verify either, but that's what I'm reading all over the site. In which case, yeah, the whole subreddit should be banned for violating Reddit's rules.

I guess r/coontown hasn't actually harassed/doxxed people.

Agreed, which sucks, but it wasn't the reason all the subs were banned. Four others were also banned...

I will verify Imgur has been getting shitted on a lot lately in that sub.

From what I gather from the couple of posts I have seen in fatpeoplehate. It was because a portion of the posts were being taken down via imgur and what not.

Yup. Imgur was banning fatpeoplehate from getting to the front.

It was, which is why some guy created slimgur.com

Yes they did. It's been on the sidebar since yesterday I think. I was just on the sub earlier and took a break to play some GW2

As /u/HorzaDeservedBetter said:

The announcement wasn't thought and created two hours ago. It was prepared. The fats of imgur in the sidebar cannot be invoked as a reason for the ban.

I'm guessing the sidebar post was in retaliation to what they knew was coming.

They were just random employees. The pictures came from reddit's about us page, and they were posted without any identifying information.

That is a conveniently unfalsifiable allegation, now.

(Not saying you are making the allegation.)

"to keep everyone safe"

Literally the words they used.

Yup and they define that as: "You agree to not intentionally jeopardize the health and safety of others or yourself."

I don't see how fph did such...

They didn't.

In fact, by those criteria, it is the fat-acceptance/body-positivity subs who should be banned. They are DIRECTLY encouraging the jeopardy of the health of their users.

You see im actually a fat person IRL, that sub was a godsend. Anytime i was feeling discouraged about my weight loss gains? I would go on there and know that no matter how small the progress it was better then what those lard asses were doing. It was amazing motivation to keep to my diet and excercise on track. To all of you other fatties, if you cant accept what people have to say about your body, change ot.

Keep Everyone Safe: You agree to not intentionally jeopardize the health and safety of others or yourself.

Hurting people's feelings

Lol yeah but that isn't in the rules ;)

I notice /r/haes gets to stay even though they are harming all their subs. All 350...

The FAQ on that sub is hysterical.

Did I link a joke sub? That is hilarious.

Isn't it though? When I first saw the sub I was confused about if they were trolling or there were people really that stupid until I saw the "inspiration". /r/askhaes is real but mostly it's the mod posting stuff and people down voting and arguing with her.

They created new rules to ban it.

Really? Can you link me to the new rules because the ones linked from the ban page don't account for said ban...

http://np.reddit.com/r/announcements/comments/39bpam/removing_harassing_subreddits/

They didn't change the rules per say, but instead how communities are managed. Or are interpreting their rules differently now.

FAT-HATE IS THOUGHT CRIME.
SJW IS GOOD-THINK.
BIG BROTHER IS HERE TO PROTECT YOU.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU.

[–]Laurelais_Hygiene2 4ポイント5ポイント  (0子コメント)

Come to /r/shitlordlounge - the top mod in /r/fatpeoplehate2 is SBed so the admins will add a SRSer instead of him

I don't feel safe with all the Gonewild and porn subreddits!... Protect me!

How about /r/beatingwomen2, /r/hurtinganimals or /r/rapingwomen the latter which tries to teach users how to rape AND GET AWAY with it?

Those straight up incite violence and were not banned. Or possibly, more people care about being insulted about being unattractive and repulsive than the actual well-being of others that are NOT themselves.

Given that most of the US is fat or obese, I can see why it was banned but seriously, don't do it under the guise of making it "safe," when the aforementioned subreddits are in existence and inciting violence OUTRIGHT.

My favourite example for that argument is tranny_shoah, the one dedicated to telling transsexuals to kill themselves. Not banned, must therefore be "safe" right?

Right, I forgot the secret word that lets you kill harmless fun.

Lol, voat.co is down due to heavy traffic

yeah I noticed it was loading crazy slow

Make link clickable for the seo juice and lazy clickers.

reddit alternative because reddit sjws are killing reddit

I kind of worry about voat due to this sort of thing, if the only people that go over there are groups like fatpeoplehate and kia/gg etc, it's not going to end up any better than reddit, it'll just be a mirror image with the other side of the political argument concentrated in another echo chamber.

I mean let's be honest here, the majority of redditors never even see any of these more controversial subs, I mostly don't bother to look at them myself except for meta news like this. So all this is really accomplishing is splitting people off from the mainstream where they will contribute less.

I disagree because on this website people get banned for someone else's over sensitive opinion. Voat has transparent mod logs as to help prevent douchebag mods from destroying communities due to their specific set of of morals or ideals.

it's not really about voat's policies at this point though, it's about population and inertia. There's a lot of people on reddit in places like /r/askscience or /r/cocktails who give literally no shits about any of this other stuff. I sort of doubt they're ever going to be driven out by any of the more political stuff going on because the two spheres don't intersect heavily enough for them to be badly effected. There's a certain inertia in being on top, facebook is still the top of social media because everyone is on it, despite google plus having better features, WoW is still the top MMO sheerly on population inertia. I think it'll take more than Pao's political leanings to kill reddit since most people really don't give a shit..

There's a lot of people on reddit in places like /r/askscience[1] or /r/cocktails[2] who give literally no shits about any of this other stuff

Don't worry. The SJW crunch eventually ends up sabotaging even the most apolitical of activities. They'll feel the crunch.

Voat had a political alignment thread on the frontpage, and it's almost perfectly balanced between liberals and conservatives.

I've started using voat as well as reddit to see what its all about. I've no interest in the banned subs at all but don't like the direction this place is going. I'm mostly interested in music discussion and created www.voat.co/v/disco the other day.

totally agree I've seen several of my favorite reddits <cough>subredditdrama<cough> morph into things that they were never supposed to be due to reddits mod culture and the admins actions. I just don't think that's true for 90% of reddit's user base, and in order for voat to fill the same roll as reddit it'll need a lot more people than it has right now.

This shit is seriously fucked. I bet TiA is gone by the end of the year.

[–]TheHat2KiA Cancer Chief - Uses cancer as earplugs 100

TiA and KiA will be gone soon.

I'd bet places like /r/AMRsucks are also on the chopping block, too.

But of course, SRS gets a free pass.

They will probably start doing regular bans of 4-5 subreddits, each time including one big sub that they dislike but hasn't broken any rules. I suspect TiA, KiA and TheRedPill are all coming soon, even though they keep to themselves. Each time they will include a couple of small subs as a distraction from their real targets, like this time.

[–]TheHat2KiA Cancer Chief - Uses cancer as earplugs 46

Oh shit, yeah, TRP is probably up for deletion, too. Wouldn't be surprised if /r/MensRights was added to that list.

Strange that places like /r/coontown weren't part of the initial glassing, though.

Well, way back when they banned r/niggers it just turned into like 15 new subs (the whole "chimpire" thing, greatapes and coontown and who knows what else). Coontown is small enough that they can just regroup in another one of their subs pretty quickly. Admins probably figure FPH is too big and will lose a lot of users (by which I mean it won't regroup effectively)

Admins probably figure FPH is too big and will lose a lot of users

Almost as if its because being morbidly obese is shameful and people are tired of acceptance movements for unhealthy behavior and campaigns.

I've never seen a sub that more strictly enforces its rule of "not linking to other parts of reddit". /r/ShitRedditSays sure doesn't.

Why would /r/mensrights be on the chopping block?

[–]TheHat2KiA Cancer Chief - Uses cancer as earplugs 63

Same reason why SRS won't be.

They claim it's because of harassment. They'll need to find a different way to lawyer around to deleting coontown, but RedPillers are known to attack users in other subs. I bet it's the next big one.

[–]TheHat2KiA Cancer Chief - Uses cancer as earplugs 7

All they need is an article demanding other subs be pulled for "making people feel unsafe," and they have license to pull it.

Jezebel/Gawker can take care of that for them.

They really don't attack anybody. 99% of them stay in TRP. The others only ever post archives or pictures, if they feel the need to crosspost. TRP gets attacked a lot more than they've ever attacked anybody, just their philosophy offends people and therefore that's bad for some reason.

You do realize SRS use doublethink willy-nilly, right? It's mocking when SRS do it, it's attacking when somebody else does it.

Before the whole SJW takeover of SRS was well known (at least I hadn't heard of it yet), I was banned for repeating a joke a mod said the day before.

This is precisely what happened.

They singled out /r/fatpeoplehate because it was super popular, but added others no one cared about, but of course left /r/coontown, and /r/ShitRedditSays.

Add /r/paoyongyang to that list.

I was shadowbanned 3 days after creating it. It was with the grace of god that I got unbanned. Not by /u/ekjp, of course.

Too bad there is no real replacement for reddit atm...

Fucking censorship at this American company ("the country of the free")...

:'(

/r/tumblrinaction is a favorite of mine. When that goes, I go.

[–]greedo_posted_first 77ポイント78ポイント  (4子コメント)

Digg, Digg, Digg your Voat

gently down the memes

Merrily, merrily, merrily

reddit's a bad dream

But I liked it here. Make them go back to tumblr. :(

SJW's don't have a life outside of these kind of places. If you build it, they will come.

It's the circle of life.

Ellen Pao is actually ruining reddit. I didn't realize it was possible, but reddit is actually becoming some social justice warrior circle jerk.

You can get away with a lot of stupid decisions when it costs $2.7 million to fire you.

You've been banned from /r/paoyongyang for the following reason:

Failed to create a safe space for diverse peoples, triggering content.

Praise glorious dear leader Ellen Pao.

Harassing "skinny sluts" and "anorexic bitches" are still okay though.

I'm glad people can recognize how retarded this is.

A total of 5 subs have been banned:

Note the lack of actually harassing subreddits like /r/ShitRedditSays and /r/SubredditDrama on that list.

Edit: Added more specific subscriber count for /r/fatpeoplehate. Corrected /r/transfags to /r/trans_fags. Both are banned, but the former was banned in the past, only the latter was banned today.

for /r/fatpeoplehate, try 100k+ subs, it was a big subreddit

It was at the point where posts regularly hit /r/all, so that's probably why they banned it

We had just crossed over 150k subs

Are you into furrys by heart, or do you watch it just for the lulz?

I've put my heart and soul into becoming the one true master of furry porn

/r/transfags was the old one that got banned several months ago IIRC, /r/trans_fags is the one that just got banned now. Interestingly, they left /r/tranny_shoah which is the sub that encourages people to kill themselves...

I'd wager those other subs were only included so it wouldn't look like this was entirely about fatpeoplehate. They are all so small that barely anybody sees them.

This is probably what it is.

The question is, which outraged fatty had enough clout to get reddit to kill a 150K sub?

That's a lot of ad impressions they're going to lose.

Possibly imgur employees influenced it, they've been deleting FPH content for a long time. Might have told reddit admins that they'll have to find a new picture hosting site if they keep it up. It's also possible there's some overlap between staff.

imgur employees don't delete content on a whim, they respond to complaints, and I bet SJWs spent day and night filing them.

Why would imgur give up hundreds of thousands of ad impressions, also? None of it makes sense.

feelings are more important than logic

and actually, last 3-4 days every single FPH submission has been automatically deleted from imgur, they were starting to use other image hosting sites. So yes, they do delete content on a whim.

I wasn't aware of that. I saw imgur's safe space announcement and I assumed they'd do it like they do DMCA requests.

That's fucked up. Is imgur's founder fat or something? That might explain things.

Imgur's entire staff are fat, somebody posted a picture of them on FPH this week (can't find a mirror right now unfortunately)

Funny that since yesterday (or the day before) FPH actually had a bot automatically reposting imgur images almost instantly to a different URL. What a shame that a subreddit advertising a healthy lifestyle was removed...

Might have told reddit admins that they'll have to find a new picture hosting site if they keep it up

I doubt that, seeing as how imgur was created by a redditor for reddit and they would be throwing away their primary source of ad revenue. I'm not sure how a hosting site would block people from linking their content either. If the image is hosted and linkable, then anyone from any site can link to it.

[–]GoatsacI've got a cock made out of platinum. 5

I imagine it was prolly the harassment FPH sent towards imgur.

[–]greedo_posted_first 3ポイント4ポイント  (0子コメント)

I'd wager those other subs were only included so it wouldn't look like this was entirely about fatpeoplehate. They are all so small that barely anybody sees them.

That and to lump FPH in with "racist" and "transphobic" subs to make it seem worse.

SRD goes out and creates drama in subs they don't like and then link to it and pretend it organic. Their still in business too

Why don't they ban the insanely sick reddits? Like rapingwomen, cutefemalecorpses, etc.

NOT NEOFAG :( FUCK YOU PAO

"This subreddit has been banned for violating the reddit rules to keep everyone safe"

The FUCK is this shit? I'm by no means a supporter of FPH, but this is just wrong. Straight out of some dystopian censorship program. Even worse than some of the posts in TublrInAction!

"Vote brigading" was already reddit's version of "national security", i.e. the excuse you can trot out anytime, because they can just withhold evidence and claim it's for people's own good.

This is unreal, i visit subs like combat footage where people are sometimes shown DEAD. Then there is watchpeopledie, but a sub about hating fat gluttonous sows gets deleted.

If anyone is in doubt about the SJW narrative being enforced at the expense of free speech here you go.

Fuck you fat pig mods and admins: SRS, SJW, femnazi fat fucking sacks of shit. Aaron Swartz is probably spinning in his grave. Normal people cannot win on reddit, because fat louse no-lifer 'i mod 100 subs' who sit in their parents basements always will have more time to devote to the SJW bullshit.

Reddit should be known as the democratic people's republic of Pao. sing the anthem good comrades!

rejoice in the glorious red union under chairman Pao comrades!

update: Mods shadow banned from reddit Ohh and fat sow admins are preemptively banning possible in the future, might just, maybe harassment subs like /r/fatpersonhate , /r/fatpeoplehate2 etc (which haven't done anything yet, they were created today lol)

Anyone telling you they were banned because of how they acted instead of their content is lying.

Edit: Reddit rep lets slip more subs are going to be banned?

In response to an inquiry from BuzzFeed News about the negative response from users, a Reddit representative said, “We did this incrementally so we could manage the response with our limited resources.” “We knew there was a small but vocal minority of users who might react negatively,” Heather Wilson added.

Stop supporting this SJW paradise, voat, 8chan are viable alternatives.

Some subs on reddit are insane that they exist, yet one that hates on fat people is banned as if it's the next Nazi movement.

Obese people have demonstrated issues with self control. They are the perfect customers for advertising and clearly a market which Reddit doesn't want to scare away.

I honestly don't care for that sub or the mentality surrounding it. But I support its right to exist as a subreddit. Censorship solves nothing and the sjw's are destroying reddit.

On the plus side, if we plugged a generator into Aaron, his super fast grave spinning would probably generate so much power that no-one in the world would ever have energy problems again.

[–]UltravioletClearanceRape Enthusiast 27

I think the devil is in the details.

We will ban subreddits that allow their communities to use the subreddit as a platform to harass individuals when moderators don’t take action.

You cannot harass individuals on a subreddit. What's wrong with that policy?

well it wasnt about an individual it was about every fat person

Dry run for KotakuInAction.

This is one of the dumbest ideas in the history of stupid. Now instead of having a sanctioned place to spout their opinions, these people will be mouthing off everywhere. Great job admins.

Maybe they will just set up like 3 to 4 new subs. I mean that's what I would do. Just fracture into 4 new subs all with the same number of subs.

I went ahead and asked the question we all want answered. I'm not going to cry about FPH but to not have an active record of when and which subs this is occurring in sends more than a chilling effect. Hopefully they will oblige. Or ban me.

edit: spelling

I'm glad to see that FPH isn't "safe" but a bunch of delusional fat people in R/haes literally convincing people to kill themselves is.

Well I'm out.

Just made my VOAT account. I wasn't a subscriber or contributor to FPH but fuck this censorship bullshit.

[–]Santiago_Matamoros 9ポイント10ポイント  (4子コメント)

/r/trans_fags is also gone

That's like their 3rd subreddit, those guys will just make another

V O A T has a fph, if you'd like to visit it. It was created in preparation for this, and is fully operational.

From that sites latency it would appear the exodus is well under way.

Nope. Hijacked by a fatso.

Really? I thought it was run by the original mods.

Only top mod counts, and he was voatrequested out.

It doesn't matter. Fat people will continue to be disgusting wastes of life. Banning a subreddit because it hurts your precious little feelings doesn't change reality. You still have to look in the mirror every night and you can't ban that. These mods and admins can get fucked, what a bunch of crybaby pussies.

[–]I_smell_like_bacon 10ポイント11ポイント  (0子コメント)

Welcome to Redumblr, The Safe Space of the Internet.

there are also /r/fatpeoplehate2 and /r/newfatpeoplehate, I'll wait and see where most users end up. Until then, Voat for me (if it can handle the traffic)

[–]master_of_deception 0ポイント1ポイント  (1子コメント)

Its gonna get banned too, stop wasting you time and leave this pleace

Thin privilege is knowing that even though one of my favorite subs was banned, I'm still fit and thin while the fatties' momentary victory is quickly drowned out by their numerous other health problems.

I disagreed with fatpeoplehate but I don't like that it has been banned - free speech and all that

/r/watchpeopledie - sub about gifs of people getting killed and murdered - NOT BANNED

edit:
/r/sexyabortions - O.o - NOT BANNED

/r/cutefemalecorpses - sub about sexualising dead bodies - NOT BANNED

/r/coontown - maximum racism - NOT BANNED

/r/fatpeoplehate - sub about making fun of fat peoplenot that I'm endorsing it - BANNED

Well whatchpeopledie was a fairly closed community that had little impact on other subs and was pretty impersonal
